Thanks for watching. xoxo - Розваги
I remember anxiously waiting for this song on the radio as a kid so I could record it on my numerous mix cassette tapes. The 80s was a magical time
Ha, did the same as a 90s kid
Did the same here, ‘80s
Ah yes, miss those days.
I was a 90's kid but the 80's song still very much lived on. It was the same for me.
I used to do that. Buy blank cassette tapes to record songs. I would get mad at the DJ on the radio when he talks too much while the song is about to start.
I really miss these guys.
Rest in peace, co-singers Ben Orr (2000) and Ric Ocasek (2019).
Such a great band!
oh, it's so hard seeing those who mean so much pass away... those closer to us even more..
@@hubrisnaut Also tough because when a musician passes away, another part of your youth dies too. It forces you to face your own mortality, and reflect on the deaths of others in your life.
@@centuryrox yes, friend. I know...
@@centuryrox Yes I agree with you, it's like part of your youth is gone and your next in line. We really need to appreciate each other while we're still here. My Mom always use to say to me the moment you wake up in the morning there's your blessing tomorrow is no guarantee.
Aw shite.. Ric died? Bollocks...
Man The Cars. "Whose gonna plug your ears when you scream?" Astounding lyrics. Great band. RIP Ben Orr and Ric Okasek. Thanks for the great music guys. We miss you.
The plug-your-ears line I never understood tho
@@leojones22- Not a great big deal, but it’s actually “…who’s gonna plug *their* ears when you scream?” The meaning is kind of self explanatory. Screams are loud. Sometimes so loud, it feels like the sound is hurting the ears of whoever hears it. Covering or plugging the ears makes the screams sound not as loud.
Or are you asking what the line means? The question is, who will be there with you when you scream?
I love 80s and 90s songs. Goldan era for music.
Best period❤
The Cars had a LOT of hits in the 70s and 80s. Ric Ocasek (the skinny guy in the video interacting with the woman, who's Paulina Porizkova, wife of Ric, and model) was the frontman, singer, and songwriter. Ben Orr is bass player and singer on this song. Ric said that whenever they wrote a song that needed a really good singer, they'd give that one to Ben. Ric and Ben are now both deceased.
Sometimes you don't even know what you want or need, you just know that you want someone to be there for you. That's what this song means to me. Thank you for being here for your beautiful UA-cam family, Morenikeji. Seeing your pretty face always makes my day.
you’re so kind.❤️
That's EXACTLY how I feel, this song always makes me cry, I feel like that woman in the video. Plus that both Ric and Ben are gone. LOVE the CARS
Exactly
Great 80’s tune that is heart wrenching….
One of my favorite songs. Not just because it's beautiful, and evocative, but because I loved a girl like this. I'm sure many of us have. You think your love can fix somebody who's broken.
And realizing that one’s love can’t fix it, is even more sad.🥺
Its about a guy telling a high maintenance girlfriend he's on the way out, and just who is going to be there for her.
This band’s legacy will only grow in the coming years…they were so unique…blending pop, punk, rock, and alternative. And what other band could garner fans from all 4 genres??? And let’s not forget Elliot Easton, one of the most underrated guitarists ever.
One of My favorite bands of that era.
This melody is everything!
Drive is their best song, in my humble opinion. Rick and Paulina, husband and wife. Ben Orr from Cleveland ,Ohio.
RIP Rick Ocasek
RIP Benjamin Orr
Hypnotized by Fleetwood Mac is a rare gem. It’s not the usual Buckingham/Nicks collaboration.
R.I.P Benjamin and Rick. Benjamin was one of the best front men of all-time.
The cars were huge back then, one of MTV’s top bands.
Benjamin Orr died young
I miss his voice....GOD BLESS HIM!
Love this band. I'm a metal head mostly but this band has always been so great.
Drive, del grupo The Cars, es uno de los temas más hermosos que he escuchado en mi vida. Un abrazo desde Chile 🇨🇱.
I was in blessed to see the Cars in concert with Ben Orr before his passing..
Nothing is better than the 80s.. I forgot Paula was in the in the video wife to singer Ric.. RIP Ben and Ric
Paulina Porizkova, very pretty woman.
