This video on the N scale railroads was an absolute joy to watch. Beautifully done! Oh, and I loved the background music. This was so relaxing to watch. Your videos only get better and better, what more can I say, except thank you so much.
Very nicely done!! You guys mentioned Hurricane Utah, well, my wife and i were on a driving tour of some of the national parks and wound up getting so turned around that we decided to as for directions. We saw a Hurricane PD vehicle parked at a convenience store and waited for the officer to come put so we could speak with him. sadly. living in the Northeast, we've come to expect less than friendly attitudes from the Police but this man was just wonderful, he explained to us exactly where we were, and how we'd gone wrong. He also took the time to plot us out a route and also to make a backup route in case the main one was closed as it sometimes was during that time of year. He couldn't have been more friendly and helpful to us. We emailed the chief when we got home but never heard back from her. Oh well.
Have you seen our show on flying monkey mesa? Let Me see if I can find a link it will crack you up! If not just search for toy Man television flying monkey Mesa.
Thanks for your video. I am an N scale modeler. I suspected a lot of folks would correct your mistakes, and as I read the comments, indeed they did. My hope though, Is that your video will peak the interest in those who may not know about model railroading as a hobby. No matter what scale. As shown in your video there are several modular concepts that make it easy to get into the hobby even if you are limited in space. As you pointed out there is a social aspect to the hobby. The wonderful thing about Model railroading is it is actually a number of hobbies that coexist under the umbrella name of Model Railroading. Carpentry, electronics computerization, art, just to tag a few. With all the innovations in the hobby, it is much easier to get into the hobby, and gravitate to what interests you the most. Scratch build buy a kit or a ready to run model. For folks who like to create it is a wonderful hobby. You can be prototypical, whimsical, or in between. Just have fun Perry
We are building a t track module. Sort of a long story but after we posted the show we were approached by a group. Anyway I had no idea what a t track module was. We were told this was a t track club. And it was. But they brought t track modules. Anyway they are putting together the worlds largest t track in Kansas City. Hoping we can get out there.
Great coverage of the N scale convention. We enjoyed the show and spent quite a bit of time with Robin & Mike Fifer. This is the first time at an N scale convention for us. Lots of vendors also.
N scale rules! At least is does among N scalers who have made this tiny scale the 2nd most popular (behind HO only) among all model railroaders worldwide. I'm so glad that both of you, Dale and Karyn, had such a great time at the National N Scale Convention. I wish that I could have joined you there but I, to put it in the words of CNN's famous but now deceased chef and global traveler extraordinaire Anthony Bourdain, was off to "parts unknown"--in my 18-wheeler, that is. Unfortunately, my long hauls brought me nowhere near Salt Lake City. Enjoy N scale model railroading and make it whatever you want it to be. The Sky's the limit! I'm so glad that I told you about this convention last year. You can blame me for catching the N scale bug! LOL!!!! -from Tom Pilling
I do feel that at some point in time N will equal HO in popularity and pass it thereafter. N scale is today where HO was in the mid-50's, and things will continue to get better. One small point to remember, it's not the scale it's the "people" who create new and interesting "stuff" in the scale so others not quite so talented can have the fun they want. The "scale" the kids of today work/build in today will determine the popular "scale" of the future.
