My cousin was working at Byju's and he told me that those sales people will lie about anything to make parents sign up. Poor people were mercilessly targeted by this monster of a company that has no morals whatsoever!
There is never a single company on earth that has been successful by cheating its own clients. From Jet Airways to Byju's due to their own greed and "market expansion" notion - will they continue to fail. Everyone eventually starts out good - but what goes on during their good days is what matters for the health of its firm and operations. Byju fell victim to fame and money and I'm certain when ED is involved in Byju's - he's gonna end up in jail and there won't be any bail given for years.
BYJU'S is nothing but reflection of Indian parents' toxic obsession for "higher grades" in pursuit of which physical and mental health along with social skills are gravely neglected.
This is the Central Problem, Grades have become absolute and Skill and Development is put aside. Ultimately resulting into useless Btech engineers who end up ultimately in Call Centers.
If byjus had just opened a UA-cam channel and then hire teachers for channel eventually, he would be profitable and life would be much peaceful. He tried to expand and that is his biggest mistake. Sometimes we need to take things slow and ignore people who say to take things aggressively.
But that wouldn't make money for the founders. Only investors lost the money on Byju's where the founders just enjoy the billionaire status and all the media attention.
Couple of things which you have missed. Toxic culture in the company, malpractices, centralisation (& abuse) of power in the company by Byju's and his family. It wasn't run as a company, but more like a family business/house.

Sir, I would like to request you to make a video on upgrad, as it is a matter of concern for many working professionals. This is a very unfortunate situation, as it affects the careers and finances of many hardworking individuals. I hope you can expose this issue and help others avoid falling for such scams. Thank you for your attention and service
There many such courses on the internet not worth people's time. I request you to find a good Business school and learn there. The amount of projects and research you do will help you. These useless courses will teach you nothing. If you are doing something like CA then do it with an actual tutor who costs economical. Old school tutions are still much better than going to an institutions whom you pay lakhs of rupees and are online. India has many teacher who are amazing.
I got enrolled there by looking at the names of best business schools and other top universities, because of this reason everyone is attracted to their courses as the certification is provided by those top b-schools and universities @@bharat-dz9wi
Same is story with Skill lync, where students including me were forced to take their courses and trapped us into loans. They gave false informations and job promises.
I had also enrolled myself in Byjus. At that i was in 7th grade and had taken the course for 2 yrs. Let me tell you, they are just opposite to what they promise to you. We had opted for loan. Before the due date of every month, their so called "Personal Mentor" would call you and ask about your progress and doubts. I mean if you are paying nearly 50,000 Rs, you would expect the "personal mentor" service to be quick and handy. I had actually performed very bad during those years. I am glad, my parents didn't for their 5yr course.

Another amazing and unique content from Ganesh Bhai & Think School team...but was more sad and curious to know about its story as many called BYJU's a scam
Had the similar experience with the BYJU UPSC team. First asked to give a free test in return for scholarship/fellowship. Then they said you have got the scholarship and it is adjusted in your course fees. So pls subscribe to the discounted course. 😂😂.. When I said I didn't want a course, the salesman started yelling and blaming me for wasting their scholarship/fellowship which apparently they used to subtract from a course you never wanted.
Byju's spent heavily on marketing and in the process they failed to realise they needed to fix their sales practices, and it is in mid of a disaster today followed by other events discussed in the video. What I have learned from markets in the last 3 years is- Raising Millions and burning it in operations in the hope of making profits someday doesn't works for each business. So try to focus on sustainable growth, and that's what we are trying to incorporate in our new venture. O Now I realised I started writing a LinkedIn post😅, Kudos Think School, great video🔥
I have been working into sales industry since a year now , when ever someone comes from byjus to our company they have been respectful than us , just because they have come from byjus , it’s their statement they used to force parents to buy the course jsut to complete their targets and they have to do false sales too. No one takes actions towards it and the salesperson is proud of what he done in the job journey , both doesn’t think about the parents the byjus nor the sales person
My parents are teachers in government school Andhra Pradesh, they've received byjus tablets and courses for 6-10th classes. The content is subpar and doesn't even cover most of the topic included in the textbook. Even the students are not utilising them and selling them for money😂
I was present at my uncle's place when a Byju's salesperson came to sell this to his 3 children. At that time my uncle had cancer and he passed away 2 years back. While selling the course my uncle literally asked him that please try to understand my treatment is more important and i cant buy this for my 3 children. What will be the use of this if I buy this but i wont be here anymore for them. You know what the salesperson still kept selling. I was so pissed off i had to ask him to leave and understand what he was trying to say. That was the moment i understood the reality of Byju's. They looked at even a medically ill person as a revenue target.
Having many of friends working at Byju's across different department, i would say "pay your employees well or else dont side corner them into deliver more and more".
Quick correction: the interest rate increase mentioned around 18 mins in this video is due to feds in the US increasing the interest due to raising inflation domestically, and not due to the Ukraine war like it was mentioned in the video

