tbh it deserves the price since it has everything in it, you just plug it in the pc and play with ultra high quality, but ofc you also need a high end pc for this

there before half life alyx was released all these headsets were cheap till half life alyx came so greedy companies who sold vrs for cheap now made it more expensive since people wanna buy vr headsets for half life alyx

I have a Rift CV1, Acer WMR and a VR-Tek WVR1. I use the Oculus the most, the Acer is not as bad as you'd might think. I got that for doing VR outside my home. The VR-Tek was the cheap Walmart one without VR controllers but a standard PC gaming controller instead. I only use it for when I wanna screw around in VRChat but don't wanna jump around in my full body tracking.

I've got a vive and I'm on the waiting list for an index but my suggestion for someone looking for budget entry is going to be to look into the windows mixed reality lines. I'm not sure which headsets specifically you'll want, but they're surprisingly functional for not being targeted for gaming.
I think you missed the real points with the rift s and vive, the rift s is a lot more comfy and has a lot better controllers than vive however DOESNT HAVE IPD ADJUSTMENT. I can always reccomend rift s over vive unless you want to upgrade to knuckles and even eventually index or more importantly your ipd is out of range.
I recently bought the HTC vive and love it its an amazing headset may been released 2016 but it does the job has amazing screen and customisation

Still a WMR user in 2024. After three years of excellent service, my HP WMR finally shit itself and I scored a complete replacement, new controllers and all, for $100 on ebay.
This is assuming you have an epic rig to run the games on, you should do a video on making a budget VR rig, and pair it with a budget headset to try to get the absolute best bang for your buck.

The HMD doesn't matter. The software is what you are asking for, which is "virtual desktop". You can watch SBS video and play any game your pc can run with a custom flatscreen that you can change size, distance, curve, ect.

Having thoroughly used both the rift S and the Vive, I must say that I absolutely prefer rift S. You're saying vive has 'far, far improved tracking', but really, I think oculus' inside out tracking is getting way too much undeserved shit. I have almost no issues with it, and can easily go many sessions without even noticing it being different from vive's basestation tracking.
The screen clarity and superior controllers on the rift S just adds so much to the experience that I can't recommend vive over it, unless for a few exceptions:
Exception one: You really really want to get into VR right now, but also know that you'll soon have the money to upgrade to better controllers and eventually even a better HMD.
Exception two: Your IPD is out of a typical range (~61-67mm), and thus get completely fucked over by oculus' decision to make rift S have only 1 screen.

bruh used oculus rift cv1 its 300 dollars in my country , and used htc vive is 500 to 700 in my country. Im just sad :( only oculus go is 125 dollars in my country and I can find it in other countries at 50 dollars

Controllers only work for their specific HMD. When you buy a VR kit, it comes with the HMD and controllers.

Definitely not. +Link is a hacked solution to a horrible non-viable VR experience. Streaming VR over usb3 is hilariously bad in comparison to a dedicated display cable. Rift S blows the Quest+Link out of the water, hardly even the same experience. I have a Quest, it's cool, but it's not nearly good enough to compare against real dedicated VR kits.
EVOLICIOUS excuse me wat, you definitely need some help if you’re having issues, my friends play with a link just like a rift s and in fact prefer the quest with a link on a rift s :/
EVOLICIOUS I need to point out that a link has no latency most of the issues are the link itself issues and I think they can be fixed... did you even try it with a pc? It really near a pcvr experience... not like you said... many people can play normally and it’s like the quest transformed into an actual rift s... it’s either that you’re having your own issues, or you just never tried it and afraid to lol
