A note I would like to leave.
If you have a phone that has a 120Hz screen or at least 90Hz, I would totally give it a try, usually 60Hz isn't quite enough, so some people tend to get sick, but if your phone suports higher refresh rates, it will be a smoother experience, I just would use cable, since wireless will probably struggle with higher refresh rates.
the issue here isn't with the refresh rate, sure it helps a lot but the big issue with these types of setups is the tracking... The phone uses the built in gyroscopes to know ''where you are looking'' at and it's not very precise and makes it feel sluggish.

I dont think people give mobile VR the credit that it's due. Even though I use PCVR with my Oculus Quest, I still love mobile VR. its impressive to me to get VR running on a phone.

You know what game i tried first on similar setup? The forest. I got very sick even before the game started. And playing a game with movement as first PCVR title was quite a mistake.That is basically what made me get Quest 2 (along with some "movies").

Would this work on an older PC? I really want to get into VR but I've got an i7 4770 and 32gb ddr3 w an rx570 4gb. As for the phone, I have a pixel 6
should be fine l, I ran vr on a 570 and a ryzen 3 3100 with 16gb ddr4. Just had to play on lower settings

thank you, my gf was mind blown bc she always wanted to try pc2 with vr. though we have an connection issue. galaxy s21 connected to usb 3.0 on the back of our pc, highest bitrate i was able to use is 5mbits, any higher and the image gets so boxy, you can't see where you're driving. but even at 5mbit it's good enough for 1440p120fps
Try to turn off wifi on your phone, had same problem, when wifi is turn on it connect automaticly via wifi, when i turned off wifi cannot connect via usb, tethering and hotspot turned on but connection usb cant find.

If your phone supports 144hz enable it so you wont get dizzy, also try 1.5 rendering if you can so it looks much better aswell.
i know of phones with 120hz but not 144. you got a model in mind?
@@ashadowintime7305 asus rog phones for sure, I think the 7th iteration had even 175hz support. There are also other gaming phones that these refresh rates, but idk if riftcat actually supports more than 60 fps. Also idk if it supports variable refresh rates, as vr gaming is way more demanding then normal, so if you don't have a good enough hardware you might not be able to get a constant fps figure. I think the best you can do is to try and lower all the way down the settings and put an fps cap.

Yeah did this long ago to use on Assetto as well. I'd rather just use single screen. It's quite meh.

I think you mean fov you simply need bigger lenses so a bigger vr headset or try brining the headset closer to your eyes

I cant connect via usb, tethering usb on, hotspot usb on and application on pc cant see phone, when i turn on wifi it is connected to wifi despite usb connection setup, anyone had that problem or any advice?
Keep in mind this isn't like using an actual VR headset. Don't let using this influence your decision on getting something like a Quest 2 or higher.

Edit: Yes, yes it does. This method REQUIRES basestations. Which just straight up disqualifies this as a cheap VR as we're still talking a MINIMUM of 500-800 dollars for the basestations...