Thomas Boese Thank you, Thomas, for your comment. You are very optimistic. Unfortunately, manufacturing products for HO far outnumbers what's manufactured for N scale. To make matters worse, last week Walthers got out of the N scale manufacturing business for rolling stock and locomotives, selling all their LifeLike brand dies and molds to Atlas Model Railroad Company. Mike Fifer, a renowned N scale modeler and retailer here on UA-cam, once remarked that NMRA conventioneers looked down on N scale modelers as not being part of serious model railroading. That all having been said, I am an ardent defender of N scale. I challenge model train manufacturers to better serve the N scale community and stop overlooking us. Don't get me wrong. There are always reasons for optimism. Our national N scale convention is just one. Another are new manufacturers like ScaleTrains, who have raised the bar for the level of detail in N scale locomotives and rolling stock. I noticed you are a fellow N scaler, so I subscribed to you channel. But I didn't see any videos that you have posted there. I hope you will post some soon, especially showing any N scale trains that you may own or operate. Take care and happy rails to you! -from Tom Pilling
HI TOM!!! Thanks for putting us onto to this show. First we heard about it was your post here. What a great show!!! N scale is it's own thing. Very interesting how it "fits" into the model railroad hobby. Back in 76 when I gave it up there was one locomotive that actually worked well, the Atlas FA. Which was good for me as I was a real fan... But HO was the big draw, and Bev Bell cars were great for someone like me with a taste for odd roads. BUT Kadee cars were the same, only smaller. I had perhaps 100 cars, no repeating numbers, perhaps 10 PFE cars all with unique numbers and odd ball roads. Never did find any Pacific Northern and North Northern. BUt if the railroad had existed, someone would be offering it in N scale. 3D printing has really found a home in N scale as well. But even more or less modest railroads feature wide curves and long vistas with 100 car trains. IF thats what you like, really looks best in N. As a 3 foot gauge nut who loves steam locos and short trains, larger is better, but dang.... A Big Boy pulling 100 40 ft freight cars in Echo Canyon with little compromising to make the layout fit in a basement........ Did I mention all 100 cars unique paint and numbers.....
Wbmfishman Wbm hi!! Thanks 🙏. We do have some fun too. Karyn is in the other room building a model. She can’t put it away. I get it. Been there. Done that!
I used to do N scale years ago but then I started a family and was always to busy working trying to pay bills and the models cost so much to buy for n-scale..I am artistic and could make them but that took so long. Now today I have got into 3D modeling and bought a cheap little printer that prints in very good detail. I figured what the hell, I can start doing N-scale again and thought I was going to start small..got on amazon and ordered like $300 worth of stuff to just get started... I will still be using a lot of basics and building scenery from expanding foam and such..now I see the static grass, I will be doing that. I have already printed a few buildings that look very real, I have been printing horse fences and utility poles..with the 3D printer the possibilitys are endless!!
We are building a t module. its about 12 X 16 is all. The cool part of that is anyone has the room for that!! AND if you want bigger, just build 3 or 4. Then take them to a show and hook them up to 500 other ones!
Thank you for this wonderful video of the show, almost feels like I was there. I’ve had two chances in the last year to see the FREEMO Nebraska layout, it is exceptional. The first time was a year ago this week at my first ever show and the start of my journey into the hobby. They are the reason I chose N Scale. True artistry. Thanks again for sharing, your vids are very enjoyable and relaxing.
AWESOME!!!!! I missed this show but i have been to 4 of them and the are awesome!!! The Kansas City show i had my personal layout in it!!! Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work.
One of the highlights of the N Scale convention takes place every evening, room sales. People are selling (and buying) N scale trains in their hotel rooms. There is a list posted that lists all the rooms open for sales and you wander from room to room shopping.
Thanks for sharing this little road trip that you guys went on I’m getting ready to go to the Pasadena convention Center for the San Jacinto mall railroad club model train show coming up in January 2022 J.L. Fernández III 🌊🐺
Yes, indeed! Kato Unitrack is the best kind of N scale track in the model railroading hobby. I have used Kato Unitrack on my 1 foot by 4 foot N scale Inglenook layout.
I used to have to wire power leads every foot or so along the tracks just to keep power going to the engine. My Layout was very nice. Sadly I had to sell it when we had another child. That was 30 years ago now. Technology has changed how N- scale is. Very detailed. I picked up two N- scale train sets for $30. Its all good! Great video! I wish they had one here.
I love the video. I had just watched this video for the first time. I love N scale trains because a person can build a layout in a small space. I had built a N scale Inglenook layout recently. My layout is only 1 foot wide and 4 feet long. I had used Kato Unitrack for my layout and it is bullet-proof! I am planning on attending the 2019 National N Scale Convention next year in Chicagoland(if everything falls into place in my personal life).
