He isn't beating him up he's describing the incorrect things the former owner did during the conversion. The prior owner DID NOT convert it he created an improperly done job and he's going to correct it. Just because you tried something and got it wrong doesn't make you immune from it being shown. That's how vintage cars are basically destroyed as they are an abortion and have their value destroyed! You sound like the former owners Mom not trying to hurt his feelings.
Its really amazing on someones vision is so spectacular to them but in reality it is not such a great idea. I am glad you are returning this car to a proper two door conversion by dimension and appearance ...
Another interesting and cool build. You are doing that car right. Not really sure what the previous owner was thinking. Never saw a 4 to 2 conversion done like that before.
@LocoCustoms they're cool chopped. Mine is too aggressive I think. I'll pull it out in a couple years and get to it I have a bunch to get to first. I'm starting a 49 cadillac flower car. I have a barn find video on my channel it's a year or so ago. The 57 is in there along with a 51 ford convertible 50's custom and an original 39k mile 47 fleetline.
I don't like lowered roofs, low riders, short beds or two doors. So sometimes your videos make me cringe. But the quality work, expert way it's presented and family camaraderie keep me watching :)
DD speed shop specializes in tri 5 chevys and does 4 to 2 door conversions but I've never seen anyone touch the roof like that. Just need 2 doors from a 2 door and move the center post. Crazy what the other owner did. Roof is the same on a 2 door or 4 door.
I agree. I watched a 4 to 2 conversion on a 57 about 15 years ago so i thought maybe i'd do the same to my 4 door hardtop 57 buick. For years i always missed out on being able to buy a 2 door 57 buick...until the end of 2023 when i found 1 for a reasonable price too. I just didnt care anymore and had lost interest on buying a actual 2 door 57 buick. Go figure.
Since there are many rust free chevys in Australia but are right hand drive, think you could convert one to left hand drive? They seemed to have been quite popular there also. Like this fellow who attempted to make a two door the absolute wrong way, there are a good many I call idiots over there also. I am seventy five and did this kind of work also... starting on the forty ford coupes and business sedans.... making one into a hardtop tho was a challenge I made happen... people swore it was factory and I got into fist fights to defend my work..... long before tig or mig welders I might add. Brazing rod and lead... some kind of filler but not sure it was called bondo.... this was in the fifties and early sixties... war and life gets in the way and so you raise kids and hell/LOL
Yes sir, I am not a fan of this 4dr to 2dr conversion business in the first place, but I do realize that 2dr sedans are not as plentiful as they once were. Many of those 2dr sedans were hot rodded (and torn up, ask me how I know) and many of those 2dr sedans wound up on the dirt tracks as well as other aspects of racing. My first car was a 56 Chevrolet 2dr sedan and like all young men I just had to have a hot rod, but in reality, it was a good serviceable automobile and with the right tires and tight suspension rode very well out on the open highway. If done in a tasteful manner even a 4dr sedan can be made into a reasonable serviceable automobile. With all of the aftermarket stuff available the sky is the limit as to what a person can do with these vehicles. At first, I could not understand what the fellow that was working on this car was doing until I observed the doors and realized that he used the shorter 4dr units instead of finding some good 2dr units. Odd one does not find that many useable 2dr sedans, but the doors can still be found in some sort of reasonable shape. This car will definitely be a good candidate for what you are about to do and I will agree with you as far as bringing the body back into specs and doing the standard 4dr to 2dr conversion before you do any other custom modifications, and as you have stated the car is going to be tubbed and set-up with larger tires tucked up under the body which to me looks better than jacking up the rear end and putting larger tires up under the car which was standard when I was coming up. You could not fit that large of a tire under those tri-five Chevrolets anyway with a stock wheel well. Be interested in following this build🥸👍🤏🤏🤏🤏🤏🤏
After owning seven try fives there’s no way my kids could afford to buy a two door we’ve already done 2 2dr to 4dr door conversions the right way. And everyone I know who has a four-door wishes they had a two door…….
@@LocoCustoms You guys really know your stuff and do a proper job. I've stopped watching other channels that have a lot to learn but don't admit it or start one thing after another and never get anything finished (mid morning here in England and frosty).
Thank you. We’re definitely guilty of not posting videos frequently enough. We are going to have a lot of updates to come on old builds. And that’s awesome! So cool to hear where you’re watching from. Good Morning! It’s currently 2:40 a.m. here in Pahrump.
Definitely not knocking your work which is very good. I like being different so I myself would have gotten the previous owners work up to scratch for a unique two door. Getting it to look like an original two door just makes it another regular two door.
That's actually worth money as opposed to the hack job you seemed to like done by an amateur that had no idea what he was doing and butchered a car many consider a classic and quite valuable.
I tell you, if I was the other guy and did not have access to 2 door doors I would have cut 6" off the front of the back doors and flipped them side to side and fabricated my own.
After watching a video 15 years ago of how someone did a 4 door to 2 door conversion on a 57 chevy i thought maybe i'd do the same with my 57 buick. Nope it doesnt work. I never did the conversion on my buick and so it sits. 15 years later.
The guy had a vision. He did the best he could. No need to beat him up.
He isn't beating him up he's describing the incorrect things the former owner did during the conversion. You can't fault a guy for having a vision and following through with it to the best of his abilities. Good to see you giving it the care it needs.
Damn…, made quick work of that mess, well done. Going to follow you guys to see the build👍🏼
It’s good to see masters working to get something done the correct way
Another interesting and cool build. You are doing that car right. Not really sure what the previous owner was thinking. Never saw a 4 to 2 conversion done like that before.
Thank you very much. He definitely did it his way-the way he wanted it. He was a really cool guy.
You're doing so good, don't F it up, no chop! keep it factory!
It is good to see Talented Craftsmen doing their thing !Keep up the GREAT Work! love watching you guys !
You guys are a pleasure to watch. True Professionals!
Glad to see you saving that 57, too bad so much hard work has to be redone.
Thank you, So glad you like the video! As much as it sucks to redo bad work my son had a blast, he was so excited to finally work on it.
Nice to see you guys back at it I’ve done 2 55 four-door two-door conversions the right way my kid could not afford to buy a regular two-door.
Another great video guys, thank you
You are bold sir and a very competent craftsman..best of luck
Glad to see someone with real skill redo that old Chevy . Great work man keep it up💪💪
Hey guys, great stuff, great skills, fun to watch!! Keep up the good work!
Nicely done guys, looks great, filmed good and very informative thanks
Good to see you all back building vehicles like you do so well.
I'd like to see the big block with the blower.
Or the 400 small block.
Very cool 🤙 I have my dads chopped 57 out at the barn still been sitting there since the 70's.
How awesome!! We would love to see a picture of that. That makes me want to chop this one, we’ve been contemplating.

