This is nothing like I remember the house. I have watched a very old film of the sourcing of old houses, his sketching of their plans, his wife’s relationship with her grumpy father, Jim narrating his story and the removal, transport and rebuilding of the house. Sadly I have searched but cannot find the original presentation by him. If you as younger bloke and with your internet savvy could find this I think you would thoroughly enjoy it. It was from UA-cam and I think I saw it around 2008. I actually watched it several times over a 3 or 4 years. I can still hear his voice in my head, a very calm gentleman
I would love to see that. I’ve been searching but I haven’t had any luck. The video might have been taken down for some reason. I really would enjoy seeing how they moved the houses to this site.

Regarding Jim Thompson's wife (a model by the name of Pat Thraves), according to Wikipedia, they divorced in the mid-1940s. He assembled his Bangkok house-compound in the late 1950s......The "wife" figure in that film by/of Thompson must have been one of his mistresses, so I'm wondering which one.....

What a beautiful looking place.
It is very nice. Being in the middle of the city yet you wouldn’t even know it. They do a great job maintaining the garden and house.
