I did this linocut in my first Printmaking class (Printmaking I) at Meramec Community College in 2017. The drawing came from a scratchboard illustration I did of an oak tree for TWA years ago. That tree was also used in the book "The Purpose Driven Life" and a version of it with roots added was used on the cover of that book. So I used that drawing as inspiration for this linocut. I used the Speedball Linoleum Cutters for most if not all of the carving. I now use the more expensive woodcut tools for cutting both wood and linoleum, but I may go back to the Speedball kives and buy the blades in bulk.
