Been skating for 49 years, quads & blades. Sending good vibes/blessings for great instincts & caution✨ Just found you this evening - LOVE watching you guys. FUN!
This really an interesting case of showcasing each discipline pros and cons. Skates are as maneuverable as you can get so they're easier to weave with and make split second reactions, transalting to being able to go faster in heavy traffic. while once the cyclist got a clear line she started leaving him behind her.
Love this video, I’m from the uk. My lady and I do this every weekend lol she’s on her bike with me on my skates! I’m always hanging off her seat in tight traffic letting her pull me lol we get the same looks you guys got haha more like this please 😂
I like the camera angles and shots were used. I was literally engaged throughout the video and watched it full. I recently started going to school on my rollerblades!
Ari, your videos like this one are absolutely incredible! I have always loved rollerblading but have been out of it for a while and recently started looking up videos on it. I think that combined with my love of NYC content were the UA-cam algo ingredients needed to bring me to your channel. Very glad I'm here now! Keep up the good work!
Your sick with it ! Amazing skating ! Love your city videos being in Long Island my goal is to skate the city like you this summer. I just got back into rollerblading and your videos are very motivating. Your confidence while skating in such harsh conditions is amazing. I hope to have similar confidence on my blades one day 🙏🏼
Having good traffic knowledge and instincts is definitely probably the #1 thing you need going through that traffic and at those speeds. It's kind of like driving a race car, things are coming so fast, you have to make split second decisions on what to do. Hey, what is Jen's link now, the link in the description didn't work :(
The way this dude just glides throug the streets of new york is amazing. I for my part started skating about 2 years ago and i fell in love with it. I checked the Skates hes been useing in this Video and was shoked by the price like holy, i didnt know those could get so expansive. Buuuuut i think i will save up some Cash so i can get them
i love the movement ofvehickes on the street. seems chaotic and raw, but at the same time flows so smoothly. here in poland it wouldnt be possible to ride like this!
I've always wanted a more practical comparison between urban/street cycling vs. inline skating, and this video is perfect for that, but now that I'm interested in skateboarding/longboarding it would be more interesting to see the difference in style. I guess it would come down to the following: *Cycling* Ups🔺️: -The most efficient commuter; generally less sweat by the end of the commute/cruise. -All terrain; rides on many surfaces. -All weather (maybe not good in winter/rain, but beats the alternative). -Extra things to carry (cargo space). -Fastest on flat ground. -Common; seen everyday, ordinary, no raised eyebrows, no unnecessary attention (don't wear lycra). Downs 🔻: -Heavy; sluggish to move around, less agile, difficult to carry and store. -Steal prone; lock it outside? All it takes is a lock breaking tool and a few minutes of commitment for it to be snatched. -Expensive, unless going for the lower budget consumer market, which will make you hate cycling. -Busy hands; both hands must be on the steering handle for optimal control. -Never truly a comfortable riding position (didn't work out for me), unless going for the recumbent type, but that's another big topic. -Maintenance; needs a degree in Mechanics Maintenance Engineering Technology + is expensive. *Inline Skating* Ups🔺️: -Nimble and light; easier to move around obstacles, easier to carry and store. -Benefits of being a pedestrian; using cycle lanes or the sidewalk (this is also varied based on place of living.. unsure). -Hand free; you can even do it while your hands inside your pocket (do not recommend it). -More stylish; a lot of tricks to be learned. -More fun to cruise. Downs🔻: -Aerobic exercise(🔺), inefficient commuter (🔻); requires more energy (tiring). You'll be sweating profusely (unless it's winter... you won't be skating). -Limited roads; you can't ride on very rough surfaces (like gravel). -Limited Weather; rain bad. -Smelly feet; the stench is strong. -Backpack; limited carry. -Skill issue; high barrier of entry, takes a long while to be comfortable enough to go urban/city skating. -Many minutes to put on/take off the skates. Gets redundant. -Stigma; gets you the looks 👀. *Skateboarding/Longboarding* Ups🔺️: -Agility and nimbleness, ⛸ > 🛹 > 🚲 -More stylish than both (subjective), more