There is model railroad museum in Balboa Park, San Diego. It's the worlds biggest model railroad museum. The railroad museum is called, the San Diego Model Railroad Museum.
I visited there twice and filming there. I first went there in 2016 and it was also my first film there. Then in May 2019, I came back there and filmed it too.
You guys should try and make your way out to Pennsylvania. there is several great rail museums and a few operating steam railroads across the state. 10/10 would recommend.
12:46 Hey, that's Tornado! Tornado is a British steam locomotive of the A1 peppercorn class design which all the original production locomotives were scrapped but in the 90s a group of guys got together and built her from scratch and the wife of the designer of the original engines actually named Tornado as the 50th member of the class(There were 49 originally built.) They used a technique to have a little money paid every so often. The guys who are building that Pennsylvania T1 are using the same technique. I think that would make a fascinating episode. Also happy Canada Day! XD Also have a great Fourth of July you two!
Need to look into the T1. So many locos being restored, OR just build from scratch! I now of 4 scratch builds, T1 make that 5!!!! Most of these cost about 2 million, so........
I use Fleishmann N gauge track for the OO9 track at the back of my OO layout (as you can't see the incorrect sleep spacing behind the scenery) and it even comes with telescopic sections so you don't have any fiddly track cutting. Just be aware when you start your N scale layout that age and eyesight are bigger factors than they used to be in your youth! ;-)
Me and my Dad have an n scale layout, we run all sorts, American, British, German, any thing interesting. Its great. The DCC engines you can get now are amazing, but we also have some older DCC too including that Challenger. The Challenger is quite happy pulling 20 Kato coaches!
"You are There!.." Wasn't that an early TV show? Great to watch. It is so true when I say, I can see more with your camera work than if I was there and straining to see this for my self. Another great adventure. "Well Done You." Greg and Jeanne (Yeah, I'm late posting."
Hi!! Just editing more stuff from depot days. Or daze. As I’m a bit dazed by it all. Anyway 3 modular model railroads one in n scale an 2 in hon3. All from New Mexico. Hum... what do you want to bet “they” now separate you from your layout when conning north across the border from New Mexico. No mr cop, New Mexico. It’s legal. Really.
Thanks for putting together this video and glad you enjoyed the layouts! Just want to point out that the Free-moN layout was a joint set-up with Free-moNebraska AND Silicon Valley Free-moN! So not just one group traveling 1000 miles, two groups traveling a combined 2000 miles (give or take).
Yep, Free-moN is really starting to grow. Our layout at the N Scale Convention this year was just the teaser. We're hoping to break records at the NMRA convention next year with groups from N Land Pacific, PNW, Minnesota, Silicon Valley, Nebraska, and more! Here's the teaser for that: i.imgur.com/fGhXSux.jpg
What a nice video. Yes, N scale is surely the way to go. Love the 3D printed stuff! And the idea of the pizza box layout is perfect. If I were to do that though, even though they don't use real pizza boxes anymore, I'd still start by ordering a pizza. :) I enjoyed this video very much!
Part of the fascination with trains (model or real) with me is, I think, not only the rolling stock but also the basic limitation - unless they're Toodle Train, they can only go where the track leads them.
Hi guys, I really enjoyed your video. Just thought I would point out that the two guys in the green jerseys you see are members of the NMRA in England, and I know them quite well! So those guys came from further east than Pennsylvania! Anyway, I just subscribed, so time to take a look through your other videos! Andy UK
Karyn: "I've really been wanting to do an N-scale layout." _Men around the country thinking to selves:_ (dang, another commandment broken - this time the one about "thy neighbor's wife")
If you love big trains you gotta love small scales. AND the prices are great. Tempted to buy a Big Blow at the show... Super nice.. A and Turbine both powered, each with the proper sound... all lights.. Several numbers. Great paint. 550. Just over 200 with no sound. but who wold not want installed sound... Just the electronics would cost over 200. So installed and tested with added features for 70 more?WOW. But cutting the scale cuts the price. AND if you want to keep 500 cars on hand, they fit in 4 drawers under the layout.
