A beautiful and sensitive video of the Brontë family’s home and surrounds. Like many people, we had to study their books at school, here in Australia. I found their books thrilling, yet the authors lives were so sad, dying so young as they did. Thank you for this tribute to their lives, their village and the moors they loved.

Oh, this was so so good… I truly appreciate the time and the details that you included to make this wonderful… I do have to add though that, although the events of their lives seemed tragic and were, a part that is missing from this is their deep faith. The books have their faith in God as Christians running all through them, and I believe that the father, who saw so much pain, took refuge in the Lord to bring him through his life.
Stunning and beautiful Yorkshire scenery!!! Amazing and yet tragic story of the Bronte family!!! One can only imagine the effects of their deaths on Patrick Bronte, having to live with the painful experience of their lives cut short by disease, damp environment and drinking/drug abuse, for the rest of his life. Thank you again for your wonderful work!!! 💖
Hello Cassandra, yes totally agree I cannot imagine how he managed to go on. Terrible story, but a least they live on now and bring joy to many. Some small consolation.
@@MemorySeekers , I remember very clearly reading the book "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte, and also seeing something like 7 movie adaptations, and the TV adaptation of this particular book. Excellent tour of the historic places of the talented Bronte sisters! What a stunning and rugged countryside. It must have been magical to walk where the sisters walked. We forget how tenuous life was in the 1800's. I look forward to your next adventure! All the best to you both from Massachusetts!🙂
Simon and Will you outdid yourselves this time. My favourite so far. What a tragic tale. So much loss. It was the way of the times but I don’t know how they handled it all. I was waiting to see if the sisters found love. Charlotte being left as the only surviving child, then she finds love and her and her unborn child die. How much we take for granted in our time. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate the hard work you both put in to bring us these beautifully crafted videos. I do look forward to them every week. Much love. ❤️🇨🇦
Hello Jill, you comment makes it all worthwhile. Everything you say is so true. I don't know how they could handle it. Terrible. Thank you so much for watching. 😊
I wouldn’t assume that Charlotte found love with her husband. She married quite late, as her father was aging. For women of that era, marriage was extremely important as a way to survive, assuming the man wasn’t abusive. If she’d survived her father as a spinster, she’d have been homeless, as a new curate wouldn’t have allowed her to stay, unless he could afford to hire her as a governess for his own children, if any. She’d have needed to either find employment, or hope that her Irish or Cornish relatives could take her in. Her books subsequent to Jane Eyre didn’t sell as well. The idea of marrying only for love was still relatively new, and many people married for economic and other reasons. Patrick’s initial objection to the match may have been because there was no love there; or, perhaps, since childbirth was very dangerous for women, and Charlotte was old to have a first baby, in those days, he may also have feared for her safety. But he also would have known that were he to predecease her, she’d be hard-pressed to make a living on her own. Which may have been why he relented. How bitter for him that she died while pregnant. Life in that era was very hard.
@@Historian212 I guess that’s what I meant. I should have said that she married and wasn’t left alone. I’m well aware marriages were out of necessity and convenience then.
Thank you so much! I love your videos, but this has to be one my favourites. I spent a year abroad at The University of Leeds during my English Lit degree, and visits to Haworth were a must. This brings back many fond memories of my brief time as a "Yorkshire lass".
My daughter & I stayed at the Old White Lion Inn across from the Black Bull in May and loved Haworth. The people were so warm and welcoming. They even have their own taxi company that took us back to Bradford to the train station.
I think if we went back again, we would try one of the pubs to stay in. The do look delightful and being right in the centre is just lovely. Especially at night when its quiet.
I have to say that all your segments on the homes and haunts of British literary figures are so enjoyable . I am looking forward to the tour of the Bronte parsonage . It sounds as though the Bronte family biography would make a a great gothic novel in it's self .
Thank you Joen. I agree with you, I like the night scenes it was so lovely to walk around, the village is quiet at night and the rain just makes all the lights bleed on the cobbled streets. We got some good photos that night.
What an emotional trip. I love the historic description You always add to every image. We can almost see the girls writing the novels. Great video as usual. Cheers.
As others have said, you gentlemen have outdone yourselves this time. Excellent job! I loved the dark rainy view of the cobble streets. I can imagine Heathcliff striding there with a scowl, his coat tails flapping. He looks a bit like Tom Hardy, lol. Thank you for braving the walk up to the "heights". I love that novel, and did a deep dive into the history of the family, as well as reading the entire published works. It is such a treat to see the locations up close. Your final thoughts made me think of Mozart, who died at what I consider a very young age; did their talents burn bright because their lives were short, or would they have, as you said, gone on to even greater things. I am sending this on to my six favorite people, all of whom love books and everything English. Looking forward to your tour of the parsonage. Kudos!
