Kingfish on a live yakka 2023

Lost a good kingfish when the hook pulled, would have easily been over 70cm.
Managed to land a kingfish that was already tagged which was released.
Caught a few tailor and jewfish on slowjigs.
Thought I would include the details from the original release.
It would appear that it’s shrinking 75cm to 71cm to 70cm!
I suspect the original capture on the 24/06/2023 wasn’t measured correctly or maybe the tagging card got mixed up with another kingfish. The shrinking from 71 to 70cm is just a measurement variation that happens when we use different measuring tools.

Hi mate, just got a sounder for my yak, curious as to what a school kingfish look like on the sounder? Anything specific that give it away? cheers

Depending on the sounder and how fast you are travelling you should see distinct arches. They are inquisitive by nature so if you have lure or bait roughly in the zone it's their duty to inspect it. If you're running side scan that will also help you to locate a school, but you need to react quickly as they sometime just don't hang around. I'll post something on my Instagram account when I can find the photo.
