yeah i think it's weird that carnivores have to chose their food, for a carnivore food is always food. It's already hard to find players on Gateway and even harder to find the specific species you want to hunt.
Yes I agree, maybe devs can minimise the role of diet on carnivore. Like food is food but specific carnivore have a preferred food and it give some advantage like boost +10% scent, or stam but surely not rely all your growth on diet
True, deinosuchus is almost literally impossible to get a perfect diet with, food is even harder to come by than with other carnivores, and the triple hexagon diet may as well not exist for deinos its so rare
@@owengoddard326for hex u just get schooling fish (the small ones jumping out if water) theb put them on the beach in the sun for 5 mins. It'll cook them for hex
Dude this idea alone adds so much more benefit to large kills that actual corpse game will be like, fun. imagine wanting to genuinely keep ur food because it benefits u more now
Just 2 minutes in, and i already hardcore agree with that. The amount of times we kill something, lets say a huge stego, we got our lines etc our diets from the organs, and then comes the grace period of healing, and letting food drop again. Giving other smaller creatures a chance during our downtime to not be eaten. But then comes part 2. Where we return to our kill to top off after a while, the diet is only // at this point, and even tho there is more then twice the amount of food to feed 8 raptors, we are forced to hunt another creature, because we need to top off our S and Dots. So yeah, that first 2 minutes in strongly resonates with me lol. Edit: Yup , this is a improvement to what we currently have, i favor this idea out of the 2 tbh. Simple, Works.
I think it might be better to separate organ functionality and normal meat functionality by making it so that organs give you the base buffs like better night vision etc and normal preffered food will increase growth time or vice versa
I think we should completely forget about S, lines and dots and instead rely on a calorie system and at certain thresholds of sustain in calories you get the tiers of buffs for growth. Well fed (80-100% Hunger filled) = 100% growth bonus. Fed (50%-70%) = 50% Growth bonus Peckish (20%-40%) 25% growth Below 20% growth is halted. I'd like to see a system where a malnourished dinosaur slowly loses weight instead of having debuffs. Weight plays a good role in combat so I thought it was interesting and on the other side, a constantly well-fed dino could exceed it's normal soft cap weight by a %. A calorie system would highly encourage Carnivores to hunt bigger or same size preys for calorie intakes but not to discard organs, we could say that organs are high calorie sources so scavenging is still worthwhile and hunting smaller games not useless entirely. As for the stat buffs we could simply apply them to all dinos across the board by default to their default values and thus create new default values. Or we can keep the diet system only for herbivores since for them it actually makes sense and gives them a bit of reasons to fight over food sources. It would encourage people to eat a stomach full more often then holding off on a present meal and pray for the next dino/organ for diet.
I personally really like this solution. There's and game on Roblox called "Prior Extinction" and it has a similar system, it works really well. If you eat anything of the preferred foods list then you get buffs and an increase in growth speed. I feel like with this system there could be a sort of symbiotic relationships with small scavengers and large hunters. It would be the same how some fish clean sharks teeth but in this case scavengers would follow large carnivores around and eat the organs since the large carnivore doesn't have a use for it. To further build on this we could add a mechanic that makes it so that the large carnivore gets something out of having scavengers around. Also great video keep it up!. Edit: another idea as well is to have different levels of preferred food for example a trike would be at the highest of the preferred food for a sub or baby rex and a dryo would be at the bottom. While hunting a Dryo at that time would still be viable, if you came across a trike body then it would will your bar something like twice as far. I feel like this idea may be a bit of a long shot but i just wanted to put it out there.