While I realize that this is a rebroadcast it is still good to see it again. Enjoyed watching it again. Was that Mike Pfeiffer looking at the modular layout?
there is something fascinating about a train, even to some of us big kids. lol. I see you got Mike Fifer on camera. he would be a great guy to chat with, if you want to get started in N scale.
Each year in January there is an open house for residents in the St. George and surrounding areas to go to various homes to see model railroad layouts. It is awesome. Hope you can make down to St. George one of these months and ride the Thunder Junction All Abilities Park train. It costs $1 per person to ride.
In November there is also an open house all over the area. I am in the one in the T-Trak section! I also am an engineer on the Thunder Junction Railroad. Love that train!
They are FUN. Good one in Salt Lake City November 10 and 11th! The Intermountain Train Expo. GREAT shows in and around Denver. AND the mother of all shows next year. May 10 Salt Lake and Ogden 150th anniversary of the golden spike with 2 steam locos, 844 AND THE BIG BOY!!. 4014. In August the National NMRA convention also in Salt LAke City AND in Sept the Narrow Gauge Convention in Sacramento.
Walt’s backyard ride on model trains were his hobby, Disneyland in Southern California was his layout for his bigger scale railroad that runs the park itself. Walt being Walt added rides, etc and made it what it is to pay for his trains
Yep in fact, the original plan was for a pretty small part just across the street from the studio. It outgrew that space in no time and they have to go to the South were the land was cheaper
I was about 4 when I remembered a conversation in Denver (I’m 12 turning 13) and i say the N modelers and they were my favorite even though I go for ho scale
HO is a good safe place to be at all times. I suppose it depends on what Proto types you’re into but the good honest to goodness railroading can often be modeled in HO. If you’re really into huge trains then you probably want to go with N. And if like me you’re into the narrow gauge is you probably want to go with a larger scale most people choosing SM3 or O scale. Or as in our case F scale.
Thanks for the tour of the show. it was great. Congrats on your winning bid on that Disneyland train set. I bet you guys are thrilled with it. Could you please do a review video of the Disney train set?
Great coverage! Loved your background music. I had always resisted N Scale since its beginning with its toy like appearance back then. However, I always admired it for what you could accomplish in the same space as my HO layouts. As long as it has taken for me to get as far as I've gotten with HO, I could've waited for N's perfection. Had you not mentioned it, or a 0-5-0 hadn't showed up to get the Brit going again, I would have sworn we were looking at HO! Well done! Happy Thanksgiving.
N scale for me is the thing for me and my wife. There is Bachman. Kato. And life like in N scale holy shit now to model all 3 Brands on 1 layout would Be awsome as hell love to see it Done.
AWESOME GOOD VIDEO VERY INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE THANK YOU BOTH FOR THE VIDEO I ALWAYS ENJOY YOUR SCREWING AROUND TIME I APPRECIATE YOU BOTH THANK YOU AGAIN JIM KAMMERER OF PHILADELPHIA PA 🚂🚂😷😷😷😷😁👍😄
I had a Mini Trix 2-10-0 Decapod, did I spell it right? I had tons of new boxed Rapido track about 50 Bachmann freight and passenger cars from the 1980s. I set up a huge rapido track on a great carpet. The big 2-10-0 pulled all 50 Bachmann cars with ease and at a good speed also. Rapido track is heavily made so it never came apart on the rug. Never would have worked with flimsy Atlas track. So N scale was good in the 80s too. My Concor cars were die cast chassis. Atlas cars were beautiful too. I sold it all for nothing in 2005 and sure wish I didn't. I have been back into American flyer since 1997 and have all factory clean VG to mint items. All boxed with new and many original boxes. I have no beat up trains like I see on some of the layout videos. Can you find an American Flyer show somewhere? Probably an S gauge show exists even tho don't like S gauge if it is not American flyer new and old.