5 years ago, Literally they made me sob by coming to home making me feel like a fool. Oh my god....They literally told me that I should buy their class or else I end up nowhere. I wish I should have outspoken little me just felt worthless . They literally asked me questions from physics when I am commerce student saying that everything I know is wrong, infront of my parents wasting 2 hr of mine I just installed Byju's and searched to find something helpful but they called me repeatedly , I uninstalled the app. But oneday my mom innocently picked that up they said I am selected for scholarship and my mom believed that and gave them our address. I know it's not appropriate to feel like this but I am glad for their downfall honestly 😅 Oh god the way they said that I lack this & that . They asked me what I want to become in future I replied CA but they said I can never be one , The drama that happened that day.......oh god the marketting team is cruel to students.
As a former employee of byju's , I noticed that the customer never has the proper information and there was so many complications. Never a good look on the company. The data was not properly maintained and the resources were not properly used either.
Everytime I go to a stationary, departmental or an electronics store, before buying, I check where these products are manufactured, many made in India, China ofc. But, there were a big chunk of goods like calculators, printers mainly corporate goods that were made in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, or Indonesia. Please make video on manufacturing in ASEAN countries
6:46 this is soo damn true i've been a victim to this, No matter what you know during your first interview with the personnel they ask questions you might not be aware of and later scare both the parents for their child's future and in a way force/trick them into buying their courses. Luckily my mom was a bit clever and rebellious one and with his departure she identified the red flag and i chose Vedantu instead.

Even when I first saw Byju's ad on TV with Shahrukh Khan, I was unimpressed about school tuition being hyped so highly, and the amount they would have spilled for the ad. Tuition is the last thing anyone can do to a school kid's growth, as if school is the end of their life. And the ad straightaway showed the way they're spilling money on facades and glitters over value-material aspects. Only professional tech courses for upskilling at jobs are worthy of online model in my opinion. And this video exposed me to how badly sales and marketing teams can lie and ruin both customers and the company. I'm not an MBA but am surprised if MBA sales or marketing teaches people to think about money and selling without any common sense and ethics. Selling needs diplomacy, but it must be rational, empowering and an honest reality. Common sense tells to desert sellers that sell lies or exaggerate negatives, and sales mustn't expect people to be fools without this knowledge. And apparently, Byju's ruined not just itself but also Aakash institute wbcih was performing decently well.
Your presentations are interesting, informative and educative. Keep it up. Important question: why do you, and numerous others like you, keep switching the nomenclature for numbers between Crores and millions and billions? Does it embarrass you to use Indian terminology or are you guys plain careless and indifferent ? You are in the field of educating viewers, so please do it the right way. Why can't you stay with crores and lakhs ? Be Indian. 👍