Was a model. Also a published author and very smart.
Her performance added such a deep poignancy to the theme of the video.
Beautiful song, when it was played at Live Aid over the famine scenes in Ethiopia everybody was in tears.
As usual, a spot on reaction, always nice to see your smile at the end!
You can't go on, thinking nothings wrong...
That's what I came here to say. She needs to see that, not necessarily on UA-cam.
Bowie canceled one of his own songs to show this at Live aid.
You are such a beautiful woman who is not afraid to share her emotions either happy or sad. You are a joy to watch and listen to !
Interesting! The two arguing are Rick Ocasek and his wife, model Paulina Poreskova while the singer in this song is Benjamin Orr. Rick wrote much of their music and sang many of the songs. The video shows the early days of MTV with bands exploring the new medium of visual art. This came out while I was ending a long term relationship. It has that quiet sorrow down! Thank you for sharing young lady!
😽💋🎶
@Christina Woolley: Paulina is portraying a woman with Bi-Polar and Ric was playing her Psychiatrist trying to get through her psychosis.
Paulina did very well back in those days. Ended up on almost every cover of every fashion magazine from back in the day! She was gorgeous!
THE CLASSIC SONG OF THE CARS
I remember this was played in Live Aid, not a dry eye in that crowd😥💕💕💖
One of the Best moments in live aid 1985 , the cars performancing this song drive...
This song has such a dreamy quality to it. It's like listening to something in a dream that you can just barely remember when you wake up the next day.
One of the first songs that really hit home about mental illness and being bipolar. In the 80s this was still A rare diagnosis.
Gorgeous song!! One of my favorites!! Thank you Mo for this!! Loved your reaction to this! 😊
Many thanksss!🙏😊
Mo, you get so caught up in the emotion of the songs you hear. It is so touching for me to see the expressions on your beautiful face which reveal this. You are such an honest person, unafraid to show how you feel. That too is beautiful. Thank you so much for making my day again. Colin from Scotland.
Some facts about the song/video:
. The guy who appears as the boyfriend having an argument is Ric Ocasek - composer, guitarist, and singer (not the singer on this song)
. The girl is the model Paulina Porizkova, a czech model
. Paulina and Ric met each other when they were filming the video and 5 years later they got married. Their marriage lasted 30 years. Ric passed away aged 75.
. The singer - Ben Orr (bassist, composer too) sadly passed away very young aged 53.
Beautiful song. One of my all time favourites. Only know the chorus but that's more than enough.
Beautiful 💘 song I want to thank god for the timing of my birth to actually live in the era when songs like this was written and sung to actually see people fall in love behind some of these great 👌 songs, very appreciative.
This was my go to song when i was early to mid teen in 1985. Like everybody else in my age in those yrs. Our whole lives ahead of us. 53 now
I can still remember exactly that this song flowed straight into my heart as a boy and stayed there for months and still is, it was in East Germany. Possibly one of the greatest songs of all time and Benjamin Orr is a great singer full of soul.
I saw that he touched your heart to. I've seen all the reactions and yours was the most honest and soulful
thanks for that❤
Even when your reaction was sad, it's is still beautiful. Don't change for anyone please.
Ben had that incredible beautiful voice and Ricks songwriting was remarkable, so many hits thru 3 decades, we lost both of these hugely talented men too soon
Benjamin Orr was a talent. Been dead for so long now! One of the most touching songs ever written. Listen to Stay The Night.
The Cars were such an enormous part of the '80s and the early years of MTV. And, one of their songs is part of one of the most famous scenes in movie history ... Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
One of the best songs ever made! This is so damn good!
I didn’t realize The Cars sung this song
@Brian Bogia Bassist Benjamin Orr. Sadly he died at the age of 53 in the year 2000.
This tune 1986 touches the heart strings
I love this song. The video is so emotionally raw. That bass line is kick in’. I really love and appreciate your honest expressions. Your channel’s the best. ❤️
One of the very best songs of the 80's. In my opinion, it's right up there with Spandau Ballet's "True" Thanks for the wonderful reaction and happy you enjoyed it so much.
