So, I'm watching you chuck the oak firewood up the incline toward the woodstore and into my mind pops, "How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?"
So much fun with the silliness. Love it! You are doing such an amazing job bringing the cottage and the island back to life. Humor will help get you through.
Another fantastic episode! I laughed at your banter and empathized with how all of your hard work can be exhausting. Thank you for taking the time to share your lives with us. Pet the kitties and sheep for us!
I absolutely love you guys. Blow off the naysayers and continue to be the adorable people that you are. I joined your channel to follow your journey, to experience your challenges and be supportive regardless. I must admit, your natural banter absolutely cracks me up. I truly enjoy getting to watch the transformation of your lives, your home and your fur and wool babies. You are both very unique and inspiring. Thank you for sharing the amazing history of your country and culture. Without such contributions, my country, yes I'm afraid so Scott, America would not be as diverse and rich. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
Stunning Video once again you two ❤️ They just get better and better every time, love your humour 😂😂😂 as always ignore the trolls and keep doing what you’re doing xxxxxxx
The best thing we've had wash up on the shore below us was the carcus of an old pine chest of drawers. We then found the four drawers scattered along a quarter mile stretch. It now lives in the house. It's in book of things found on the shore in Orkney..
Lovely. We'd have done the exact same. I seem to remember Margaret Leigh saying something similar when she lived at a costal crofting settlement; good book if you're interested! Spade Among the Rushes. Kx
@@TheScottishIsle just found it on ebay. 👍 We've often wondered how a chest of drawers found it's way into the sea in the first place. Very strange but very welcome find.
Your videos just get better and better! Sillier and more fun! You both are so much more comfortable on camera than you were at the start. Delightful! "I repeat! Don't be repetitive!" But my favorite Katie line lately was the murmured whisper as she stood by a derelict croft: "bracken." Bwahaha!
I can see how much work that is to remove the concrete, but when it's done you both will be relaxing in your chairs and admiring it! The stone is such beautiful tones that we can already admire the walls. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Y’all crack me up 😂 I love how you still have fun despite the “grumpy bunnies” who try to tell you what to do and how to do it or just tell you that you’re doing things incorrectly. “Stand down!” I so appreciate your hard work and the filming/editing of the hard work! Thank you!
I think a zip wire (or more) leading from the top of a hill down to the er, bottom, would save a great deal of effort after walking up a hill. And I think we'd all smile broadly to see Katy whizzing downwards and we'd laugh heartily to witness Scott doing it. Well. I'd smile and laugh, for sure.
Absolutely love your videos from Australia... i try to hold off from watching them straight away...i love the anticipation. Its always a joy to watch you both ❤
Quick - tell all your friends that we have the best one going! Yes, we read that about the geese, especially the males; they sound like swans in that respect. Kx
I just want to say that I love watching your videos, and thank you for inviting all of us to have this peek into your lives. I find it so comforting and calming to see you two working hard, and enjoying life - and your humor is so inviting. Just know that you're bringing happiness to others, and we do appreciate it.
Very exciting to see that beautiful stone appear from under that plaster. I can understand your dismay at the cleanup! The skunk cabbage is a very interesting plant.
You all are funny! My granny would always say if they are talking about you they are leaving someone else alone.😅 Just think of it as flattery, people just aren’t happy if they can’t make someone miserable. I enjoy your channel, love your antiques and your adventures on your Scottish Isle.
wow.. loved seeing how the roots were breaking up the rock! Interesting how much power is in those roots! I liked the thingy being a balistic missile better 🤣
Love the "ta dah!"and isn't it beautiful! Having done similar (when many years younger) can only admire all the effort put in and the ache of the body from repetitive jar back as one keeps on "beating the lag out of the stones"! Glad that l no longer have to do the like but sincerely enjoy the memories evoked!😅And ld only wet sand to catch the fall out and brush up at the time, generator was unreliable, and budget tight then. You make all funny and you're a delightful pair.Thankyou, and l'll put the kettle on....best wishes,Julia. Brisbane, Australia 🇦🇺 ❤ 😀 🪃 ,
Hi , really enjoying the channel. Re the constant dust. Maybe of some help. We converted an old barn with internal walls covered in lime mortar. We found using a fine water spray to spray the wall before hand helped but also to spray the air periodically as it pulls the dust down with it. But yes the dust gets everywhere and is a nightmare to live in whilst completing the renovation. Stick at it, worth it in the end !
