      Paquetes "Amigo" is basically a pre-paid line, it's so convinient, you can get by for as low as $200 mxp for a 33 day use, there are two variants, one that has unlimited text and calls in Mexico-Canada-USA, it offers internet access but not as much as the "Internet Amigo" packages, in these you loose the free-calls but have more data, I use the "Internet Amigo" and still have enought credit left to make a 90 minute call a month, it's enoght for me, because when I buy a $200 "recarga" (buy credit for my line) it gives you another $200 of gift credit, So with $200 I have $200 to buy my package, and another $200 in gift credit, gift credits can be used to make calls but not to buy packages.
      More info on www.telcel.com/personas/telefonia/amigo/paquetes#!paquetes-amigo-sin-limite

      You should go to a Chivas soccer match in "Estadio Akron", its a must do :) I dont even like soccer, but definitely enjoy watching a match in a stadium with some beers :D (depending on the match, sometimes is not that crowded, but its still fun) Also, those "going to a Mexican soccer match" videos are always successful for youtubers :P

    Today another school shooting in USA, TX. Idk, I'm seriously thinking of moving in the next few years to Mexico. Loved the vid, thanks for sharing how easy it is to get a new cell service in Mexico.

    • @TangerineTravels
      @TangerineTravels  6 років тому +2

      Wow that is absolutely terrible. :( We are so saddened to hear that. It was after the Vegas shooting that we felt like the US couldn't possibly be a safer place than Mexico. We used to go to Las Vegas once a month for a weekend getaway and it could have easily been us there during that time.

    • @kingb9985
      @kingb9985 6 років тому

      It's out of control. So to sum it up, in May they stopped 2 school shootings from happening, but, missed the third. So 3 total school shooting attempts with 1 being successful. I don't have kids but I hope soon in the near future and I honestly be too afraid to send them through this public school system.
      Hope ya'll are having a very sweet warm Mexican day :)

      King B U.S. have terrible problems with guns and drugs, other countries can’t understand why people defend “the right” to own guns, they say it is for safety but it is actually worse than countries who don’t encourage owning guns, as a mexican i can say is really really rare to own a gun (and you need a special permit), and even owning one is like the ultimate resource to “defend” ourselves, and we have WAY LESS shootings than U.S. (even counting cartels wars with militaries), on the other hand even when most of drugs are made in latin american countries (not everything is from mexico) i can say most of mexicans (like 70%) don’t do drugs at all, the cartels basically exits because of americans (mostly teenagers) who think drugs are the real shit; U.S. really needs to rethink its policy and system, honestly we don’t know how can that country work, and btw, i’m happy to see some “gringos” don’t believe all that hating and racism policy against us, and discover by theirselves that mexico is not a war zone with just poverty, sombreros and cactus, that is not a “dangerous” place like the U.S. government told you, we have crime like any other country, maybe even less, but is not that extremist image they sell, as a song says “why can’t we be friends?”
      Ps: Mexicans only hate spring breakers lol, but that’s because they are vandals, anyone would be mad if your visits make a mess at your house, but we love good people like Maddie and Jordan

    I've been watching your videos the whole night! I love your vibes!
    This kind of videos are really helpful for me, because I was born in Guadalajara but 6 months ago I moved to US and I'm learning how to live here, I'm trying to familiarize with food, people, places, language, culture, etc. Although my family is here and we are all together, I feel really sad, It's hard moving to another country. I left my friends, school, family, job. But I'm doing my best. And it's nice see people enjoying my city❤️ I feel like we are in a similar situation and If you are discovering Mexico and "adaptándose" and having fun, I can too (but in US). My type of missions have been like getting my ID, my SSN, going to the supermarket, ordering food at restaurants, getting a bank account. I really wanted to share with you how I feel and let you know that your videos made me feel better. Thank you❤️

    Random question: If we use Uber Eats here in GDL, how much should we be tipping, if anything? One of the things that's taking us a long time to learn is the appropriate tipping amount for various services.

      I usually give 20 peso it’s not too little that they may feel disrespected or anything like that but not too much either. 20 peso can usually at least get you a small meal or maybe a couple bus rides in case the delivery guy has been having a bad day, unfortunately a lot of people have the bad habit of not tipping here, although often times it’s because they don’t really have much money to spare

    Chavela Vargas is one of the best mariachi singers, but she was born in Costa Rica, once in an interview the reporter said:
    - ¿Es usted Mexicana?
    - Sí, soy Mexicana.
    - Chavela pero usted nació en Costa Rica.
    - ¡Los mexicanos nacemos donde nos da la rechingada gana!
    - Are you Mexican?
    - Yes, I am Mexican.
    - Chavela but you were born in Costa Rica.
    - We Mexicans were born where we fucking want!
    I think both of you are already Mexicans.

I just feel like they have better prepaid deals, I pay $200 pesos a month and I have unlimited calls and texts here in Mexico, the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and Hawaii, 2GB of data and free Facebook, What'sApp, Messenger and Twitter. Great vid!

