Filleting Eastern Wirrah Cod
Filleting an Eastern Wirrah Cod. Aka old boots aka mother in law fish.
A fish generally not welcomed by most fisherman but loved by a minority.
Fish is very slimy and slippery which makes it difficult to handle and fillet.
Wirrah have a firm flesh and thick skin, I suppose it possible to scale but I think it's much easier to skin instead.

Filleting Garfish a Better Way?

Trying different ways to fillet garfish. This in my opinion is a better way as you don't have to clean the guts out and the rib cage bones are removed in the process. As for the pin bones if deep frying I would leave them in, if shallow pan frying I would cut them out. #garfish #ballyhoo #torqeedofishing #torqeedoaustralia #sydneykingfish #yellowtailkingfish #kingfish #jewfish #mulloway #isofis...

Filleting spotted bigeye that was caught in Sydney Harbour. Great eating flesh that doesn't have a fishy smell, with a clean and subtle taste. Doesn't get dry when steamed, pan fried or panko crumbed. A versatile fish that's great on the plate, just don't try to scale this fish 😂

      It's ok can't really fault it's my first electric reel so I don't have anything else to reference. I think it could fit 600m or PE3 but you would have to pack it on really tight.

    How much line were you able to pack into your LeoBritz electric reel? PE 2.5 is very light for deep dropping?

    • @bradleyseeto
      @bradleyseeto 19 днів тому

      About 600m from memory on the LeoBritz. If you're deep dropping with 2kg weights I wouldn't use pe 2.5. For jigging pe2.5 is more than acceptable, I have also used pe 1.7 on the Ocea Jigger 2000 without issues paired with 600-700g jigs. The advantage of running such light line is the minimal resistance compared to thicker line and its able to maintain a more vertical position which prides better contact feel

      I have a lithium battery which comes with the motor, It's a Torqeedo Ultralight 403 electric motor which is equivalent to 1Hp. It doesn't state what pound thrust but the battery will last all day on water depending on how hard you push the motor. At half throttle I'm already at 75% top speed, so going full throttle will only get you a fraction more speed which isn't worth it.

    • @bradleyseeto
      @bradleyseeto Місяць тому

      I also have the boondox and loved it until the weight got too much and started to bulge underload. So I have retired it and now using the railblaza c-tug R. You probably don't want to hear this but I personally wouldn't use it, not unless you are really careful with how much weight is placed on it. I even created a larger custom backing plate to fit into the kayak to spread the load but even then it just couldn't handle it. So it was safer just to convert over to the c-tug r and not have any worries. Hobie really need to start innovating as the scupper carts were great at the time, now everyone carries a lot more gear and you'll see more scupper cracks in the forums. The horizontal bar on the ctug R does a great job in distributing the load. I have a torqeedo 403 electric motor which came with a large battery that will last all day if you don't go full throttle constantly. Expensive unit but I can't see myself fishing without it.

    • @bradleyseeto
      @bradleyseeto 3 місяці тому

      Thanks but I wouldn't call myself good, just lucky sometimes. Firstly you need to find the fish on the sounder and they try various lures. For vertical jigging I'm just using a 150g lure and just pause every so often. They can be found sometimes hanging in shallow waters 12-15m so you don't need to jig that fast. If they don't take the vertical, I'll switch to slow jigs. When they are picky they'll only take live squid or cuttlefish.

    After several months of rewiring my Lowrance Hook2 Triple shot several times (electrics are not my forte) I gave up & took it into Whitworths in Lambton & found the unit had gone to heaven. I now have a working basic Lowrance FS 7" that I wired in myself & it & the transducer are working perfectly. I also made a DIY Transducer arm for the transducer because the hull cavity would not accept the larger transducer. Cost less than $40.00. I gave up on the Railblaza transducer arm ($61.00) which was far more trouble than it's worth. Corrosion was a chronic problem with my old ff but the new one has much better connections & caps. Yet to try it out. If you do not have corrosion issues check your power supply all the way through. If you don't find any problems, you can try having it tested. Hope your problem is not a major one. Thanks for sharing.

      A few drops of water had made its way through the back of the HDS connector and corroded through some electronics. Sent it lowrance and they quoted me $903 for a new unit.
