For me, it took me a while to figure out how to study. I have to TEACH the content. Reason is because as a nurse, one of our roles is an educator. We have to educate our patients. I applied the teaching concept to my studying. I write my notes the way I would write a “lesson plan” and I automatically understand the information and teach the information to my study group. I did this and passed Pharmacology. Doing the same for my Fundamentals retake this fall. Thinking about doing concept maps for Med-Surg
@@justinejulien117 The “lesson plans” are in a style of concept maps. Then I get with my study groups and we talked about what we studied and whatever we didn’t know, the other person would educate us on it lol.

Hey girl😊💛, new subscriber here! i wish i came across your channel during my fall 2020 semester🥺. as a third semester nursing student who failed Adult Health (Med Surg), you breaking down how you prepared for lecture and how you worked diligently through lecture to highlight and take note of key components or processes your professor focuses on is a great tip!! With my school jus now getting back on campus in August of this year due to COVID, my nursing program decided to cram our adult health content into 1 months worth of us testing and learning new material WEEKLY! 😡 But what I can say now is that this video has given me a new perspective on how to manage my time, work, and studying for med surg which was the class i struggled with most. We also had Maternal Child nursing this semester too but i did well in that class🥴 lol. Thanks again, I know i will come back well prepared for med surg next fall!

Hey new subscriber 💕 I will be applying to my BSN program near fall ! What’s makes med surge hard ?? Everybody complains about it being very hard lol but I want to Ace that class stress free 👌🏾
T kay Hellllloooo, thank you for subscribing 💛 Med Surg is just a lot of content to fit into one class, which is usually why some schools break it up into multiple semesters. There are a lot of topics and so much detail, but the exams aren’t testing you on how much you can memorize, they want you to apply that knowledge and determine the best treatment for your patient. Most answers will be right, but you have to chose the answer that is the most correct.
Honestly, as disappointing as it is the book will teach you more sometimes and there may be more classes where you find yourself having to teach yourself. Its sad but true.
For practice questions, Kaplan (only because the school already purchased it for us) & Saunders. Oh and in the beginning i was using whichever course's books online qbank through El Sevier.
Back then I don't think I studied daily. Sometimes I'd try to study whenever I had a chance. Around 2- 5 hours. Constant exposure thoughout the weeks and then kicking it into high gear once the exams came.
I wish all med surg professors gave concept list or focused reviews, but it’s some that are so hail-bound on doing us how they were treated and I hate it so much.. no guidance whatsoever
