This video shows the steps of drawing a portrait of Ruth Bader Ginsburg with pen and ink on Ampersand Claybord. Ampersand Claybord is white scratchboard that has not been pre-coated with black India ink. Claybord is sold with just the white clay surface. That allows artists to draw in a regular pen and ink method (black lines on white), or they can brush in areas of solid black India ink and scratch out white lines in those areas.
I used a HAFF crosshatch tool to rule in the lines on the face. Unfortunately, that tool was discontinued by HAFF a few years ago. You might be able to find one on Ebay. Expect to pay about $150
Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a United States Supreme Court Justice. I'm not making a political statement other than she held a high position in our federal government. What I am showing with this video is how I go about drawing a portrait with pen and ink.