Well done with the walls, poor arms must be aching💪 Your furniture has character and it is beautiful, ignore the dumdums with no taste. Right. I’ll go put the kettle on then 😊xx Teresa 🇦🇺♥
I loved the moment Scott said that’s it Katie isn’t it I mean that is it Katie we’ve finished the wall 😂😂😂😂😂 Katie’s responds errrrr wellll no scottt we have one more wall to do 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You are THE most delightful couple!😊. SO hard working too. Much admiration for you both. Thank you for continuing to share your lives on the island 🏝. We have a ton of wood delivered (from our island as we are pretty much self sufficient) and know the hard work in storing it xx
I can't get over the number of books Scott has, I can't imagine how you'd fit them all in the space you have! Pretty cool having your own library though.
I like Kate's dresses i wear dresses ive ordered stuff fro the house of braur and Scotland very expensive but quality costs You 2 are sweet and matched devinly How blessed you 2 are. I looked at a few homes for sale one in sky...its expensive there as you said getting accepted to live there permanently is a obstacle. I want a place i dont have to restore thats livable with a few upgrades needed. Its the openess and beauty of scotland that attracts me soooo much heaven would describe scotland Rual open and nature georgous rich in history What a place to live what a adventure everday
No, the walls need to 'breathe', or they'll be running with moisture. That's why you use lime instead of cement, and breathable paint rather than normal emulsion. Kx
You two are definitely highlights in my week. Love the humor, especially knowing not everyone understands, makes it all 10x funnier. Love what you're doing 😊. Thanks for being you!👍
I know exactly what you going through, I did the same in the early 90’s, we moved every night from one room to the other, it went on for months during the winter. To restore the whole house took us 6 years. In the end, it worth it. I’ll do the same if I have to.
Chipping away. Looks good . my arms getting tired just watching you . Swinging a hammer all day was how I made my living . I'm an Old Man now I liked it not bad paid well .
Another awesome video. I pace about anxiously for the next episode. Anyway, that little stone shed could be restored fairly easily. The cracks and the corners of the building could be repaired and reinforced with rebar, and a new floor of local flagstone. New roof of course. I'd say go for it, when the time is right!
FYI a library has to be at least 500 books. I just googled it. Great episode as usual guys, Keep them coming. My arms are aching just watching you clean the walls. Looking forward to seeing the finished results. Now "ill go put the kettle on "
Your hollow tube good for growing spuds in. Put it on the soil and put in old straw, or hay, put in your seed potatoes and earth up with compost. As the green shoots appear, earth up again and keep repeating until you reach the top. You should get a good crop from a small container.
Great job on the wall! I can't imagine the dust. I've seen all sorts of methods described for cleaning stains on fireplace stones, including some really smelly methods! I'm sure you will find the right approach. Good luck!
There has got to be away to use all that lovely seaweed as a composting! How far down or across do the roots of the 'Skunk' plant spread? Will they help with saving the crop that you put in? You watch, there will be gardeners everywhere hoping this plant keeps of slugs and snails too! Get ready for any inflation of orders down South of this wonderful Scottish plant. Life is often trail and error, but the sound and vision problem just makes me want even more to know what you two are thinking about doing next. I would not miss it for the world! You two make my week. I have to schedule weekly when I can sit and enjoy your company. Thank you!
I grew up in Brackendale, BC and there was Skunk Cabbage everywhere in the spring. You need to step on the whole plant, including the flower and they smell like skunk and of course as kids we would run through the ditches stomping on every plant we could see!

Ooh seaweed makes great compost, dig it into the soil now, or spread it on any beds you’re resting, ready for planting them next spring.
Check out this earlier episode for how we used the seaweed and some history on its use by the crofters: ua-cam.com/video/l1o1QAXzXjc/v-deo.html