Have you been following the Rapido UA-cam channel? Really good! They show the ins and outs of building in China. And they are building the best models they ever have. Check it out! The small scales have come a long way. The first n scale I saw that ran really well was in about 1975. Now there are so many great locomotives in N. And HOn3.
Did you notice that while you were discussing N-Trak modules, you were actually showing an T-Trak module. The sign shows up somewhere in the 7:?? area of the video. I noticed because I started work on a T-Trak video for our N scale club just yesterday.
Geeee no. Ah.. what is t track? Not t scale is it?? Didn’t see any t scale but then I wouldn’t. T is to small to see. Look at the cool locomotive!! Where? On the cool layout!! What layout?? I don’t see a layout. In that lunchbox!! I thought that was a sandwich! No it’s a layout. With 3 trains running between those 2 cities.
No, T-Trak is a module standard for N scale trains. It is definitely not T scale. Check out time codes 7:33-7:37 and 8:02-8:10; there you can see the T-Trak signs on the layouts.
They did do a trust on the Tornado. The original one was probably scraped so they built a trust on it by building a new one. There is a couple steam locomotive trusts in the USA. N&W Y6B trust and the PRR T1 trust.
at about the 10:45 mark, there is an SP display in a park. You mentioned putting extra stuff in there. Well, for real, in Monterey, Calif. at the Dennis the Menace Park, there IS an old SP steam engine that kids used to be able to climb all over! It's real!!
I am considering getting N scale because it's the closest I can get to the 1:100 scale of those gunpla robot models. I wanna have a serious historical layout but then out of nowhere there will be two robots fighting in the ruins if a city
Yup, I get it. Sora fun to do stuff like that. As a Gezer I now like slow point to point super real layouts. The layout at Garagemahal is really just an engine shop. A 22x12 foot engine shop. But as I love locomotives, and really like moving them back and forth light engine, whats better than a huge shop?
Great coverage of the show. The kids’s Pizza Box Layout Club is sponsored by the NMRA Northern Utah Division and the driving force behind it is Blaine Holbrook. While the idea was not invented here, I would suspect, with over 150 kids involved, it is the largest program of its kind in the country. If anyone wants more information on the project, go to www.northernutahnmra.org. Thank you again for including these great kids in your show report.
fairly new to the hobby how can I find out about large scale conventions after 2019 I understand there are no more garden railroad conventions that are listed I am into G scale and O gauge
Not sure. Looking into that. Large scale has come back after an extended down time. After 2008 many people gave up. To expensive. But now new layouts are everywhere.
Well, my dogs aren't barking because I have cats. This is an "after the fact" but my interest in N-scale has bloomed. You keep talking about building an N-scale layout. Just do it! I got a Tomix A+B layout which fits on the kitchen table. The track is flawless as are the points. Mike Fifer in your video stated the point construction is unlike anything else on the market. They are smooth and silent. I am assimilating the purchase and letting the ideas brew while thinking of plans for a nice layout. Sure would have enjoyed talking to the "pizza box" kids and their fantastic landscaping. Saw my friend Nate with Wasatch N-scale Modelers. My Series 200 Shinkansen is a beauty but you may need some hallucinogens to blend it into a Wasatch Front scene. I'll find a way.
I’ve heard of Tomix but don’t know anything about it. Need to look into that. I gave up hallucinations in favor of reality based visions. In other words modeling. Mostly working fine but I sort of miss the 4 foot tall Caterpillar like thing with the Longhorns. He was scary but gave great advice on many subjects. Can’t recall which ones though. But I’m sure it was good advice. If he came around again I’d ask him what scale to focus on.
Love your video! Your a blessed man to have a wife who loves your passion of trains, She's one in a million!!!
She’s amazing 😻
It’s really nice to see people get together and enjoy such a beautiful hobby. I need to get started someday.
Do it soon. It’s fun!!
Had a blast at the convention! First time attending but absolutely not the last. Pleasure meeting all of the fellow N-scalers. Nice coverage!
Karyn is bit. N scale forever. Which means we will be back!! Great show good people. But great trains!!!!!! Kato!!

