I’ve walked around Hollywood Blvd a couple of times in my life, and it’s definitely not what I’d expected. My friend and I were doing the tourist thing there in ‘93, and we noticed some film trucks on a side street with a policeman watching over things. The policeman said that there was a movie scene being shot in the restaurant that we were all standing behind. He said that Joe Pesci was in the movie, and in the scene that was being filmed. So we waited a few minutes, and people started coming out of the back door of the restaurant, but we didn’t see Pesci. We were about to walk away when I saw Pesci in the passenger seat of a Towne Car on the street right in front of me, and he had the window down while they were waiting at a red light to turn onto Hollywood Blvd. I asked Joe if I could get a picture with him really quick, and he said sure. So I’m standing on the street shaking Joes hand and making small talk, but my friend couldn’t get his camera to work. The light turned green for them, and they were nice enough to wait a bit, but I thanked him and told him we didn’t want to hold them up any longer. And of course, as soon as I walked away my friend yelled that he got the camera to work…Joe heard that and we have a couple of pics of him sticking his head out of the car looking back and waving at us. I’m glad that happened because the only other things I remember about the area were a lot of Scientologists offering free ‘readings’, and how run down the area looked.

The lack of tourist visiting LA is why many of the businesses along the Walk of Fame have closed.
German in Venice (G.I.V.) has talked about how tourism in Los Angeles has dropped off these past few years, especially international tourism, and G.I.V. went so far as to close his shop at Venice Beach.

Hello Adam David here I been a movie buff and a fan of Disneyland for over fifty years, and a fan of yours for many years. Thanks for the tour of downtown Hollywood. I owned a very little part of Hollywood in downtown Palo Alto California, very close to Stanford university called Movie Memories poster shop. We sold original and reproduction movie posters black and white photos and rock posters. I had 3 celebrities come into my shop over the years Joan Baez, Neil Young and Fred Savage from the wonder years. In front of his restaurant in Palo Alto I got to chat with Francis Ford Coppola. Everyone was very nice didn’t have a chance to ask for an autograph, but I will never forget my encounters with them. See you at the movies! 😎

Hi Adam, another well done video from you on Hollywood Blvd. I grew up here in S. Ca., L.A. County, and I have not been down there in some time. During the Summer tourism
months they do indeed have clean up crews working so it doesn't get too trashy down there on the Blvd. I love to go to Larry Edmund's bookstore on the Blvd. and talk to Jeff
behind the counter. I got to meet actress Mamie Van Doren and actress Julia Adams there when they signed their recent books. This was 11 or 12 years ago. Remember it well.
Ms. Mamie let me take a photo with her for free but I had to kneel down next to her as she was sitting in her chair. She had her left hand on my right knee. lolol She said I was
a tall drink of water. hahaha I will never forget that as long as I live. Keep up the great work!

I always shopped at Hollywood Liqueur and the pizza and hamburgers at Andres Pizza next door Across the street before the Rite Aid or whatever there is now, used to be historical Brown's Ice Cream Parlor, famous for their Tin Roof Sunday. My wife and I were disappointed when we heard that Snow White's was no more, we used to go there for breakfast before my girlfriend went to work at Fredericks of Hollywood, she was a sales girl there. That was a great day of randomness. I back packed around the world in 2010. When I got to LA, I had pre-booked a hostel opposite The Chinese Theatre. Little did I know that 'hostels' in America are not like the rest of the world. Across from the theatre ( more or less ) there is a parade of shops, and a doorway with a stairs. The hostel was above a liquour store. When the guy at check in saw that I was a proper back packer from Europe, he said "I'm gonna put you in a room on your own". So I was in a room with 2 bunk beds facing the street, with a neon sign blinking on and off all night ( just like in the movies ha ha ). The poor soul in the next room howled like a banshee all night. "Hostels" in America allow long term residency, and the guy at reception the next day said that most of the other people had mental health issues/ just out of prison. It was a trip ... Looks like Andy Dicks has got himself together finally. Some great people at Carl's star ( RIP ). "I can make it ... I can make it !"
