    The snow cat was definitely the right tool for the job, that would have been a difficult job with the wrecker, just too soft. I like his idea for the hydraulic field chocks!! We had field chocks (sometimes called field spades) on our wreckers in the Army. They are great for pulling when on slick mud to keep you from pulling your wrecker instead of pulling the stuck vehicle. His hydraulic ones are the cat's ass, beats having to drag them out and set them up every time like the Army ones. Great video!!!

      I know of several "mud" trucks locally that could have made that same recovery without doing anymore damage than the tracked vehicle did.
      Look, the BSF recovery wrecker is quite capable, bit it has it's limits, and would have been unsuitable for this recovery.
      But there are other types of vehicles that are not designed to lift and carry, but are quite capable of towing!

    • @anthonyraines5951
      @anthonyraines5951 Рік тому +4

      @m riggs i think we will have to agree to disagree on that. Not saying it couldn't be recovered with a wheeled vehicle but there were many places in that video that the tracks stayed right on top of the ground and the vehicle being towed behind it just sank in.

    • @mahbriggs
      @mahbriggs Рік тому +1

      @anthonyraines5951
      Well it was the vehicle being rescued.
      It did not have the large tires associated with mud trucks.
      In fact, it was pretty much a stock vehicle. Did it even have lockers?
      My point is that it was not a very capable mud vehicle. There are many that could have handled that level of mud quite well.
      Even my Jeep XJ probably could have drug that Toyota out of there, and it far from a purpose built mud vehicle.
      My point is it that it did not take a tracked vehicle like to recover that Toyota. Kudos to the guy that did! It looks like a pretty good machine, I am certainly not criticizing him! Just the idiots that prevented somebody else from going in earlier to get the guy out!

    Looks like a custom 4 core radiator would be a good next step for his Bomby. Keep the same overall dimensions but added cooling and not have to modify the machine.
    I’m sure there’s still a few companies out there that build custom radiators.

    I think Matt and robbie will be pausing this video to study that cat. Ps what was that thing you spotted at the antique store ,my guess it's to clear brush from a trail?

    I find it interesting that the sno-cat (or mud-cat) has no wipers on the front windows, but does have a wiper on the back window! Can't see where you are going, but you can see where you've been.
    And, yeah, a track vehicle was the way to go thru that awful mud.

    A shroud and electric fan will make DANG certain there isn't any overheat. You could even plumb in a remote cooling system so as to not mess with the dash and give it a shroud and electric fan.

    I hope when you get the new white jeep runing you get a set of snow tracks for it like Casey ladeles red cherokee. You could put them to use easy in your neck of the woods.👍👍✌