Couldn't agree more!
Can I just say you're so beautiful. Just like this song. A classic 80's song which I like so damn much. Born in 1991, it feels like my brain is made to like older music.
This song goes right to my heart...💔
One of their best.. Brings back memories... ENJOY
I love this sound so much it was 1984 that i found my first love when i was back in school everytime i hear this sound i just feel to cry... it touch my heart a lot
First of all, you are so beautiful. I just discovered your channel and this is so fun because you're reacting to songs I grew up listening to with my dad. It's cool to see young people hearing them for the first time and not shutting them down.
Thank you❤️❤️❤️
I love that you feel what we feel. It makes the world smaller...
I was in high school when this video came out. I was kind of depressed at the time because I didn't have a prom date. I think the video kind of reminded me that I wasn't the only kid with problems and made me feel better.
The Cars were a great band. I'm glad you are enjoying these great songs from years ago. You show so much emotion in your face, I love your reactions. Have a wonderful day.
One of their biggest hits, but the singer (Ben Orr) was not the normal front man (which was Ric Ocasek). Just a beautiful song.
It is sad that The Cars never got the recognition and following they deserved.
They have so many great songs that deserved that "Number 1" spot.
I hope you come back to The Cars for a deeper look.
Great reaction, as always.
For a totally different sound from them try "Dangerous Type" or "Candy-O", if you want to rock.
We didn't think it was sad at the time. We thought it was a love song and it was used for slow dancing at social events.
Such a very special with touching lyrics. It is a pretty wonderful thing when you have family and friends who are in your corner when your in difficult situations! Loved your take on the song😃! Take care.
Thank you!❤️❤️❤️
Never be sorry for emotions i'me a 65 year old man who cries every time i hear this, wonderful reaction.
Wow 🤩 Benjamin Orr always took my breath away and sad how he died from cancer.
Love how u listen with ur heart Mo. Great reaction. ♥️💯😎
Thank you 🥺💕
Other Cars songs get playtime....this is by far my favorite
So many good memories to this great ballads from the 80´s
This is a sad one about breaking up with someone you love, who’s tearing themselves apart. 💔
The model in that video is Pauline porizkova. She was married to rik ocasek for thirty years . They separated shortly before his death a few years ago. She found his body when he died.
This is a beautiful song. I have loved it since I first heard it back in the mid 80s.
Both Czechs
A great song from a great album!
Hey baby girl. I get misty eyed too I forgot how sad and beautiful this
song is. Rick was one of the best. He will be missed. RIP.
It's quite okay to get misty eyed. Love you and God bless you baby girl!
They first premiered this video during LiveAID, or rather they made a special video for this song just for the concert. It was played just after David Bowie’s set. It’s very moving.
Baby Girl. Your reaction to this beautiful classic is priceless. 🖤🖤🖤
Important song to me in my life. I've interpreted it different ways at different points in my life.
It still makes me think about having that special someone I have in my life.
As always your reactions are pure and beautiful just like you!
Thank you!
Its such an evocative song favourite baby girl, memories of live aid. You nailed it, sad and beautiful. This was beautiful Mo, just like you. Stay safe
Hi, the land of The northen light and The midnight sun, Norway, is calling!
Thank you very much for the reaction on this beautiful song - it´s actually quite deep. Also really want to recommend a very, very popular song from the seventies; «Seasons In The Sun» by Terry Jacks. The melody and the lyrics in this song, have touched many people for decades.
Take care, Per.
I have loved this song all my life
Love these guys!
I love this song. You look stunning as always. Great song.
Hi Mo, great emotional reaction as always from you to a beautiful & sad song. Glad you composed yourself at the end so we could see your gorgeous smile!!. Another song i think you would like is Broken Wings by Mr Mister.
Oh bless... you are such a genuine person. Such a rare treat to the world! (you are still the most beautiful girl on the planet) keep up the good work...
Such a beautiful song 😊
One thing that's especially haunting about this video is that the the woman who played the behavioral health patient in the video later married and divorced the band member she "argued with" in the video. And in 2019, she was the one who found him after he had died.
