Doxies are one bizarre breed. Cute, playful, and weird, they always get the attention they want. However, how smart are dachshunds compared to other breeds? This is a question most future dog owners ask as it determined how easy the dog is to train, how well you’ll be able to communicate with it, and much more.
They are perfect
And they give us laugh & love every day ❤️ The best friend a human can have.
Dachshunds are the best dogs in the world. They are so cute, smart, cuddly, brave, playful, fun, with great character. They are personalities ❤😍💖
Dachshunds are just too smart to listen to us 🤣😂🤣
You’ll never have a better friend.

every time i tried to teach my doxie a new suggestion, "because trying a command was out of the question," he just sits there looking around wondering who I'm talking too,
My niece has just got a rescue Dachshund. We’re learning so much about the breed. Great video.
Yes, they are very intelligent! Also, they are very quick learners. It's true that my Dachshund is stubborn and defiant and thinks he knows better so he often chooses to ignore my command. However, most of the time I can negotiate with him or sometimes just ask politely! This breed is amazing!
Just say cookie , he will come.
Stubborn as far as training. Extremely intelligent.
That's why their clever
Buddy is his own person. He does as he chooses. I do, however, have a very easy time convincing him that he wants to do what I want him to do. He doesn't like disappointing me. He was dumped and found me. About a year old, absolutely charming. I kinda let him call the shots in the beginning. He was so nicely mannered that I never had to scold him for anything. Just showed him what I needed from him and he got it. I'm flat on my back on a heating pad and he's beside me, his butt against my left hip. Eight years in June. He is more aware of my moods than I am. If I'm upset he sticks his nose in my face so that I have to focus on him. Also a proven master at picking out sketchy people. My first hound after big dogs. He's definately not the same as they all were. I've gotten to see him at work chasing moles--he was magnificent! I adore my funny, fierce, cuddly Buddy!
My baby knew what I was asking him to do.... he just never did it out of stubbornness lol I would say don't, don't do this and he would look at me and seemingly say.... how dare you saying "Don't" to me and he would do it quicker!!!! I miss him terribly.... Dachshunds are the best dogs, loyal, intelligent, stubborn and even manipulative. They seem to be able to communicate with you at a deeper level with an uncanny emotional intelligence.
I'm out-smarted by my dox every single day :) She runs the house
My Marty is very smart but goes his own way. He wants to make me happy and does what I want most of the time.
I Love my Panzer Dachshund. And he loves me. This is enough for US.
A Panzer Dachshund? What do you feed him? Infantry?
@@aleisterlavey9716 Of course Yes ! 😜
By far the best breed
They are too smart. I compare them to a 3 years old toddler and they know how to count. If I give one of my dixies two treats and one to the other, she will look at me, touch me with her nose, anything to let me know she is missing one. Remember that dogs have owners, but dixies have staff. They are royalty!😂
My girl Zoi one day sat on the bed staring intently out the window while i was eating a sandwich. It finally got my curiosity and i put the sandwich down on the stand next to me and went and looked to find nothing. When i turned around she had my sandwich. I couldn't be mad she earned it. Though i think she is an exception to her breed, to lure me away from my food, by knowing my habits and getting what she wanted.
She has been known to trap rats and ....
😅🥰
My miniature dachshund is the smartest dog I know🐾
@@lisahanlin5313 if like mine, to smart for her on good. Got to love em
I tried to teach my Doxie to "Shake" after weeks of trying daily we finally got a result. I developed RSI in my arm .
I have a whole family of mini dachshunds. They are very opinionated. There is Kabous, whose default setting is “grumpy”. He will quickly let you know if something is not to his liking. And Sarie is very independent. She follows her own agenda on the daily walks. And she quickly figured out how to “network” with the Rottweiler.
I live with 4 dachshunds. None of them resemble the others in personality or intelligence.
I love my doggie and hes a dachsund

Do you mean Stanley Coren, by any chance? Professor Coren has done a lot of research into the intelligence of dogs.
The IQ test should be remembering mazes or solve other problems to access food. The desire to follow orders has nothing to do with intelligence, but simply what the dog was bred to do. Hearding Sheep, verbal orders, not a Dachshund - though they can be taught and have been used for hearding swine. Hunting down prey fearlessly, not a Shepard whom have little hunting insticts, whom often see other animals as freinds, they are good for bird hunting where they bring back the birds. The Doxie will head out after prey as soon as you release them like all hounds and corner them. LOL. So what of stubborness, is it a sign of intelligence, well it is not in humans. My sister is stubborn as hell, smartest in the family and I admit it. She would too. Cheers!
Mine took on a blue tongue lizard in my yard and won
A dog is not an "it"
