well since i have both of you here the weapon management got me thinking about magy and the poison thing and why not having magy not being poisonous but rather it rub its osteoderm on some trees and its the sap that does the poisoning so magy then shoulder bash things that are its size and slightly larger but can still get eaten by bigger or more competent hunter and get punish if you don't maintain your toxic coat
Lots of amazing ideas here! I’d like to add another one, what if when in its power swing stance, it has resistance to stunning attacks. Attacks that would knock it down would simply stun it, and those that would stun it would do nothing. Stego could have this too
I like it, it’s very fitting seeing as how their stances would keep them in place, similar to a fighting stance in people. Hold your ground sort of thing.
6:59 I've never seen a video in this genre of videos (ya know, videos of people talking about a dinosaur while various clips of it play in the background) where the youtuber actually acknowledges one of the clips and makes a joke out of it XD
A sparring-like mechanic for Kentro where it aims its spikes towards predators like a porcupine would be cool but I think it would make the Kentro almost unkillable for all small and mid tier carnivores. Balancing a living bear trap is very difficult, however just like the porcupine comparison earlier, using existing animals as inspiration would be invaluable. I’d propose using the idea of Kentro needing to maintain its spikes and take it to the next level by allowing them to use their immensely powerful spikes for defense, at the cost of wearing them down. After too much sustained use without maintenance they become fragile and you run the risk of breaking them which could take several hours to heal and lower your overall defense and offense. On the opposite side, people who take great care of their spikes and maintain a good diet would enjoy larger and stronger spikes that don’t break so easy and deal normal or higher damage depending on how well you take care of them
the idea about sharpening your tools should be for most dinosaurus wether it be spikes horns claws and maybe even teeth for teaming up with pteras to clean its teeth
Regarding the proposed “maintenance system”, it would make sense maintaining a good would reduce how often you must “repair” your dinosaur’s natural weapons. Overall though, I really like that idea - as it would also work for other types of natural weapons - and, given the fact that claw sharpening features prominently in the concept art for at least bary and cherri, I suspect the devs are already thinking along similar lines.
The KINGfisher has returned Also imo the tail spikes of kentro (and stego) should be breakable so that opponents can disarm them slightly. Maybe each tail spike has a certain amount of health and breaking them decreases the kentro/stegos damage. This would add a lot of mindgaming to kentro pvp
I like the sharpening spikes idea to improve defence and bleed, I’m pretty sure carno sharpened its horns in its concept art and both Baryonyx and deinocheirus sharpened their claws in their concept art, Maybe if added ingame this could increase damage and or bleed of those attacks (carno charge, bary claw attack etc)
I like your mechanical ideas for the kentro I have an idea for a Dino to compliment the elder system. A tick bird for parasite removal. My idea is a micro raptor (or another small flyer/glider) that feeds by finding other adult dinos and picks them clean of parasites. This creates a new playstyle omnivore. Encourages a new Dino interaction. It can give a limited time buff for an sub adult or adult Dino. And can be a reqirement for a Dino to achieve elder stage, by them needing to be picked clean of parasites once. I'd make the tick bird Dino on the diet of every juvinal carnivore but not on Aly adult diet. Once a Dino has been cleaned of ticks. They can have a glow I scent that they won't need to be cleaned of parasites for at least an hour or 2. So that makes the tick bird move on to find other adult dinos to try and clean. And of course risk getting eaten.
With pots kentro tlc around the corner I hope they also give it some sort of unique playstyle like the isles instead of just running and stalking bleed
"Erm, actually, it has a tail with spikes on it, so clearly it will just be an exact clone of Stego" - most intelligent Isle player, the reason shampoo bottles come with instructions, brain probably looks like the surface of a beach ball.
@@IndominusRex-wc1ey I don’t get how that shot is bad? Its. Oversized kentro literally spiking a spino in the FACE and it fell over when it was on all fours and up a hill

Awful scene 0/10 - just use Stegosaurus and all the problems fade away LOOOOOL (besides the spino damn near getting airtime when it falls)

Something I'd like to note, a more recent book by Darren Naish supports Kentros side spike being on the hip, so I wouldn't say outdated just yet but definitely in debate (also that was a funny fnaf reference you made 😆)
I disagree with the weapon management idea. Though I find the idea of temporarily boosting them like sharpening horns or claws interesting. As that would require planning and strategy. But I don’t think a kentro’s spikes should fall off. That would almost be like an anky shedding its osteoderms. Deer antlers are weird in that they shed are basically the exception. Few animals shed their headgear. Personally, I think kentro spikes should act as good deterrence against pouncing.
Man, spitting one perfect line after the other. "Stupid virgin Albertosaurus" "Chad Minmi "doing what Pachys do and attacking a creature for no fucking reason"
i think the weapon management idea is great! as long as it doesn't completely stop Kentros ability to attack.. i feel that if a kentro loses one of its spikes it still should be able to perform the same attack, js with less dmg and bleed buhh with a increase in knockback to balance things out!
I’d definitely like the spikey boi using its whole body as a deterrent, much like a porcupine. I’d think it be cool especially if you have to manage your spikes. I think herbi gameplay does need these kinda things to stay invested in the animal. Especially with the heavy carnivore bias that we all know exist
there is a MASSIVE difference between "viability" and power scaling. viability is simply whether or not a playable is able to survive in an environment with the rest of the roster, assuming it is played correctly.