    I would also recomend that you install some "data stats" app on your phone, so you really know how many MB you are using.. some of them also have "consumption warnings" so that you don't run out of data in just one day..
    For all the people trying to switch, here are the "usual" options:
    1. A plan, you must sign a contract and the billing is monthly.. you can "limit" your plan so that you don't exceed your phone calls, SMS and/or data.. or else, there could be a lot or surgages billed to you and you could pay a lot more..
    2. Prepaid, you just have to buy the SIM card (aka "chip"), many of them come already with "saldo" (money to spend).. every time you make a phone call/ send a text or use your data, you will be spending your "saldo" until you run out.. if you receive the call/text, your "saldo" should remain the same... also IF you run out of "saldo", you can still receive texts/calls for at least a couple of months, and of course if possible, use the WIFI connections instead of your own data..
    2a. Prepaid package (what they got).. it's almost the same thing, just instead of using their "saldo" a bit every time (with each phonecall or text), they turn it into an X days package.. there are several packages, some are 10 days valid some are 20 days, the pricier are at least 30 days..

      The FM1 is the tourist card you get on the plane or at the border, the immigration and customs agent asks how long you will be visiting Mexico, fills in the amount of days you can stay, stamps it, tears off his half and gives you the other half. You need to return it to them when leaving Mexico.

      Yes, Alejandro - when you click through our Amazon link, whether you buy that product or another product (while staying in the same internet browsing window) we get a percentage of any product you buy. Even if you start a free trial on Amazon and cancel it after the week is up, we get a little bit of money from that since we were the ones who referred you to the site. Does that make sense?

    Nice! I forgot about the "paquetes" in yesterday's question hahaha and yes, you pretty much just buy the SIM card, put it in an unlocked phone (if you are from abroad) and it works.
    I'm not sure if the prices change between cities, I haven't bought a SIM card in ages. But what I have noticed is that in Puebla the SIM cards are $150 at OXXO's which is also a nice quick way to get a working number here. I'll go ask the price for a new SIM directly to Telcel just for the sake of it :P

    • @TangerineTravels
      @TangerineTravels  6 років тому

      Oh dang, they're $150 at OXXO? Seems like we got a good deal with them being 79 at the Telcel store. Good point.. wonder if they charge different prices across Mexico!

      I'll double check that tomorrow but yep I've seen them at $150 there.

    You can get a chip and 30 day plan in the USA at walmart no ID needed. Glad you could port to google they have a limited area that works with. You probably know you can then have the google number ring to your other number then to get the calls and add voice to your phone. It works pretty good but will use data fast if you only do voice, simul ring to the mex number will send it to the phone number. Mexico is 10 digit dial every where soon and you can do it now.

    Keep in mind that when carriers say "unlimited" for social media apps.,that usually means an extra 1GB designated specifically to those apps. It never is actually unlimited as far as I know. I Imagine if you go over the 1GB you start using your normal data.

      It's actually unlimited, at least here in Mexico (there's a catch though, the so call Fair Access Policy, which means after certain amount of data, the service provider slows your download speed until the end of the month)

    • @HASHlRAMA
      @HASHlRAMA 6 років тому

      Ah fair enough, my provider does only provide 1GB and calls it unlimited but it is a different carrier so maybe it doesn't apply to telcel.

      Guys, UNEFON Ilimitado is literally that: an unlimited phone + sms + data prepaid service (phone & sms unlimited to the US too) where the only catches are that the download/upload speed are caped to 5mbps (still great for a smartphone usage), data cannot be shared (hotspot), and once you reach 10GB per day, speed goes down to 3mbps (going back to 5 the next day). I use it with my iPhone X and I’m not embarrassed to admit it.

I am not receiving that code in Ecuador. I contacted Google. The automated help says that I cannot port my number outside U S. Do you know of any other options. I am not receiving any of my text messages which I need for two factor authentication. I have T-Mobil/Metro. It doesn't work at all in Ecuador. I am also using NordVpn connecting via a U.S. server.

    T-Mobil canceled my service too for using it more than 50% of the time out of the country (Mexico) over a 2 month period. I then contacted AT&T. They told me they do not have that policy. So I signed up with them. Then later, I find out that was not true. They DO have the same policy as T-Mobile and all the other US carries about using their service long term out of the US. Also, FYI - I did use the AT&T service in Mexico and they do not have great coverage. Outside of major cities, it sucked. My question to you is, if you call from your cell phone (with Telcel service) from Mexico back to the US, do the people you are calling see your Mexico cell number on their phone? Or can you somehow call through Google Voice so that the receiver sees your US cell phone number? Thanks.

    I just got here to Mexico and just ran into this problem. I usually travel to south east Asia where I just swap sim cards. I heard Telcel was the best so I bought a sim card but it didn't work. After some research and very little help from Boost mobile in the USA, I found out that my phone uses the CDMA network, Telcel is GSM, so it's not compatible. Going to a ATT store today to see if there sim will work since I've read that they use CDMA network.

    I live in Mexico City . And telcel is the way to go . At&t Mexico which I tried was ok only in the big cities . When I traveled by car I would have no service on all the major roads . Now on telcel I have good coverage on all major cities and also when I travel ,telcel is like the Verizon of Mexico has coverage literally everywhere even in the middle of nowhere towns and rural areas . Now I heard lots of people that have cheap phones on telcel saying how they not getting good coverage. Like the gurl at the telcel store told me in order to take advantage of all our newest LTE bands and full coverage u need a newer phone that supports it . So I ended up getting a telcel branded Galaxy s9 plus . And so far never have any problems.
