Alright fam, let's mass-request songs from Shogun so he does the whole album now.
Mike, this whole album will blow your mind, and you have my word. This is the simplest song on it, and you'll have a wild experience from the song Kirisute Gomen all the way to Shogun. Even the bonus tracks. We're really looking out for you here. ❤

I wish you would do an album reaction to “The Sin and the Sentence”, “ What the Dead Men Say “ or “ Shogun”. If not, have you reacted to “ In Waves”, “ Shogun” , “ The Defiant”, “ Bretrayer” or “ The Wretchedness Inside” ? I didn’t see them listed. “ Betrayer” is probably my favorite drums. Shows Alex’s talent so well. Alex’s drum play through’s of the songs are crazy to watch. He is so fast ! Love me some Trivium! Great reaction!

Shogun is easily the most cohesive album while The Sin and the Sentence and What the Dead Men Say are pretty much just collections of songs, so I'd prefer it. Mike would love Travis' drum compositions more than Alex's, I have a feeling.

Great band! They have a lot of talent and have only gotten better with time and after finally settling on a permanent drummer. The Shogun album is a personal favorite, but anything off of The Sin and the Sentence or What the Dead Men Say will feature their new drummer who is an absolute beast.

This really isn't my go too music at all. The guitar playing was good but the drummer had my vote on this 1. This singer with the long dark hair 🙉🙉🙉

Nick was their 3rd best drummer, but the gap is really wide between him and the top 2. Travis and Alex are genuinely god-tier, top of the 2000s metal food chain, supreme badass drummers. Travis wrote the drum parts for this song, and Nick had trouble keeping time for Travis' songs. He was Travis' drum tech and replaced him when Travis was fired over disagreements with tour scheduling and creative direction.
This song is the least guitar-centric on the Shogun album. If you check out Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis, Of Prometheus and the Crucifix, Insurrection, Like Callisto to a Star in Heaven, and Shogun, you'll probably end up loving Matt and Corey's guitar playing a ton.

@@chrismeadows4216 I don't know much about Travis, I wasn't into Trivium at the time that he was drumming for them, same with Nick really. I only really found them and dove into them around the time of The Sin and the Sentence album. I absolutely love Alex Bent, dude is incredible, but after going back and listening to all their albums I could tell a huge difference in drumming, not so much in terms of actual playing but technique, and timing, just the cadence of the drums in the mix. I don't have anything against the other drummers, I think they were all really talented but Alex is in a whole other level. I'll have to check out some videos with Nick, any suggestions?

    • @chrismeadows4216

@@Tyler-hr8hj I really don't like recommending Nick at all. He sped up every song it was possible to speed up on and couldn't keep time. He milked double kick a ton.
I guess Dusk Dismantled, Forsake Not the Dream, and Shattering the Skies Above are great on-record, but Travis' stuff is much better than that, compositionally and technically. Even the Ember to Inferno and The Crusade stuff.
I'll tell you Travis could get lazy live and play easier versions of songs, and Alex is better in that he can play the album parts nightly, but there's not the extra percussive snap. Travis played with aluminum sticks, and he had more groove. Alex on Sin is pretty dull for me, but Alex on What the Dead Men Say is compositionally a lot better. The important thing is creating parts that serve the song well.