Hello, so pleased you enjoyed it. I too love the dark wet night scenes in Haworth. We were lucky to be there then. Its not often you want the rain but it really helped the presentation and we took some lovely shots as the rain made the street lights shine into the cobbles. The place was so quiet then as well. Eerie but amazing. Thank you for sharing!
I can't thank you enough for this - i've dreamed of the Yorkshire moors in WH since I read it at age 11 - you made me see it in reality - can't wait to go - thank you.
@@MemorySeekers You hit it exactly on the head - you're so good with getting the gist of places - that is exactly the experience and thank you for the good wishes - God willing one day.
I visited the parsonage 40 years ago.I amAustralian and cannot afford to go again.I wanted to visit the pub where Branwelldid his drinking but Brit Rail were on strike and l had to return to London.
What a great episode, thankyou. Certainly a sad family, I cant imagine how hard it would have been for their Dad to outlive them all. Watching you both doing the walk makes me realise how tricky that would have been in clothing of the era! Looking forward to the next one . Youre dry over there which must be unusual while over here nearby towns are facing rising floodwaters. 🙂 cheers Cheryl
Do you know I had never considered the clothing issue, but you are right. An I thought it was hard with all our modern bits and proper boots! Stay safe hope the floods do not affect you to much.
Love your videos ! Living in New Zealand they transport me back to my home country and many loved places. Have read Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights many times. Heathcliff was my teenage hero ! Thanks so much for your wonderful work
This is one of your best vlogs! Beautifully filmed and great commentary. Brought back such wonderful memories of my visit in 2016. I walked up onto the moors from the parsonage but given the terrain you showed, I’m glad I didn’t press on to Top Withens 🙏 looking forward to more of your vlogs 😊 🌼
So nice to know you have been and experienced it for yourself. We were in too minds to go that far but we really needed to for the video, and so glad we pushed ourselves to do it. Loved every minute of the walk.
I am so thankful I have been there, and made the walk to Top withens. The moors are amazing. I love their books and movies. Overwhelming to have walked on the ground, where they once walked, and seen some of their personal things.
Fantastic documentary! Thank you for bringing back the memories. I visited Haworth and walked the same paths you did on the moors 20 years ago. I was much younger back then, but it was still quite the hike especially on the uneven paths and rocky slopes. I didn't take any videos back then, so I'm really glad to have discovered this episode on UA-cam to take me back and relive some precious memories. Those Bronte sisters must've had quite the stamina to walk through this landscape every day as their playground!
Well done, you both deserved a pint after that hike, the scenery and the history is so interesting. You always manage to provide so much information, a real treat for anyone who is planning a trip to the UK, and for those expats a taste of home. Another great presentation looking forward to the next instalment.🐨🦘🐨🦘😷👍👍
As always thank you Jeanette, lovely to hear you enjoyed it. Yes the pint was needed and the break! It was a tough walk at times but soooooo worth it. 😊
This was wonderful. Thank you so much. I read Wuthering Heights when I was 10 years old (possibly too young) and was told that I talked about it in my sleep. 😏
Thank you for the walking tour of West Yorkshire and the locales familiar to the Bronte family. It makes their lives and their books more meaningful to see the physical context in which they were written. For the sake of the narrative, the scandals and controversies surrounding the sisters, particularly Charlotte's suppression of her sisters' works, were omitted. They might make a fitting subject for a future video. Anne's literary reputation especially suffered from Charlotte's misguided judgment, when Anne was in fact the most modern, realistic and insightful of the three novelists. She deserved better.
Hello, We only wanted to give a potted history of the Brontes in the video. It was more about the places they visited really rather than a full on documentary. Thank you for the suggestion and your thoughts, though we do appreciate it.
This could not have released at a better time. Currently reading Wuthering Heights, a pure jewel of a novel. It's a shame their lives were taken away so prematurely. Wonderful video, as always ❤️
That was so good to watch, I loved it all and saw lots of the surrounding area that I haven’t seen before. The videoing was excellent quality. I am now looking forward to part two. I have been to Haworth three times but I’m still seeing more of it from your coverage. This has been a real treat for me. Thank you so much.
Hello Mary, it is lovely to hear that you have experienced it and that we can still share something you didn't know or hadn't seen. Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
Thank you so much for this awesome pilgrimage in the Bronte’s family life so brief and still so fruitful for our deeper understanding of the great English literature. The burden of sadness was present all along this beautiful voyage. A unique feeling to be remembered. Once again, Thank you very much « Memoryseekers » for this precious gift.
