David is just amazing. He actually has four kids, all grown now. His oldest daughter Callie performs with him and tours with him. His second daughter Maggie Beth also performs with him but doesn’t always join him on tour. His oldest son Grant plays guitar and occasionally performs with his Dad. Grant accompanied his Dad with guitar on a song last year at the Labor Day Barn Bash held annually at their farm in Tennessee. Coby, his youngest son sang with his brother and sisters when he was young but I’ve never seen him perform live with his Dad.
The musical arrangement here is amazing. The cello and piano are on point. David went to Baylor for vocal performance. Huge name in gospel music. His children all sing wonderfully Listen to David and his daughters sing dust in the wind What’s great is he does this in the same key Whitney did with the same modulations. One of the most talented vocalists you’ll ever find for sure. Just a beautifully pleasing boi e
Loved your reaction, but i had to chuckle as perhaps someone else might have pointed out, that this is the second time you have reacted to David Phelps. The first one was in response to his fantastic performance of "O Holy Night" in Birmingham in a performance hall, where the choral swell behind him supported him at the end to a very emotional response to most who watch it or witnessed it happening at the time. However, it was performed decades earlier and David looks very different, and it would be easy to think he is not the same person, especially if one might not be familiar with his works. You were similarly blown sway! Great reaction!
Great reaction! David is so GOOD. One of the best all time for sure. You should react to No More Night (one of his staple songs for decades), The Dream, or Let Freedom Ring (with the Gaither Vocal Band).
Thanks for your David reaction!!! I think he is perfection. He classifies himself as vocal stylist. And though mainly southern gospel, he's classically trained. Also song writer and composer. Bring Him Home from his classics DVD Great! Bridge Over Troubled Water. Beautiful and uplifting! Have a blessed day
David was trained in classical/opera singing in college but quickly transitioned to gospel. He got his first break through with the well known southern gospel quartet "The Gaither vocal Band' back in 1997. He is not only an excellent singer, but also composer and arranger. He sings and writes almost all styles of music. Honestly he is not that well known outside of southern gospel community, so it's not surprising you hadn't heard of him. We fans wish he was better known so more people could enjoy his music, but he just doesn't sound like anyone else as he combines classical and contemporary in a unique way. If you don't mind pop that has a classical sound or classical with a pop sound, you'll enjoy David. Also since he sings many styles or even combines genres he is difficult to categorize or put in a box. Independent artist often don't get the recognition they deserve unfortunately. Thanks for your reaction, it helps more people hear him for the first time. If you want to hear his lovely daughters sing, "Dust in the Wind" would be a good listen. David is a master of vocal harmonies. Absolutely beautiful! But then, that describes 90% of David's music.
David has been singing all of his life, he sings many genres, he writes and arranges a huge amount of songs he sings. Try these… Come to Jesus (bluegrass w/ Gaither vocal band) Ava Maria/ Lord’s Prayer medley Dead man rising - very recent Nessun Dorma - Gaither reunion version Mary did you know - solo acoustic version I just saw Jesus - duet with Lana ranikin
He my favorite male singer of all time. You must listen to "Oh, Holy Night"!!!! It's the one where he is wearing a army green sweater! It's at least 10 to 15 years old, but my goodness, it ia sooooo good!
To Christian and Gospel singers, clear enunciation is at the top of the priority list. It's all about ministering the gospel in the music. David has two daughters and two sons.
I absolutely love watching someone listen to David for the first time!!! He is so amazing, and only when you hear him using the gift the LORD has given him can you even grasp how incredible that gift is!! Thank you, Samantha.
Thanks Samantha! Anything by David Phelps is simply vocal perfection! Suggest his (audio only) w. Voctave as I know you've discovered them too. Also, from his recent album, Dead Man Rising - watch to the end! Chills guaranteed.
First time seeing your channel and thrilled that you featured David Phelps, my all-time favorite male vocalist. He is phenomenal, can sing any genre of music with perfection. He definitely knows his craft and has been greatly blessed with this beautiful tenor voice. Hope to see more of David on your channel😊
Love David Phelps. There are so many song choices to pick from. Try the live version of Virtuoso. It's incredible. Also try Let Freedom Ring and End of the Beginning. They are from a concert at Carnagie Hall rhat the Gaither Vocal Band gave in honor of the first resoonders after 9/11.
I have seen David 11 times live mostly from the front row, I have met him and his family many times now and have been to his home twice for concerts...he is the best male vocalist on the planet and has been for the past 25 years...and it is not even close.
Oh yes!! One of the best. He hits an E5 in full chest voice in it. Its found under Bill Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band at Carnegie Hall "Let Freedom Ring. " It was a concert honoring the first responders a few months after 911. Very emotional and just outstanding.
@@elainegregoire-mitchell5393 I'm new to David's music and can appreciate his talent. I will be listening to more of his Praise songs. He does have a beautiful voice. The reason I state Gabriel Henrique is better is because his story is quite similar to David's with some differences. Gabriel is self taught. He has a G#6 octave voice range. His voice is a gift from God. He acknowledges this as he is a devout Christian. Like David, he is a Gospel singer from Brazil. He grew up in the church. His dad is the pastor and musical director of the church. His parents shared in an interview that Gabriel sang before he talked. He is finally getting the recognition he deserves. He was invited to audition on AGT last year. You can check him out there a well. Seems to me that they need to do a duet. 😇Gabriel is featured on a Natalie Grant song A Luz Te Contrara (You Will Be Found). She leaned Portuguese to sing it in his language. She does the English version with Cory Asbury. I will say this, David, Gabriel and Dimash (his songs are more secular in nature but he has a G#7 octave range.) are three of the greatest male singers on the planet. If you haven't, I recommend you check out some of Gabriela's songs. All of his Gospel songs are in Portuguese which he has posted on social media. It wasn't until he covered I Have Nothing that people began to pay attention. Like I said they have similar stories. Shalom & Blessings...🙏❤️
@@dschlopes2734 Shalom, let's put aside the good/better. That may have been a little "cocky"! Forgive me! Gabriel is David 20+ years ago. Like Dimash, David was formally trained whereas, Gabriel is self taught. I think that's counts for something. Yes? Just think if he actually acquires some formal training! We can agree they all have been blessed with voices of angels! 🙏 And are three of the best singers on the planet! Shalom & Blessings...🙏 Be beautiful...❤️
David is THE BEST tenor on the planet!! Have been a Phelps follower for years and I've attended several concerts at his home in Tennessee.

He's from the USA. State of Texas. A Famous Gospel Singer. Former member of the Gaither Vocal Band. 🙂

He elevates the CLASS in his rendition of this classic! He is in his mid fifties still doing concerts at his home barn.

He was 51 when this was recorded, have seen him sing it live a few times, just as fabulous.

A song he does with his daughters is For These Tears I Died. Beautiful harmony. For David...Let Freedom Ring (done with the Gaither Vocal Band).

Dust in the wind!!!!!! David Phelps. He sings with his daughters. Most awesome

Also Whitney considered him her favorite tenor.
@@mailidong3576 She did before she heard Gabriel Henrique. She would've been proud.
Another beautiful song, of many is “The Wind and the Waves”.

Phenomenal performance.👏👏👏👏
No More Night live. Or LET Freedom Ring live at Carnegie Hall with the Gaither Vocal Band 😊