About hurricane.
Atlas was in Hillside NJ, yes, and Lionel was on Union ave in Union NJ. We used to drool passing that plant as kids.
Edward JLo I went hillside Jr high. So I always used the hillside decals in the kits.

We are sold!!! Karyn is building an n scale layout but in the mean time a t track module. Kato is helping!! As is woodland scenics
Watching those trains is as relaxing as watching a fire in the fireplace. Very nice.
Thanks... This time of year I'm not keen of watching fire. Especially ones in your yard.
Yeah, and there's something special in Dale & Karyn's patter, too.
Thank you team for creating and sharing this video. Love the music and varied commentary, big fan of N Scale. Cheers James
No team. Just Karyn and me screwing around. Having fun.

The British train is a Peppercorn A1 Pacific in British Railway paint and a set of Pullman coaches...the one at 12:30 is a BR Standard class
W know nothing on these locos, other than the fact (opinion) that they have the most beautiful paint ever put on a piece of equipment!!!!!!
Yes...before 1948 (when a big “merger” happened) 70% of the British engines were painted (red, blue, three shades of green, and more..)
Saw you guys there Friday night but didn’t get to say hi. Great show, lots of great new products and fun! Thanks for your sharing.
Very nice and pleasant video. Looks like it was a fun convention. Thanks for taking us along.
A joy to be there.
Nice show coverage and I didn't realize we were sitting right behind you at the auction when you got the Disney set.
Thanks , Mike Fifer
GEE!! Didn't know many of the people there. Though we would see more locals.....
You know how us outsiders can infest an area !!! LOL
Mike
My son pointed out: "Hey there's Mike Fifer!" (I didn't notice myself at first!)
Cool !!!!! Mike
I didn't realize you were there, Mike! I was several rows back!
Your narration of the show just added to the fun. Thanks.
Thanks!! I tripped over my tongue at one point. Thanks 🙏
Thoroughly enjoyable laid back tour. Left me in a good place! Thank you very much.
Good time with good people... Loved this show!!
Thanks. That Free Mo setup is great. Just found out its a combined Nebraska and Silicon Valley Free-moN. COOOOOOOLLLLLL!!
XXX PINUP GIRLS JOKERS
AWESOME!!!!! I missed this show but i have been to 4 of them and the are awesome!!! The Kansas City show i had my personal layout in it!!! Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work.
Great show. Fun scale. Hope to make it to many more.
The Lunde Studios building kits look fantastic.
One of the highlights of the N Scale convention takes place every evening, room sales. People are selling (and buying) N scale trains in their hotel rooms. There is a list posted that lists all the rooms open for sales and you wander from room to room shopping.
Dang!!! Didn’t know about that. Would have been fun. If only to shop.
So much fun! Thanks so much for sharing the video.
Thanks fer watching...
Mike the subscriber here I think y'all are awesome! Congrats on landing the National N scale Convention. Good show! Jolly good show.
A grand day out. In fact, 3 grand days out!!!!!!
Thanks for posting. When I got back into railroading sold all my HO stuff and went N scale.
It’s really a great way to model Class A railroading.
Thanks for sharing this little road trip that you guys went on I’m getting ready to go to the Pasadena convention Center for the San Jacinto mall railroad club model train show coming up in January 2022 J.L. Fernández III 🌊🐺
I recommend Kato Unitrack for N scale layouts.
We are planning to build one.
I could sense your enthusiasm. Great.
Really a great show!!!!!
Heading there in 2 weeks!
I visited there twice and filming there. I first went there in 2016 and it was also my first film there. Then in May 2019, I came back there and filmed it too.
I love your music.
You guys should try and make your way out to Pennsylvania. there is several great rail museums and a few operating steam railroads across the state. 10/10 would recommend.
Its on our short list!
I see a few n scale layouts at a few train shows, I even see one at Huckleberry Railroad's railfans weekend
Thank you for sharing. From Canada.
This was delightful - very well done!
