I use to live in Greeley about 20 years ago or so, and embarrassed to say that I've never heard of any type of model railroad companies out there. Thank you once again for another great video!
You were talking about the Budd cars. I gave the NMRA all of the Budd drawings of the Rock Island Budd cars that were to be thrown away. I got them in 1966 just before coming home to go back to college. If you or anyone else wants copies of RI's Budd built passenger cars, contact the NMRA because they are original. There are several books of plans covering Budd cars of several railroads. These sheets are actually negatives of the drawings as supplied to the RI by Budd. The deal was that whatever I didn't take was going to be tossed. I left lists of bolts and nuts, fasteners, etc. One sheet showed the clearances of the trucks to the car and frame.

Thomas is a great way to introducing kids but often not followed up. Museums just have a Thomas day and then nothing. Because it’s easy. The Thomas people come to them and run everything. Museums need to do their own events. And introduce real trains. And spend the same on marketing as the Thomas people do.
@@ToyManTelevision well we dont have that issue luckily. We live near the Texas State Railroad and try to go ride the train with they have events for the kids. Hopefully will make the pumpkin patch ride again this year!
Thomas day at Strasburg Railroad is THE WORST. It's JAM PACKED, and this Fall 611 is coming around the same time Thomas will be running. Ouch, this one's gonna hurt. Regardless, my wife and I are "stoked" to see 611 for the first time!
So... I decided to do a little bit of research on our friend, Thomas the Tank Engine. Apparently, he had his beginning in 1945 in children's books called The Three Railway Engines. The books were very popular in England. By 1984, Thomas had his own series, which was narrated by Ringo Starr, Alec Baldwin, and George Carlin. So... It would appear that ole Thomas has been around for quite some time. As a kid......... I never knew him! I grew up seeing trains.... The real thing, traveling along next to the highways of the area where I lived. To me, they were a curiosity! They really seemed "alive"... But busy sort of doing their own thing. Big and monstrous, and chugging along the tracks. Just as I was wondering where they were going.. They would do just that! As if to snub me, they would follow the track away from the highway, and head in a different direction... I would ponder "where"! I did have an obsession with the more conventional "Steam" locomotive of the early years... The regular Choo-Choo trains that I read about in the Little Golden Books of my youth... or occasionally the real thing, as depicted on TV. I wanted one! Not one with a "face" painted on it... But a "real" train, which ran on real tracks! I instantly loved the wood-burners with the big diamond stack. I wanted a "train"... at a time when girls were not encouraged to have such things. My parents did not have the space or money to grant me my wishes..But, I remember tying my red wagon to my tricycle, and even tying a cardboard box on behind that, and making my own train! I fell in love with the caboose! No train was complete without a caboose! I wanted to have my own caboose! A special train car with an "upstairs"! I had a natural LOVE for trains..... All without Thomas, and when Ringo Starr was the drummer for the Beatles. My introduction to Thomas the Tank, was when my girls were old enough to watch the educational shows on PBS. Shining Time Station is where we had our introduction to Thomas and his friends. I loved the stories! All of the stories had a moral, and were entertaining. The animation was great! But it did not take long for my girls to out-grow the theme of the show, and I don't think they loved trains because of it. It was on the same genre as Barney the Dinosaur, and Zoobilee Zoo. Great entertainment for small children.. But they quickly outgrow these heroes. I think that Thomas is a great starting point, for small children to know about fictional trains, just as Lightning McQueen relates to Cars. But from there, if they continue to show an interest in trains, to learn what trains really are, and what they do.
I loved Thomas as a kid and I still watch it with my kids. I had my dads ho trains to play with so I knew thomas was just a toy train running on a layout. But it's the layout that had me so interested. The detail was always amazing and sometimes they had real running water. Oh and the "steam" that the little trains made always amazed me too. And I also relate to thomas today because I still like steam engines better than the diesels lol
Jerred Boshears I love the tv show. As you say the layout was great! As were the trains. But I’ll bet few of the kids riding the train have ever seen the shows. I hope some of them discovered trains while at the show. And Thomas can be a powerful tool in introducing them to trains. But Thomas is often both the beginning and the end. That was fun. Now let’s ride the water slide.
@@ToyManTelevision I think it depends allot on the kid too. My oldest son could car less and he's ridden on real steam trains more than once. My 3 year old has ridden it once too and loved it

Hope it feels better man
