    Just a few comments
    Love the break down
My 4efte made 365hp on boost only and 454hp with nos with the ARP head bolts and a stock head with racing springs and the speed vision cams.
And yes the cams have issues
Oh have in wisco pistons and no cracks at the pins yet going 4 years.
Love what u r doing keep it up.

Thankyou for the feedback. I am yet to test torque differences between the stock cams and billet ones at the same HP. I think this is the key difference...I have learn that even with high hp you can still have low torque...
The last built engine only picked up 85 hp with the huge cams, springs and an extra 8 psi of boost (28psi total)
But my God does it pull hard in the top end now, it used to drop off in the top end with the stock cams before.
Great hp numbers for you though, I am too scared to put gas on mine. 800hp will be enough i think 😂😂😂

Matt Berry - Dean Tighe took over the business and modernised it. I used to watch camshafts being ground with a master lobe cam profile - copied to a new sticks, old school these days. It was a noisy work environment, and the smell of metal sparks mixed with soluble oil and water, very intoxicating to some of us..

@@MattBerrymotorsport i am aiming for 400 at the wheels hopefully. Using a gen3 garrett turbo so i should be able to make it there. Which part number are the IT cams? I m trying to get hold of their street performance set but they wont reply to me anymore. I m kinda stuck on this and thinking going oem after all. I dont want to shift the power band way up in the rev range and i think 262 degrees should also be fine to run in the engine on stock ecu before installing the link g4 and going to the dyno

@@harkonk ill get the part number today, mine are 272... keep in mind these are small engines, you won't make 400 in the mid range, it will most likely be above 6000rpm. Size your turbo to your camshafts, no point in going a large turbo with stock cams, the engine won't be able to breathe. The cams don't move the hp, they move the torque in the rpm range depending what you put in there.

I had Ross pistons and had the same thing happened. Ie cracks in the piston skirts. Not sure if your was the same, but from memory, piston one was the worst and they improved to piston 4 (or maybe the other way around). An engine shop had a look and said it maybe the abrupt change in thickness of material around the the gundgeon pin that caused the cracks. The Wossner pistons I replaced the Ross pistons with had a better change in thickness. As for clutches, I would recommend Direct Clutch in Queensland? Have had 2 starlet clutches from them and had no slip problems. Their newer clutch is also quite streetable and easy on the leg. Do you have dyno graphs of the different turbos? I have a TF035, looking to upgrade to maybe a GT2554 or 2560 or TD04. Love these clips. They are encouraging me to get back out into the shed.

    I have one question actually.
I have a 4efte engine and want to get it forged, but am confused with the piston compression ratio.
I wanted to know if ever I can put a piston with CR 8.5, alongside with a cosmetic headgasket of 0.8 mm. Moreso I will also want to skimmed the head and the block.
    Will it be good?
Will I be able to run at a higher boost ?
What are the disadvantages and advantages

    • @MattBerrymotorsport

The most important thing you need to worry about is what fuel you are using. If you are using a low octane fuel, low compression is safer but you still wont be able to run much boost. Boost also depends what size turbo you wat to run too. Keep those air temps low!! If youre planning to run a td04 or a ct9, i wouldnt waste your time forging the engine, you will blow it up on high boost. Speaking from experience lol

Hey dude first of all, ct9 are a great entry level turbo if you're planning to just have some fun. They don't make a lot of torque in the top end. Tdo4 L are the BEST all round/ street / circuit racing turbo ive used. Quick spool and decent top end. 15psi and unleaded fuel makes it easy to maintain and reliable. This is also using the stock 4efe na engine, no need for forging!
Best option in my opinion, especially for circuit, you will be able to drive the car as hard as you can and your only let downs will be the stock suspension and tyres if you don't upgrade.
You could step up to a tdo5 because you have a 5efe... but expect a little more lag out of corners but you will easily reach 250+hp if you switch to e85! No traction in the first two gears and third is a little unstable. So its hard to use all that power anyway.
The biggest turbo ive used is a gtx2867 gen 2. On 21 psi it produced 301 hp on a bone stock 5efe (el44 engjne) and after forging it produced just under 400 on 28psi

C52 are from gt starlets. They are rare, expensive and the lsd versions aren't worth what people are trying to sell them for. Every gt box ive ever had was noisy and bad syncros....
The solution...C52 also came out in older corollas, i get my boxes from anything that had a 7afe or a 4afe/4age

Stock springs but I do have the Speedvision upgraded ones. They were binding so I didn't use them.

    No turbo yet, was thinking

    • @MattBerrymotorsport
      @MattBerrymotorsport  4 роки тому +1

Hey dude sorry If I made the speed vision cams sound like junk, but I'm sure not all of them are bad. You can get the cams checked to make sure the lobes are the same, also check what the valve overlap is, you want as minimal as possible for a turbo car. Other than those things they will be fine.
The 2867 is a great turbo i reckon we will end up around 420 hp at 32psi. Depending if its a street car or not, there isn't much use having more than 300 hp in a street car as it will just spin and bounce off the limiter. Great fun for a while but if you can't use all that power whats the point...
If its not a street car however you should go to maybe a gtx3071. Rick made 440 wheel hp on a gen 1 one of those on 35 psi. Ran 10.6 at 142 ish.on slicks of course.
If its purely going to be a street car maybe look at the 2860? Spools a little earlier and still good for 300+
Depends how far you want to go with it man