“The woman” is Paulina Porizkova who went on to become by the worlds most famous supermodels.
@@willblood7082 Yes, I knew that.
I love your emotion. The prettiest girl and so sweet.
Beautiful song... The girl writing on the wall is Paulina Porizkova, famous model and wife of Ric Ocasek, frontman of the band (the slim guy with raven hair in the video - RIP ❤)
Lady, You are one of the few who are at the right place for comments about MUSIC. You show true emotions. Congrats and keep up the good work .
Benjamin Orr was so underrated.
Hi, Mo. Yes, I did enjoy watching this video and your reaction to it as well. It's definitely a beautiful, yet sad, song. You should never say 'sorry' for shedding a tear or two during a song. An honest reaction is what we expect to any song. Thanks for sharing. Stay healthy and safe 👍🏽 ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Edited to add: Mo, it's time to react to Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song' (official video)
We're here for you ❤️
I love your empathy
I know this song since I was a child! It was always so annoying! Thanks so much for showing me, how beautiful it is! I will never switch it again when I hear it ♥️
My favorite song from them. Your looking beautiful as always. I hope you're family is well.
This song makes me so sad. I remember it vividly. One time hearing this with my girlfriend, as we were going out for the night. Nothing special about that moment. Just hanging with my friend. Only vividly remembering the time and the song.
Love this song for ever. ❤❤
Spot-on reaction - that's all that needs to be said
Man the 80’s was a magical time. I was just a kid but yea it was great
You need something uplifting like Spandau Ballet's "Only when you leave" or something like the Players try Ambrosia's "How much I feel" or "Your the only woman" or "biggest Part of me."
Paulina Porizkova was the model who appears in most of the clip, sharing a short scene with Ocasek midway through. (Orr has his own sets of close-ups, while the other members are depicted only in mannequin form.) Actor Timothy Hutton, an Oscar winner for Robert Redford's , was the unlikely candidate to direct the video after complimenting the band to their manager, his neighbor at the time. “I felt something between them instantly,” Hutton said, recalling to that the pair were eager to spend time rehearsing together.
Ric Ocasik was a brilliant songwriter. He's responsible for their entire catalog of songs. Incidentally the lady in the video that he's arguing with, Paulina Porzikova
Was his wife in real life.
Great reaction as always, looking stunningly beautiful as always
😊 thank you
This song makes me feel so guilty when I argue with my girlfriend 😪 because she could be gone at anytime I'm not saying she's dying but when we argue we go back and forth with hurtful words cause after words I feel like shit for hurting her feelings this song makes me think to be a better person because it all goes away for good
This music video was awarded Best Music Video at the MTV Video Music Awards. The girl in this video was Rick Ocasek's girlfriend, Paulina, and he plays the boy who dumped her in this story. Over the next years they married, had children and divorced. But in the last days of Rick's illness, she was by his side and cared for him until the end.
Sure...? Paulina was left with nothing when Ocasek died, he left her out of his will....Quite a loving guy..!!!💩💩💩
@@sergueiserboz4185thanks for share this info, I really did'n know about this. So sad.
i love this song!
Same era, but I will continue to recommend "Why" by Annie Lennox.
The girl is in a psych ward, falling to pieces- mood swings, hallucinating. The anguish in his voice is that she has no insight and he is helpless to stop her deteriorating.
Great reaction, dear .
This is my favorite Cars song. However this is the first time I've seen the video for the song. I'd always thought it was Rick Ocasek who sang it for some reason and not Ben Orr.
Anyway it reminds me of other songs with a similar sad vibe like "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M., and "Nobody's Home" by Avril Lavigne, and "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin, and "It Must Have Been Love" by Roxette, and "These Eyes" by The Guess Who, and "The Winner Takes It All" by ABBA, and "Skyfall" by Adele, and "Crazy Love" by Poco, and "Operator" by Jim Croce, and "El Paso" by Marty Robbins, and "End of the World" by Imelda May. But to end this comment on a positive note, listen to "Gettin' In the Mood" by the Brian Setzer Orchestra. The perfect antidote to all the previous sad songs.🙂👍