tricks to learn (objective). -Easiest to maintain (?) -Light, easy to store. -Cheapest to get into. -Medium barrier of entry. -Looks fun to cruise. -Cool and fun artwork designs. -Hands free cruise control, feet only. -Less energy taxing than inline skating (probably). -Sharing the fun; spread the joy with curios persons/kids... Can't do that on inclines (fitment issues, bad odor) and bicycles (boring). Downs🔻: -Slowest on flat ground (probably), unless going electric ⚡. -Speed wobbles on down-hills (if you're not prepared). -Ruined shoes; because of tricking/foot braking. -Limited roads. -Limited weather. -Limited carry. -Stigma (especially if you're older). I've tried cycling and inline skating... now I'm very interested in skateboarding. I may drop the other 2 for it if it works out.
Thank you for sharing your extensive breakdown. In-line skating will always take the cake for me just because of how maneuverable it is. I also really enjoy the direct energy transfer with the ground I suppose.
-boarding: - Even more limited roads than skates - The cool and Fun artwork designs is totally subjective as well, and can also apply to the bikes and Skates. - You can easily move back to walking (extreme uphill) Also, how smelly are your feet?, haha. You seem to put a lot of emphasis on that.
@Rafaelinux Ha ha, inline skating is a lot of fun, but the smelly feet are such an issue for me (not that major, but still irksom), along with the ankle pronation problem I have still not figured out.. puts me off skating. Now I have a longboard and man, it is also so much fun, it has its challenges, and I do miss the agility of inlines, but I *feel* more motivated to progress on the longboard/crusier board than on inlines.
I like how he is putting HER to work in this lmao. I used to cycle a lot but got hit my cars too many times, mostly people not watching crosswalks when the crosswalk light is letting pedestrians cross.
If I did commute on skates since I was a ,I’d would maybe keep up with you but will take my time as older now but you are awesome to watch I’m thinking can you stop in time if a sidewalker wanders in front you or just dodge sideswipe eh
Waiting for summers here in Canada, Then ima start going to my school on my rollerblades Edit- I went to school on my rollerblades for the first time! Damn that shits fun, everyone was looking at me crazily. Sick.
Hey man I ride onewheels and love your videos. I wanted to record my rides like you and was curious what equipment do you use to record? Love your content
This video makes me want to go out for a bike ride and also try out roller blades. Well, almost every video of yours makes me want to buy a pair of rollerblades 😅
oh man, so glad ive found your channel! to see videos like this in the feed, it makes you want to lace up your skates!!! wonderful vibes. that cyclist lady has beatiful legs btw, haha
Nice!!! I don't understand when drivers get upset you're just passing them, but I do understand when you touch their vehicle. Dust can break the clear coat if rubbed.
My job is 4 minutes away and I kind of would like to skate there but I don’t know how to skate. So I think I’ll gets some quads and practice in my neighborhood.
I was good at quads like 10 years ago as a kid, and now i need to go around campus, should I get roller blades? will I adapt quickly? I know I can but its scary
The lady does seem skilled but I'd be very interested to see how a point to point race with you vs one of those dudes you see ridding fixies through traffic and just flying would fair, differing fitness levels aside I think the lady see seems like a more traditional cyclists who maybe is willing to be a bit risky where those people just have a totally different type of cycling, would be a cool video I think
It always struck me as odd to not wear a helmet when going 20mph or higher. You wouldn't run with your hands behind your back straight into a wall at 25mph, why ride at those speeds with no helmet? All in all great video though.
1. Aren't Jen's bars too wide? If you compare where her hands are compared to her shoulders. 2. About clipping in - Crank brothers Candy pedals allow you to clip in from both sides and four positions. And mountain bike walkable cycling shoes allow you to have a flat platform to walk on when unclipped. No need to ride in SPDs or whatever she's got in traffic.
they only look wide on her front camera wide angle view, which distorts the perspective. And many SPD shoes do have walkable soles, like the ones I use for commuting. She looks to be using something like Shimano A530 dual-sided SPD/platform pedals, or something similar. Also what I use on my commuter road bike.