Wow, lots of work!!
GOODMORNING Y'ALL, ARKANSAS STYLE LOVES Y'ALL. Down and dirty south, chopn' weld, great project.
Looking good again. Nice work
Glad you fixed it the way it's supposed to be can't believe the previous owner did that
Your doing a good job
I don't like lowered roofs, low riders, short beds or two doors. So sometimes your videos make me cringe. But the quality work, expert way it's presented and family camaraderie keep me watching :)
You guys get some wild builds to correct. I guess somebody has to do it
I think i'll take my 2dr post and make it a 4dr! I bet nobody's done that, yet!
Now thats funny
When it comes to tri-fives I'd have a 56 then a 55 then forget the 57s.
More Loco videos more.... Interesting build.
your dad looks like a badass!
Nicely done gentlemen! Why do u guys always end up with all these basketcases ha?
Wheres the videos of you doing all those repairs to that old pickup that was a death trap? Did you ever finish the repairs?
Either both of you should wear a mic, or nobody. The volume difference is BRUTAL.
Cutting roof off? Did you allow for the 1/8 or more of material the wheel cut out? Add it back to the length of the new cut?

whats up. waiting for update on ford truck
That video will be coming out very soon. We have done A LOT of work to it and still currently.
Happy New Year guys! Gonna look great. Don't be strangers!

@@Daniel-S1 Thank you! Can’t tell you how much it means that you watch our channel

Can you make it a hard top?
I tell you, if I was the other guy and did not have access to 2 door doors I would have cut 6" off the front of the back doors and flipped them side to side and fabricated my own.
I really need to consider changing my last name 😂😂😂
Hey you have good sons... very nice.

If that would have been an easy job the original guy would have done it in a weekend 👍
A lot of people did this they didn't have all the tools needed and this was just easier. Never understood it myself it just looks weird.
I can't understand why the previous owner done that, it was a lot of work to make it look all wrong..
You got that right, 20 years worth.
Typo at 1:08 its a “1957 Chevy”
I thought DD's speed shop was going to be a part of this when you said "butchered"😮
Chop it coz it will look sick az at least 4 “👍
You missed it... should have done mini suicide doors
Why not perfect what first guy did; might of had something there..
Cool A F
Way to advaced for me.
Terrible audio…
