I don’t comment very often because I watch your videos on my television rather than on my iPad or cellphone. I always enjoy your videos, no matter what you’re doing. I especially enjoy you restoring your vintage tractors or your truck. Thanks for all you do, filming, editing, etc. I hope you have a great day.

    Hi Pete and Hillary
Once again the little Case excavator has proved its worth imagine you try to pull out those trees virtually impossible for us humans,so using the equipment you have just makes the job easier on your own body. Take care both and family.

Removing them with a tractor and chain would have been a bit slower and meant getting on and off the tractor a bit more frequently, but hardly impossible.

What's amazing is that Pete not only does all we see him so on his farm but he's also the head of video editing. Most successful channels like his hire a group of young video editors to craft all the hours of footage into a neat 20 to 30-minute package. Where does Pete get the time!? Pete your drone footage is getting better and better as well. Really enjoyed your tree removal montage too!

Everything old again is new again. I knew a Farmer in the Fingerlakes region back in the 60's who took three brush hogs and bolted and welded them together in that same "Batwing" configuration, and designed his own pully system off the center one and drove the two outside ones with V belts above the decks. it worked great! He bought his center one new and "scrounged" up the other two free! they were in sad shape but little mechanical work and welding got them operational and he used them for years with great success. at least 7 years that I knew him. anyway. great to see that work the way you wanted it to and 25 yrs on that field is good run on that grass. thanks for sharing ECF

Hi Pete. TBH a mold board plough is exactly what you do need to be using for this application, turning over old pasture.
A chisel plough is fine for regularly worked ground year on year for crops where you only really need to stir up the soil and help break down any weeds and trash. But for actually getting the sod turned over like you plan to do you can’t beat a traditional mold board plough. Looking forward to seeing the video for this when you get it down. Thanks Pete.

That’s a handy machine on the farm or wherever you need to take down overgrowth! I used to operate a 21’ batwing finish mower for a customer and could do 20 acres in a few hours around trees and ponds. But reclaiming your land is good for the environment and the livestock will benefit the most. Very nice program you have there and looks very nice as well. Love the videos, thankyou.

A little rain and the wind picked up a little too it sounds. When I was younger we subdivided the hayfields to pasture cows late in the year. I would do that myself as my brother was back in college. So I took the old trusty MM Z and i spent a whole week just making fences then at the end of the week I was back in college too. Sometime during the first weeks of November I would come home and spend the weekend taking all of those fences down. Fond memories. Now the cows are gone but "Old Minnie" has a new life ( not unlike a Farmall MD).

The more I see the excavator, the more I like the excavator. I want one for Christmas. Maybe I'll buy my husband one. Pretty sure I would loose track of what he was digging, yanking out, dragging around or pounding in as well as all the other ways he would find to enjoy it. I would never get my fair share of using it! Lovely mower and even better neighbors for lending it. Good neighbors are a real Blessing and I just know your family are the best neighbors. Can not wait to see how the field turns out. Say Hi to Patty for me and I'll see you next time.

    Hi Pete,
you do a great job taking us with you on the farm! I am already full of joy to see you plowing. Over here in Europe, we would disc the pasture before plowing to berak up the sods. This ensures a better decompostation after plowing and avoid a gras horizonthat will be like a hard pan especially on such an old pasture. I am sure aware of it but I just want to mention that the rotten sod will bring a huge amount of nitrogen that might affect any legumes you sow with your pasture mix.

If you are having to mow a large area, a batwing sure makes short work of it. I live on our family farm. After my father passed, we got a second hand rhino batwing. The first time I had it on good repair, I cut the front field. I usually took 3 to 4 hours with a 6ft. I was done in 45 minutes and almost felt guilty. I wish my dad had gotten to mow with it. Love your content and good stewardship to the land.

Did you remember to tilt the solar panels? This is your friendly reminder. Great video as usual. I never thought you would have so many uses for that mini, but you find new ways all the time. Next get a big wide blade and you can plow snow with it. Super A would be real sad.

You could see the difference in the quality of the pastures from the drone shots. The pasture you're going to refresh wasn't as green and lush as the other pastures around it. Looking forward to see your process of refreshing the grazing pasture. Also, that mower is a beast. Cut through that goldenrod like it was nothing even though goldenrod can be tough to cut. Anyway, thanks for another great video Pete.

Hi Pete, I am from Central Scotland and most farmers here regularly plough their fields. I watch a number of channels on UA-cam and I think you’re going to be the first one to actually plough a field and disc it later on before seeding it.
Can I ask that when you come to plough it you explain as only you can how to set the plough up for depth and draft etc so it turns the sod over properly.
What other treasures have you hidden away in the overgrowth 🤔