@3:00 so what's the revenue source of ditto insurance? Are the insurance purchase made through them costing same if bought by ourself directly from the insurance company?
A salesperson came to my friends village and sold a plan to a Highschool girl who at that time didn't know what Science/Commerce/Arts stream was. She belonged to a poor family but she was determined to take the course. The father took a loan of ₹78K. I didn't know how much merit she had until later i realised she took the course only for the free tablet Byju's gave. She bought the Science course and took Arts for Higher education 😂
I remember thinking this company's story just sounds too good to be true and always felt it this company was bound to tank. In the past decade, I have advised countless of my known people to avoid working for BYJU's. Glad to know I was not wrong.
Its the result of aggressive unethical and student destructive businesses strategy. Such strategies seem to be working initially but later on it collapses. Byjus is just a small example
After the FTX crash, I find it challenging to trust companies that invest heavily in advertising. And now Biju but luckily IDH anything to lose on Biju.
I definitely see Online Education as one for the future and is indeed our present. One possibility is we might not even get to see a school in future (maybe 50-60 years down the line) this is where the role of these companies will come into play 👀
The core point that is missing in this analysis is that BYJU which is in the business of education simply failed to teach properly. Parents were willing to spend in Lakhs with the hope that the kids will learn the concepts better but alas BYJU never focussed on learning or teaching.
ThinkSchool should learn and do more deeper research in future case studies. It's easy to narrate a story after failure but we don't know what is inside story of so called good looking fast raised businesses or models. Can you try to do a case study on Kaleshwaram Irrigation project, it is more or less same story.
Video Summary. Thank me later. The UA-cam video explores the crisis faced by BYJU'S, India's prominent edtech startup, delving into allegations of foreign exchange law violations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite being valued at $22 billion, the company encountered investor troubles, resignations, massive layoffs, and over $3 billion in losses. Key factors contributing to the decline include heavy marketing expenses, questionable sales practices, unsuccessful projects, and a $1.2 billion term loan B with a risky payment structure. The loss of reputation due to misleading accounting practices and financial dealings played a significant role. The video emphasizes the importance of maintaining a good reputation, focusing on value, and sound business practices for business success.
Correction : FLDG is first loss default guarantee and not deposit guarantee.

These useless courses will teach you nothing. If you are doing something like CA then do it with an actual tutor who costs economical. Old school tutions are still much better than going to an institutions whom you pay lakhs of rupees and are online. India has many teacher who are amazing.
I got enrolled there by looking at the names of best business schools and other top universities, because of this reason everyone is attracted to their courses as the certification is provided by those top b-schools and universities

Uncontrollable greed... Feel bad for those who suffered
Bro i have literally same story as yours 😅
Dude we are frr same, i also have the same story😂😂

Another amazing and unique content from Ganesh Bhai & Think School team...but was more sad and curious to know about its story as many called BYJU's a scam
They are a scam that's why people call them scam
@@adityagupta8378 once a unicorn now a scam 😢
Had the similar experience with the BYJU UPSC team. First asked to give a free test in return for scholarship/fellowship. Then they said you have got the scholarship and it is adjusted in your course fees. So pls subscribe to the discounted course. 😂😂..
When I said I didn't want a course, the salesman started yelling and blaming me for wasting their scholarship/fellowship which apparently they used to subtract from a course you never wanted.
True… deny their product and their salesman starts yelling
Shoulda started yelling back at him

Byju's spent heavily on marketing and in the process they failed to realise they needed to fix their sales practices, and it is in mid of a disaster today followed by other events discussed in the video.
What I have learned from markets in the last 3 years is- Raising Millions and burning it in operations in the hope of making profits someday doesn't works for each business. So try to focus on sustainable growth, and that's what we are trying to incorporate in our new venture.
O Now I realised I started writing a LinkedIn post😅,
Kudos Think School, great video🔥
I have been working into sales industry since a year now , when ever someone comes from byjus to our company they have been respectful than us , just because they have come from byjus , it’s their statement they used to force parents to buy the course jsut to complete their targets and they have to do false sales too. No one takes actions towards it and the salesperson is proud of what he done in the job journey , both doesn’t think about the parents the byjus nor the sales person
So much to learn from this case study...you articulated it so well❤😊thank you for your precious insights 🙏
finally,
when you succeed in business you become a roll model
if not you'll become a case study
My parents are teachers in government school Andhra Pradesh, they've received byjus tablets and courses for 6-10th classes. The content is subpar and doesn't even cover most of the topic included in the textbook. Even the students are not utilising them and selling them for money😂