Thank you so much, it is very hard to find the right tracks. It can take a long time sifting through to find the right one. Lovely to hear you appreciated it.

Extremely interesting and fascinating, such delightful countryside and villages, I don't want to miss a single bit of the next videos, congratulations on the excellent result of your work 💚💚
Yet another outstanding video! I'm watching this on the anniversary of the publication of Jane Eyre, October 16th. It's long been a favorite of mine, and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful look at the lives of this exceptional family. There's a campaign on to raise money to purchase the house in Thornton so it can be opened to the public. Looking forward to the next video in this wonderful series!
I have always known that the lives of the Bronte Sisters were unlucky, but I didn't imagine that they were very much ominous and sinister! You guys have put my psyche in a very sad state by the information you have given about the Bronte's and their tragic lives. And that in itself is a testimony for your good work. Thanks a lot and keep it up.
I am sure there were very happy times for them between the sadness. Anne and Charlotte were governesses, and Emily was happy in her domestic enviroment. Also their book writing kept them busy and success meant a lot to them.
It is a very sad tale, one which I am sure was similar for many families of that era. People did die young then due to many factors. We find it quite shocking now but it was the norm back then. Knowing that they were no different to other families suffering death might have helped them come to terms with it? It was affecting every household in the area. We will touch on this more when we walk in Haworth in a future video, mortality rates were unusually high in Haworth as can be seen in the Church which is crammed full of very young locals. 😰 As others have said there were many periods of happiness for the Brontes, they seemed a very strong family.
My heart is so much taken up this video, I fail in words to put out... I agree with u if only ever the 3 Bronte sisters were alive, lots more masterpieces would have made history of novels with unique love stories & writing skills... I'm obsessed with their books 📚😍💕 if only they had been more books.... I must tell ur video brought me a thrill of "True Bronte Sisters history " beyond words with ur mesmerizing views, visualization, editing & narration on main... I literally traveled with u guys & so bewitching Yorkshire's beauty--- the bridge, moors, buildings, church... I'm just in a magic spell of love place I dreamed since I learned from books... thank u from bottom of my heart & waiting for more....
Harsha, what can we say, you have really enjoyed the video today. I know you were waiting for this one! So pleased we were able to meet your expectations. Very happy that you enjoyed it so much. 😊
decluttering every confusions whatever existed for bronte sisters. Wholehearted love and blooming kisses to the person who created this wonderful documentary presentation.
Very good filming, and very atmospheric. I also liked seeing the interior of the parsonage, imagining the Brontes using the objects displayed. The wild moors, the tragic short lives, the heartbreak - I can see how they influenced Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre, both wonderful books.
Simon and Will this is stunning. How you have mixed in the life story of the Brontes and the sights to visit, it's magic. I listen to audio books as I work and Wuthering Heights is next on the list, I haven't read it for years. I can't wait for the sequel vlogs. Thank you as always. =-)

I worked over 10 years on a Bronte collection of drawings which were later in exhibition in the Museum! The Bronte Family, the brother and the sisters and the place are absolutely stunning!
I have walked to Top Withens many times. I live in the area. The Ordnance Survey maps now just label it "Ruins" having demoted it from Withins (in Ruins). I never knew the trees were named.
Another wonderful, well researched and presented video. I'm enjoying the Yorkshire series a lot, given me plenty of ideas for visits. Haworth is special to me as my wife proposed to me (I was too slow apparently) there, and we are still happily married 16 years later!
Great to see the Moors in bloom and bracken! The start of the circular walk shows that maintenance on the track has been getting a bit behind schedule - from the pandemic upheavals one presumes. Lets hope that's fixed before too much erosion takes place. A stunning scenic reprise that almost makes the long past grinding through Wuthering Heights in school English classes worthwhile!
My brother lived in Haworth for a while, so I was lucky enough to stay on occasion. I burst into tears the first time I walked into the dining room at the Parsonage, I felt so overwhelmed.

Hello, so happy to hear you enjoyed it and its a fav for you. Also happy we stirred memories of happy time sin Leeds and Yorkshire 😊
@@MemorySeekers the pub was wonderful! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The room was clean, comfortable & a great value for the area.
@@AndreaD. good to know thank you!
I have to say that all your segments on the homes and haunts of British literary figures are so enjoyable . I am looking forward to the tour of the Bronte parsonage . It sounds as though the Bronte family biography would make a a great gothic novel in it's self .
So kind David. Thank you very much, this makes us very happy.
