@@cw2a I got an 8lb jug ( a while back....) and struggled like crazy getting anything to work with this powder.... from 120's to 153 bergers in semi and bolt. 50 fps or more velocity spreads on hand measured charges. I decided to give it excessive crimp, like denting the bullet and then backing off just a touch.... voila. Starting to play nice now. Wish I knew that 5lbs and hundreds of primers ago. Try a firmer crimp if your SD/ES is kinda wacky and you know you are doing things right.
I own an AR 10 upper I did in the 6.5-284 Norma so interesting to see powder charge and compare the powder charge I use in the 6.5-284 Norma using the same Barns 140 grain bullet, so I use 55 grains of MagPro with the 140 grain bullets.
Very enjoyable to watch, even for calibers I don't have. One thing that seems to be a trend is that the best groups are either at one step below max or at max. It would be tempting to skip the first two lower test steps as an experiment.
A lot of times I just shoot the lower loads in an effort to have some loads that start low to hopefully problems from overpressure loads. It gives just a little buffer to not destroy brass or the gun. Still usually start fairly high and that has been a problem before.
I'm not surprised that it performs better as It sped up. It's a very long bullet so you either need more speed or a faster Barrel twist in order to stabilize it properly. Makes you wonder how well these would perform if you had a 7.5 twist Barrel. That's what I'm wanting to put on my 6.5 Creedmoor hunting rifle. I really want to try that out with these 145 grain bullets and you already used the powder that I am a big fan of. Staball is probably my favorite High Velocity powder to work with right now. And I seem to get better SD values compared to see performance
Been wanting to try the StaBall, but I’ve had such great results with the IMR4350, I always just stick with that. If I can find some locally, so I don’t have to pay haz mat for 1 lb of powder I’ll definitely pick some up.
Varget is what I get the best groups with the Match Burners. H4350 a close second. The140’s shot damn well shooting steel at a 1000.
Glad I found your channel just getting started with reloading lots of great info
Thanks, plan is to keep expanding the channel with cartridges.
Last 2 groups looked really good. Thank you.
Looks like the results I got shooting those Barnes 145gr bullets and using StaBall.
I wanna try that sta ball. I was able to grab a couple pounds short time back.
I've used it since it hit the shelves and in several different calibers. It's always performed well with no issues so far.
@@ronmiller9265 Awesome to hear!! Ill try in my new 6mm Remington build and that old 6.5x65 Mauser.

Superformance
Yes staball seems to be one of the better ball powders.
Not bad at all .
I really like the 140sst bullet. It shoots real well and dosent cost what many match bullets do. Im shooting a 6.5x65 at about 3k
I’ve had luck loading those match master long they seem to not like the jump give it a shot.
Been wanting to try those match burners in my long range 260

Thanks for the video what is the barrel length on your savage?
