- Getting a massive kick in Superior Drummer 3 is easy. But the first step in getting massive sounds is about dialling in the tuning and pitch of each instrument and layer while also knowing which layer an instrument or sound needs.

I’ve been stacking kicks and snares since the 90’s. But I just got Superior Drummer 3 so was good to see how you did within it. Very cool!
Thanks for sharing! Glad I can help you along. There’s so much you can do with Superior Drummer 3
@@willytonezone You know what I don’t like the sound of is their Side Stick. I use the ones in Stylus RMX Spectrasonics. Have you gotten them to sound good?
Honestly I haven’t experimented much with the side stick but if it sounds better in that other software you are using than I would definitely stick with that.
@@willytonezone By the way after you have created the Open Stack how to you save it?
I went to more then user Instruments then save as and that worked but when I called it back up the stack worked but the other kick by itself wouldn’t play.
You have everything stacked on the kick? You might have to map the open stack to midi note C1. Just check if it’s all hitting the same midi note.
Hey, for some reason I can't find the "Punch Kick", is it in some particular library?
It should be in the superior Drummer 3 core sound library. Did you download all the expansions?
Sounds over processed to me, but I am a biased drummer. Best bet is too maybe do it in two tones, the attack and the body, and be able to adjust them in the mix. individually. Thx for the vid showing SD3
Oh yeah! I get what you mean, as you stack it, it might become too much or even the samples are a bit too plastic-y but that’s where some EQ and levelling will help out the sound.
The two tone thing makes a lot of sense. I try to implement that as well, basically for all the shells but as a 3-piece: attack, body, room.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad you could get something out of it.
This is awesome! How are you getting so much velocity from your kick? Mine is definitely not doing the same things. Thanks!
Thank you!! Is your midi note set high enough? Like in between 100-127? That’s where you will get the most impact.
Hello Willy, coud you help me please with superior. i just got splitter cable and i want to have to different sounds on it ( chinese+ splash ) but superior can't read it don't know why it read only tom which where the cable came from. thank you
Hi. Interesting situation. What format are these different sounds in?
Bro, re-do this video or re-title it because you are not creating a Massive Kick in Sd3 alone!
Maybe not massive more like punchy!
@@willytonezone what I meant brother is you were adjusting a bunch of crap in your Daw, before you even went to sd3, read your Title please.
Actually good point. I’ll add a thing in the video to skip to. I just wanted to be transparent with the viewer cause those plug ins are transforming the sound quite a bit. So I don’t want people watching to be confused why their drum kit doesn’t sound the same. But I appreciate your comment cause it helps out.
Hello! Where can I find this Punchy Kick? What exactly do you need to download???!!! Tell!!!!!!!
You might need to get download the extra superior Drummer 3 libraries to get punchy kick. It does come with sd3 you just might have to go further with the download packs.
