A 1" PAL telecine transfer of the film was sent to Dave Brubeck's management in the mid 90s.
these guys could do no wrong. I don't hear anything but masterful playing. This music and these musicians contributed moments in time that shaped jazz music forever. All my thumbs are up.
One the greatest jazz compositions of all time!
This is truly a masterpiece. That change of rhythm and multiple transitions is mind blowing, and that was over 50 years ago. Love it ❤
It is great to see the young Paul Desmond improvising with full concentration. He is my Idol.
A nice touch: sticking the mirror on the piano, don't you think?

They’re so tight rhythmically and melodically, beautiful…I honestly checked the speed on my UA-cam player thinking somehow I had it faster, but it was on normal!!! They played it so much faster than the album, the bebop feel in Brubeck’s solo feels awesome!
Struggling ?!!?!?! The Desmond is effortless in anything he ever played... if the comment was towards the expressions he made , The man had a sometimes stupendous lung capacity for the amount of smokes he consumed ...
Jazz isn't usually my scene, but this is on another level.
?!
I Just LOVE this piece of music,Ive met Joe Morello and recieved a 2 hour intensive drum lesson from him,Treendous Guy and Musician........Great Clip!!!
Joe Morello is the bomb!
Really!?
The Brubeck Quartet in my country!!! Wish I could go back in a time machine to be in that studio! Love the little interaction between Gene and Joe at 4:39, looking at each other and anticipating what Dave an Paul will do XD
Life happens. Jazz helps. This CERTAINLY helps!👏👏👏
I absolutely LOVE this song. My jazz band is playing it this year and I am SOOO excited :)
My favorite piece of his.
RIP, man
Finally, i get to see blue rondo played. Thank you so much for uploading this!
I can't get this goddamn song out of my head
I think it would've been hilarious to see the bassist, Eugene Wright, put on a pair of the same styled glasses to see if anyone caught on to him. If the others accidentally caught a glimpse of it I'm sure they would've, at least, cracked a smile.
I think when Dave wrote and played this piece we definitely had too much Kona coffee before our jam session and there was no jam on the toast we saved it for the party‼️. ♥️🎼🎼‼️
My father loved to relax with the amazing album "Take Five," and this composition along w/the classic title track are two of the greatest jazz performances ever recorded. God blessed the world in a big way when these men playd their music. Thanks for this masterpiece. Peace, G-man
Album title was actually "Time Out" - "Take Five" was third tune/side one.
@@x.y.8581 Thanks for the clarification. The album is one of my favourites. Happy Thanksgiving!
masters all of them - brilliant artistry
Love love love this
This is a live slightly changed version and still sounds good
Best version of this song. ❤
SUBLIME SUBTONE BY PAUL DESMOND IS SOOOOOOOO KOOL> 1ST SAX PROF. TAUGHT THIS TO ME> LEARNED HOW TO " GROWL " ON MY OWN> STILL DO BOTH TODAY< IN MODERATION(JAW SURGERY)>(ARTHRITIS))
What kind of vandal would have sought to destroy this? Don't understand how people thought back in the day.
Feb '62 taping (1 Apr telecast) of "The Dave Brubeck Craven Filter Special"
What a gem! I never thought I'd see it played.
Thank you so much for uploading this.
ENORME!
Great video, thanks! The camera work was fantastic, and the performance was right on!
Pure geniuses at work here! Today's artist couldn't even begin to dream up that kind of talent...especially live!!
ELP added their own twist to it. Keith Emerson loved playing around with such things.
what a genius
ah! so much faster live
Incroyable et extraordinaire merci
Oh that Aussie TV had color when this was filmed.
Brilliant. Timeless
派手さはなくとも先駆者的な人達にはいつも感動する。
I wish the bass player got a solo too!
theres no drum solo either.. Its dave and Paul's song.. Plenty of other songs on the album focus on Eugene and Morello..
wonderful ...
Makes me think of a '63 Continental cruising down Sunset.
Spectacular.
they speed
it's insane to me that a good 80% of the band is all just the same guy
RIP Dave.
@wasian666 yeah this is like double speed compared to the album haha, i learned it on piano and first tried to play along with this version...yeah friken right haha super fast speed
paulcorgan same speed I guess:

That tempo change at about 4:20!!!!!
Isso sim é Jazz de qualidade.
This was fantastic.I saw some negative comments a few times, probably idiots who listen to Rapp.
Nos queda su música. En paz descanse.
Nice!good jazz
genios!!
Thank you so much for posting this footage, I think this is the only footage of brubeck playing this live on youtube
Wow this video is so old
Joe Morello, I guess...
they play a bit too fast in my opinion, but desmond's solo is wicket. even compared to his other performances.
they probably had a time limit since this was broadcast on TV
I did notice it was rushed... the Carnegie Live is canon to me I guess.
That’s jazz!!
I thought it's an intro of Mozarts piece
Yow. Thanks again for posting this.
joe morello
R.I.P.
What is the first man saying
You know how sometimes when you eat way too much cheese in one sitting and you end up getting diarrhea afterward? And how it ruins your entire day? This song is like that. But, much better.
Muito bom.
is this a boss theme from some Final Fantasy
Who is the drummer?
the great Joe Morello, of course
hahah well pointed
what's a Craven Filter?
Yay . . . "INSIDE STUFF. They're using vibes again. And Sonya ? Well she just travels with them." Quote courtesy of Rodney Dangerfield's NO RESPECT,
Is it just me....or do they all look alike. Besides the bass. Talented musicians though. Love this song.
It's you.
Nas brought me here.
A bunch of Jazz Nerds.
Great to see him play! The sax player is strugglin' a bit.
I got this tune as 6:44, from the album. That's a killer.
I don't Paul Desmond (the sax player) is struggling mate. If anything, the rhythm section and Mr. Brubeck are a little shaky in the b section. Very meaningful playing nonetheless.
The 9 dislikes come from those who couldn't make it to the TV studio I guess