this sounds like crony captialism at its worst. Taxpayers are basically forced to pay for Byju's for subpar services.
Thank you for bringing this case study. I appreciate you and your team hardwork.
फारच छान आहे case study...प्रत्येकाने शिकल पाहिजे, कसा धंदा नुकसानीचा होतो ते.
When you explain well, I immediately understand what you said, even though my English is not that good, thank you very much for this
Your videos are awesome. Your way of presentation is great. Hats off to you.
This is what happens when Greed is marketed as Service. They became too greedy over the course of time. EDUCATION SHOULD NOT BE BUSINESS!!
Quick correction: the interest rate increase mentioned around 18 mins in this video is due to feds in the US increasing the interest due to raising inflation domestically, and not due to the Ukraine war like it was mentioned in the video
Really? please double check why the US Fed had to increase the interest rate?

founders and big investors are misusing invested money it seems. Who will spend 2500cr on ad/campaigns when their income is 2400cr. By seeing companie’s financial numbers, these seems aren’t really losses. RBI and SEBI definitely need to look into this.
Its a private company, SEBI cant do anything.
And they took, international loans, not from SBI, PNB, so RBI cant do anything
You are doing an incredible job Sir, really really love the content you put out, you are very amazing and helpful and your videos likewise, thank you so so much for doing what you do, lots and lots of love, support and appreciation from my side!!! I feel super lucky to be learning from you:)

The way 4RA displays stats and info, makes deciding bets so much easier!
Rather focusing on advertisement, if they really focused on improving the content , then today byjus would be the best company in india
Exactly what people miss in this saga.
5 years ago, Literally they made me sob by coming to home making me feel like a fool.
Oh my god....They literally told me that I should buy their class or else I end up nowhere.
I wish I should have outspoken little me just felt worthless .
They literally asked me questions from physics when I am commerce student saying that everything I know is wrong, infront of my parents wasting 2 hr of mine
I just installed Byju's and searched to find something helpful but they called me repeatedly , I uninstalled the app.
But oneday my mom innocently picked that up they said I am selected for scholarship and my mom believed that and gave them our address.
I know it's not appropriate to feel like this but I am glad for their downfall honestly 😅
Oh god the way they said that I lack this & that . They asked me what I want to become in future I replied CA but they said I can never be one , The drama that happened that day.......oh god the marketting team is cruel to students.
Moral: earn money by sweating, not by sitting in a/c room
I've been neglecting to watch this vid all this time just coz I was a Byju's student till last dec and I didn't wanna know abt failure. But looking at how the faculty such a Sarmad sir, Shyam Sir and now even Chetan sir moved to unacademy , I immediately came here. Anyhow through this vid it all makes sense. Nice Case Study.
The people who worked at Byjus and who had bought byjus for their kids will give you the reason...

Most informative video seen on case study of Byjus. As an Edtech Startup we always focus on our content and don’t run behind money.
A minor correction. FLDG stands for First Loss Default Guarantee not First Loss Deposit Guarantee.
Thank you so much sir for decoding their downfall. It's very helpful for us to understand the core reasons.
With the entry of Ranjan Pai of Manipal, they surely have either delayed their demise or maybe a sigh of relief or could be up for sale. They don't have to lose Aakash Institute, their crown jewel.

Thanks for ditto ....I was searching for one company like it
I do not know how investors can give money and book such high losses.
Lesson learned “We should look for steady growth instead of sudden growth..!!”
Be Indian. 👍

Even i also got cheated by the BYJU'S company because of their fake promises made by a salesman 🤬😞 Anyways thx for the case study

I definitely see Online Education as one for the future and is indeed our present. One possibility is we might not even get to see a school in future (maybe 50-60 years down the line) this is where the role of these companies will come into play 👀
Yaa bt,Education is going to be free of cost .. Not any premium product
most students study from youtube a lot nowadays maybe later in the future ads will pay the cost
This has been very very insightful
The bad practices by sales person are true. One of my close friends worked in sales for them.
This was such a great explanation!!! Thankyou so muchh ❤
Unpopular opinion : Cred will also fail to generate profit and will be sold for lower than current valuation..!!
Cred feels like marketing company
First time (I'm surprised to say) I liked the POV since it was simply an expression of one's thoughts - @Suhel is truly a conversationalist
Great analysis! Well done