Finally a definition in this game between whats a herbivore and whats a carnivore, both were eating plats its just that the other ones fought back and others dont XD
Genuinely I like this idea so much, it's much better than the diet carnivores currently have. It makes things feel more natural and way less annoying for players
Absolutely disagree with this video, how you explained your different diet system is literally no different to the current diet system. A large Carno killing a baby raptor it will barely fill your current diet, that’s exactly the same as what you wanted. A large kill gives you all 3 diets if you eat what you want, which is the same as a male lion in a lion pack. He eats what he wants ( the intestines etc) , then the other 9 females get what’s left
So after watching your video and slyced video I came with an idea that kinda combines points from both ideas When comes to the diet bar thing, i liked slyced idea more with the protein and fats bar getting filled from the organs, while the body filled the stomach separately, kinda like how it is now but updated I personally would get rid of preferred food, bc if we go realistically ,if there's an injured zebra and a healthy grown buffalo, the lion wouldn't go “ah the zebra ain't on my diet, i gotta go with the Buffalo„ Nah the lion would go for the zebra obviously So i would get rid of carnivores preferred food, that way you don't have to worry about what dino you can hunt and what you can't, but simply go for whatever you want or whatever is available Moreover, i think that organs filling a lot of your stomach shouldn't be a thing even if it make sense, since i believe that filling your stomach should be the body's job, not the organs The organs can still fill a little bit of food, but it should mostly be the diet bar instead That way the body and the organs can equally have importance Since a lion wouldn't kill a zebra and once it eats all the organs would leave the body cuz it doesn't need it However i did enjoy how you made the organs less important to make them less desirable to eat so that way scavengers and other weaker dinos have something to eat So i came up with, instead of organs why not left overs Usually after you finish the body and organs what is left? The bones ofc Obviously right now we just have a spine and ribs But what I'll do is make a full skeleton and once the bones are the only thing left There would be scraps of meat aka left overs still attached to the bones, which to benefit the scavengers would take 2x longer to rot than the body Also an untouched body unopened will rot slower than an open body, i think this would be great for anyone that kills for sports and leaves the bodies just there so that it gives chanse for anyone to find them and eat them Another thing I'll do is add more organs, mostly cuz why not, I'd add a brain, liver and kidneys just cuz why not And last thing now, this is something that is only attached to the stomach and not diets at all and I'll understand if people don't like it since i don't have a real purpose for it but just add it for realism purposes Usually in zoos pretty often an animal would be overfed by the zookeepers since the animal doesn't have the thought to stop eating else it'll go fat, it just keep eating until it becomes a balloon So a scenario where you fill your stomach to 90/100% and you keep that % for a long period of time consistently, your dino will become overweight, which would result in faster stamina drain, becoming slower, more suseptible to disease and so on And the same thing with keeping your dino constantly for a long time to 1/10% food, it'll bevome underweight and physically weak and once again suseptible to diseases and so on Now this process usually would take a long time, and the majority of players won't have an issue with it since keeping your dino to constant 90/100% or 1/10% would be pretty difficult to do This is just added for i guess more realism, but I'll understand if you don't like it Those are my ideas in general, feel free to ask any question or add something more if you like it.
@@shaxo5364 hmm, sounds interesting! I would indeed like for carnivores to eat whatever they want and maybe have it so the bar fills slower if they eat something that realistically wouldn’t fill them up and they’ll have to go for larger prey so they sustain themselves.
@@mrbeardmTV well that'll naturally become a thing If your playing a big dinosaur, you'll need a big prey to fulfill yourself, and this includes not just your stomach but also the nutrients you get.
I agree the best approach is to have organs contribute to the diets while flesh fills the stomach. Adding more organs would enhance the system, with the liver being the most valuable, as it should contribute to two diet categories simultaneously. Additionally, certain organs like the eyes and brain could be reserved exclusively for smaller scavengers, making them inaccessible to larger carnivores.
this is actually a good system for carnivore it would make the game less carnivore biased but i think a good idea is that organs will give buffs like if u eat a heart u get bigger damage if u eat liver or stomach ur metabolism gets slower so u can go longer without eating and lugs will give u less stamina drain and the buffs arent permanent so u cant just 1 shot anything by eating 90 hearts

Nah the lion would go for the zebra obviously
So i would get rid of carnivores preferred food, that way you don't have to worry about what dino you can hunt and what you can't, but simply go for whatever you want or whatever is available
Moreover, i think that organs filling a lot of your stomach shouldn't be a thing even if it make sense, since i believe that filling your stomach should be the body's job, not the organs
The organs can still fill a little bit of food, but it should mostly be the diet bar instead
That way the body and the organs can equally have importance
Since a lion wouldn't kill a zebra and once it eats all the organs would leave the body cuz it doesn't need it
However i did enjoy how you made the organs less important to make them less desirable to eat so that way scavengers and other weaker dinos have something to eat

Another thing I'll do is add more organs, mostly cuz why not, I'd add a brain, liver and kidneys just cuz why not
And last thing now, this is something that is only attached to the stomach and not diets at all and I'll understand if people don't like it since i don't have a real purpose for it but just add it for realism purposes
Usually in zoos pretty often an animal would be overfed by the zookeepers since the animal doesn't have the thought to stop eating else it'll go fat, it just keep eating until it becomes a balloon
So a scenario where you fill your stomach to 90/100% and you keep that % for a long period of time consistently, your dino will become overweight, which would result in faster stamina drain, becoming slower, more suseptible to disease and so on
And the same thing with keeping your dino constantly for a long time to 1/10% food, it'll bevome underweight and physically weak and once again suseptible to diseases and so on
Now this process usually would take a long time, and the majority of players won't have an issue with it since keeping your dino to constant 90/100% or 1/10% would be pretty difficult to do
This is just added for i guess more realism, but I'll understand if you don't like it