This brings me back to the mid-90's when me and my friends would do this around NYC before smart phones and even thinking of recording it. Love it!! 👍
Love this video, I’m from the uk. My lady and I do this every weekend lol she’s on her bike with me on my skates! I’m always hanging off her seat in tight traffic letting her pull me lol we get the same looks you guys got haha more like this please 😂
STOP CAPPIN WE NEED PROOF, MAKE VIDEO OR SHORTS!!
Holy shit, I didn't know humans could fly like that!!! Flow and videography is so inspiring!
I like the camera angles and shots were used. I was literally engaged throughout the video and watched it full. I recently started going to school on my rollerblades!
You two are 💪 MIGHTY 💪, the video is spectacular. You both brought smoke and flames with this one.
Stay blessed 🇯🇲🔥💯

Fun and funny vid. Love how the position and lens distortion scream “look at my butt,” especially in the backward skating sections.
this is the dopest content i have stumbled across since sliced bread

@The Stuttering Skater
Yeah, it is quite mesmerizing how professional skaters like yourself make it look so smooth.
-boarding:
- Even more limited roads than skates

Get rollerskates. 🛼
: p
Anticipating the flow...
It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel indifference, or regret, or fear.
And it absolutely will not stop... ever.
This is the dream man!😮
The shots, the transitions in sync with the BGM and yes the skills are just breathtaking.
The whole video is Dope to the T!
Awesome channel me and my son watch it! He’s trying to get into skating now after watching you! 🤙🏽 keep up the videos!
The biggest advantage of inline skating - you can skate while drinking, eating :D :P
it's 12am, couldn't sleep, halfway through this decided i'm going for a ride 😅
Jen makes cycling extremely fly 👌🔥🔥
so so good.. cant stop watching
could you maybe make a list once of all the rollerblades you skate?
Watching you guys go toward Grand Central reminds me of the rollerblading scenes from the movie Hackers.
You can do so much more on blades than when you’re riding a bicycle. Blading ftw!
DOPE video, please keep these rides coming !
I like how he is putting HER to work in this lmao. I used to cycle a lot but got hit my cars too many times, mostly people not watching crosswalks when the crosswalk light is letting pedestrians cross.
Strangely addictive to watch

Nice trip and also love the editing!
I like that skating style with your back turned on.lot more fun.
i can watch this 24/7 my man
Waiting for summers here in Canada, Then ima start going to my school on my rollerblades
Edit- I went to school on my rollerblades for the first time! Damn that shits fun, everyone was looking at me crazily. Sick.
Wow that was riveting.
Perfecto saludos desde Argentina buena vida!!!!

Amazing. So funny. Excellent skating and wonderful to watch

😂😂😂
oh man, so glad ive found your channel! to see videos like this in the feed, it makes you want to lace up your skates!!! wonderful vibes. that cyclist lady has beatiful legs btw, haha
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The difference is that from constant cycling there will be a protrusion of the spine, but not from roller skates
More cat like reflexes on blades
Ikr , i was shocked about his push , then i red in comments that he played hokey
you make me nervous and Im only watching, great skater
Ciao sei fortissimo, posso chiederti quali pattini usi e di quanti mm sono le ruote?
You made the skating look easy. super cool travels. I love it!
Wow this guy is pro
Nice!!! I don't understand when drivers get upset you're just passing them, but I do understand when you touch their vehicle. Dust can break the clear coat if rubbed.
My wife has electric scooter we go down by river near Chester uk.we also have sports push scooters too we use.
are there like no traffic laws in New York?
Next time add an euc(electric unicycle) to the mix 😊
My job is 4 minutes away and I kind of would like to skate there but I don’t know how to skate. So I think I’ll gets some quads and practice in my neighborhood.
When will u skate with bill Stoppard?!?!!?
They are in different countries (Canada and US)
I was good at quads like 10 years ago as a kid, and now i need to go around campus, should I get roller blades? will I adapt quickly? I know I can but its scary

It always struck me as odd to not wear a helmet when going 20mph or higher. You wouldn't run with your hands behind your back straight into a wall at 25mph, why ride at those speeds with no helmet? All in all great video though.
Very impressive but I can see why cars and pedestrians hate cyclists, skaters and skateboarders