Thank you! I’ve always enjoyed painting clouds. I suppose it’s because I’ve spent so much time laying on my bed staring at the silly things.
The New T1 will be number 5550.
I use Fleishmann N gauge track for the OO9 track at the back of my OO layout (as you can't see the incorrect sleep spacing behind the scenery) and it even comes with telescopic sections so you don't have any fiddly track cutting. Just be aware when you start your N scale layout that age and eyesight are bigger factors than they used to be in your youth! ;-)
And how. No way I could work on one of these locomotives Much less build one
Me and my Dad have an n scale layout, we run all sorts, American, British, German, any thing interesting. Its great. The DCC engines you can get now are amazing, but we also have some older DCC too including that Challenger. The Challenger is quite happy pulling 20 Kato coaches!
That’s a cool model. Kato makes amazing models.
Glad I found this video. You two are awesome! Subscribed - thanks for making me smile and feel like a kid again.
Super!! Welcome aboard!
DIDN'T know!! WOW!! What a layout!! COOL trains too. You guys really have a thing. I assume there are more Free Mo clubs?
Yep, Free-moN is really starting to grow. Our layout at the N Scale Convention this year was just the teaser. We're hoping to break records at the NMRA convention next year with groups from N Land Pacific, PNW, Minnesota, Silicon Valley, Nebraska, and more! Here's the teaser for that: i.imgur.com/fGhXSux.jpg
Yeah - I forgot to bring the Silicon Valley signs :-( Very cool video, well done
So in Salt Lake City???? Wow!!!
It all worked so well together. Didn’t know!!! Great layouts guys!!!!! Not sure what we liked most!!! But that challenger sliding through it all.....
Sign us up for the Pizza!!!!! The olive and pepperoni northern railway. With extra cheese. (Cheesy pun)
If they don't shut it down I am looking forward the local train convention. I love dumpster diving (looking for new old stuff at low prices)
Geeez. Bet they pull the plug. But who knows.
Wow.. Really nice show.. thanks for sharing and keep up the great work.. Lance
Thanks. Back to depot days in 2 weeks. Geeezzzz there were so many models
I'm 40. The pizza box idea was imaginative and just as cool as the other layouts
Love that idea! Kids love it too
2 great, down to earth, humble human beings.
Blush... thanks!
great coverage! hope you can make it to Kansas City in August (We'll be operating the World Record breaking T-TRAK layout!)...
Hi again!!!
I imagine that you’ll be going to the NMRA convention in salt lake next year as well.
Oh my yes!!!!!!!!!!! Hope to have our "layout" (engine shop) ready. 25 x 10 engine shop in 1:20.3
Part of the fascination with trains (model or real) with me is, I think, not only the rolling stock but also the basic limitation - unless they're Toodle Train, they can only go where the track leads them.
Thank you for everything you share. Love your videos.
Thanks back!!! Much more to come too.
Hi guys, I really enjoyed your video. Just thought I would point out that the two guys in the green jerseys you see are members of the NMRA in England, and I know them quite well! So those guys came from further east than Pennsylvania! Anyway, I just subscribed, so time to take a look through your other videos! Andy UK
Karyn: "I've really been wanting to do an N-scale layout."
_Men around the country thinking to selves:_ (dang, another commandment broken - this time the one about "thy neighbor's wife")
Good old N Scale for a modeler like me this is the way to go a full sized model in a room that is small.
Yup!! That was a great show! Boy do those guys know how to put in a convention
there is something fascinating about a train, even to some of us big kids. lol.
I see you got Mike Fifer on camera. he would be a great guy to chat with, if you want to get started in N scale.
He seems to be the N guru. Need to connect with him for sure.
Awesome video! Thanks for covering this event.
Thanks. We had a lot of fun!!! Amazing whats being done in N scale...
Wow thanks for uploading this
Those conventions look interesting.
What a great video. Thanks for sharing, I especially liked the music you used. The whole video was awesome!
Geeee. Thanks!!
Really neat to see that Class A1 Peppercorn "Tornado" running in N scale
Really! Don’t see a lot of that modeling in the US. But super.
