The Magura Hymec Clutch Kit will dramatically improve the clutch pull and feel on your KTM 790 Adventure / R or Duke. KTM has been known in the industry for having some of the best clutch feel for the last 20 years.
Unfortunately on the 790 they decided to go with a cable clutch. If you're tired of a hard clutch pull or inconsistent feel then this complete hydraulic kit from Magura is the answer to fix any of the problems with the stock cable-type clutch.
The Magura Hymec clutch kit is an easy to install alternative to a mechanical clutch. This system replaces the clutch lever and cable with a small, lightweight hydraulic system for improved clutch control.

Thank you for making this video. I’m putting this kit on my 2023 KTM 890 Adventure R.👍
Thank you so much for making this. The factory repair manual was completely useless on steps needed to replace the clutch cable.
You're welcome, we found the same thing when trying to make the video!
Really thorough video, great reference for under-tank maintenance in general too!
Thank you. This is my next upgrade. This and a pc-v. Be safe!
Excellent video. Doesn't get any better than this! Thanks. Will be ordering this kist Tuesday.
thank you for posting this video!
Considering the Magura Hydraulic clutch for my KTM 890 Adventure. Only concern is having to cut the stock wires. Like others, I wish it had a connector at both ends. Any solution for putting a quick connect at both ends once you cut wires?
Thanks for great install video.
Great video. I just wish you could see the free play adjustment better. That's the only reason I looked for the video and unfortunately you covered ir with your hand.
Yeah, sorry about that. Basically all I did was hold my finger on the shaft and pull out on the arm then look at how far my finger had moved away from the rubber boot. It sounds complicated in the manual but it's a very quick and easy adjustment to make.
Hi Sir,
Could it fit also on Duke 890 R ? They didn’t mention it. Maybe it’s more powerful and has stiffer clutch springs?
Furthermore, Seems that slave cylinder has not a nut but it’s kept in place by the actuator shaft. Doesn’t it shake because of vibrations? Thank you in advance
awesome video guys. very clear!
So did it actually have lighter clutch pull?
Why doesn’t touratech offer the 890 version?
This actually fits the 890R as well.
@@TouratechUSA ok thank you. You might wanna add that description and also change the name to 790/890. I thought I looked fairly well and didn’t see any mention of 890.
Great video on install but how about function and feel vs OEM cable
you are very clear - thx
Hello, can the heat of the engine cause oil overheating problems with consequent wear of the actuator seals? Thanks
We haven't experienced any issues with that. The slave cylinder is remotely mounted off the engine case so the engine heat transferred to it isn't very significant.
Is it compatible With the 890 adv r ?
We don't have confirmation of that yet. I don't expect any major fit issues but we haven't had a chance to test on one yet.
I have question, for long term usage which one of the most disadvantages for hydraulic clutch vs cable clutch?
For long term use they both require maintenance. If you flush and bleed the fluid annually in a hydraulic clutch the seals will last longer than most folks own their bikes. Clutch cables are harder to replace and more expensive than hydraulic fluid but make the system work like new again. Neither option is really easy to fix on the road without spare parts. There isn't much between them as far as long term use is concerned.
Very good upgrade . Excellent and detailed video
Great job!
Hey, thanks for nice video! Can you provide us with part number for this Magura KIT. Best regards. 🔝💪😎
But why add complexity to the bike when you can just make the clutch arm a bit longer for a softer pull
The hydraulic clutch is self adjusting and will always have a smoother pull than a cable unit regardless of the actuating arm. If all you want is a lighter pull the arm is a good option.
Still pisses me off the 790/890 isnt hydraulic from the factory like almost all KTM bikes. Weird they went to a cable but only for this. I don’t know maybe 1290 too but not sure
I'll just keep the old clutch.
lmao
Pretty cheap of KTM to not install a hydraulic clutch from the factory..
That's total crap to have to cut and splice wires, should be plug & play.