Love your videos i also model N scale so go for it its a lot of fun.
This was great guys. Thanks. Loved this
What a great convention!!! Karyn was an N scale fan, now totally fanatic!
That was last Tuesdays show. But now that we know more about it could do a better job. Interesting history!!! And rare find!!
Oops, sorry, I missed that video. I'll check it out.
At 10:27, the real life town shown (Roca, Nebraska) is only about ten miles from my house along with a lot of the other areas on the Fre-mo shown.
Cool. Didn’t know.
Great video.
Was a really really really fun show. The unskilled guys really know how to put on a good convention
Saw a reply but then it dissapeared. I hope to meet you guys there!
Hi. Tried to call. But got in late. Again. We will make it happen.
For me N scale is excellent for an HO layout to simulate trains far away on the same layout.
Can work well. On the narrow gauge club in Pasadena they have a mix of HOn3 and Sn3. And you almost don't notice. Really well done.
It would be nice to see a video of that layout.
ua-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=fInfV_cb4vg
Thanks, but that link did not work.
Yes. N is great these days. If I were building a class 1 Railroad layout starting over that’s what I would do fore sure!!
the Japanese have been doing the small module layout for many many years . being pioneers of n scale I suppose its bound to be .great vid .
We are sold. Just ordered the stuff Karyn needs to build a t track module
haha .good luck and hope you both enjoy it .
N scale for me is the thing for me and my wife. There is Bachman. Kato. And life like in N scale holy shit now to model all 3 Brands on 1 layout would Be awsome as hell love to see it Done.
How did I miss ya??!!
Hello from Kansas USA🇺🇸
Love the videos!
thanks
AWESOME GOOD VIDEO VERY INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE THANK YOU BOTH FOR THE VIDEO I ALWAYS ENJOY YOUR SCREWING AROUND TIME I APPRECIATE YOU BOTH THANK YOU AGAIN JIM KAMMERER OF PHILADELPHIA PA 🚂🚂😷😷😷😷😁👍😄
Hi Jim and thanks for the comment. This was such a fun convention one of the best we ever went to. I’m getting that Disney set was a real score
Great video 😁🚂
Thanks!!
Toy Man Television will you be planning on making an n scale layout with the DisneyLand train shown in your previous video?
And HOn3.
Dale do you hsve a train layout? Thanks for the enjoyable videos!
George
Yup. Sort of. Building one. The Sunday shows have been following the build.
10:08 Great to see Tornado flying the flag for Britain! Brilliant video guys 👍
Love these. British colour schemes. Art in motion.
The British engine is a LNER A1 I think it’s in steam in Britain and it goes by the name of tornado
That’s what we have heard. Love to see it. The British have recreated and restored many fine locomotives. Thanks for the information
One of those British steam engines looks the same like the flying Scotsman but it is different and it is a great model like the rest of the models.
Hi was just informed its a Tornado, a British steam locomotive of the A1 peppercorn class, Who knew???
Yes, that's The model is the Tornado model. The Tornado is a A1 4-6-2 ''pacific''.
It's real!!
Yes! This is so much like the display in Pocatello Idaho
@11:35. Me to wife: “Hey, there’s Mike Fifer!” Wife: “Rewind, I want to see!”
We love it. Want to do more of it too. Have some ideas to try. Totally fun
Cool show
The best!!
fairly new to the hobby how can I find out about large scale conventions after 2019 I understand there are no more garden railroad conventions that are listed I am into G scale and O gauge
Not sure. Looking into that. Large scale has come back after an extended down time. After 2008 many people gave up. To expensive. But now new layouts are everywhere.
Real Good Video !!!👍
Fun! Thanks
Karyn, kick Dale in the butt to start this project...or you just do it.
That was a nice show! Would you say that there are less younger (20 and younger) people building model railroads?
Okay now I have to pull out my N Scale.
DO!!!!! But you may want to get some of the new Kato track. They will actuly stay on the track!!!!!!