I had exact same thought as I was watching this. I’d love to see it as a movie.
Great job as usual. I loved the early dark morning/ evening rainy parts. Beautiful country. Looking forward to more. Blessings and hugs.
Cheers.
So kind thank you, glad it came across well. It's such a tragic story to tell.
I really enjoyed this extended walking tour along with the history of the Brontë family. I look forward to seeing the next walk😊👏👏👏
So happy you liked it Carol. We had a wonderful time visiting to make it.
Thank you for watching so glad you enjoyed the walk and we do hope you get to experience the wind in your hair and the remoteness yourself.
Thanks so much for your wonderful work
Hello Pam, so nice to hear our videos transport you back to England. It is our pleasure to be able to share them. All the best.
My bucket list
Hope you make it happen!
I am so thankful I have been there, and made the walk to Top withens. The moors are amazing. I love their books and movies. Overwhelming to have walked on the ground, where they once walked, and seen some of their personal things.
So nice to hear you have experienced a visit. 😊
I love your shows. This was brilliant. Justice to the Bronte's. Looking forward to next week's show.
Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you so glad you enjoyed it, I struggle to understand some of it even now so how you managed at 10 I don't know! 😊
@@MemorySeekers I read it at 11 along with lotsof Dickens.
One of the last landscapes you guys filmed was just awesome! So beautiful! Thanks for sharing those precious piece of History! Well done!!!♥️
It is a stunning part of the country, one I wished we had visited more in the past!
This could not have released at a better time. Currently reading Wuthering Heights, a pure jewel of a novel. It's a shame their lives were taken away so prematurely. Wonderful video, as always ❤️
Thank you for your kind words Iris, great timing!
The music chosen is exquisite, overall great feature.
Thank you so much, it is very hard to find the right tracks. It can take a long time sifting through to find the right one. Lovely to hear you appreciated it.
Beautifully presented 💝
Thank you!
Thank you so much. Very interesting and beautifully filmed..
Glad you enjoyed it
Oh...I am so excited for this! (But cannot watch right now 😢) just wanted to give a 'thumbs up' now as I know it'll be great! Love you guys! 😁 thank you 👍 from New Hampshire.....will watch tonight!
How you enjoy it! Lovely to know you cannot wait to get home to watch it! 😊
Perfection!!! 👍 I loved the video footage in the the rain on cobblestone alleys and the hike was beautiful ~ so nice to see many old buildings/homes still standing too...holding my breath til next week! 😉 thanks S&W 👏👏👏
I really enjoyed this documentary! I learned more about the Bronte family that I hadn't heard before. Thank you!
Magnificamente relatado . Enhorabuena y gracias por mostrar tantas cosas de ese maravilloso país.
Thank you Sarah, glad we have something you didn't know about. 😊
Muchas gracias, me alegra saber que lo disfrutó. ¡Gracias por ver!
Fantastic video. I've read and reread the Bronte novels over the years. It was great learning about their life & inspiration. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thank you Marsha, so nice to know you learnt something new from our presentation.
Thank you guys for a very lovely episode on the Bronte family. It was beautifully made! Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you Linda, so lovely to hear.
Extremely interesting and fascinating, such delightful countryside and villages, I don't want to miss a single bit of the next videos, congratulations on the excellent result of your work 💚💚
Thank you so much, really nice to hear!
Great information Cheryl, thank you. Good to know they want to try and save this important house to be part of the Bronte story properly.
@@MemorySeekers, you're very welcome.
As others have said there were many periods of happiness for the Brontes, they seemed a very strong family.
@@MemorySeekers enjoyed.... yes... I loved it so much... thank u
decluttering every confusions whatever existed for bronte sisters. Wholehearted love and blooming kisses to the person who created this wonderful documentary presentation.
So glad you liked it.
Thank you for another lovely video! You never disappoint. I look forward to the next video. It's a great start to the weekend 😉
Thank you, have a great weekend Brandie
Very good filming, and very atmospheric. I also liked seeing the interior of the parsonage, imagining the Brontes using the objects displayed. The wild moors, the tragic short lives, the heartbreak - I can see how they influenced Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre, both wonderful books.
Thank you, so glad you liked it. Next week we will take a deeper look inside the house up close the the objects and possessions on display.
Simon and Will this is stunning. How you have mixed in the life story of the Brontes and the sights to visit, it's magic. I listen to audio books as I work and Wuthering Heights is next on the list, I haven't read it for years. I can't wait for the sequel vlogs. Thank you as always. =-)
Thank you so much Lorraine, we had our doubts, I have to say, on how the mixing of the history and the visiting of the places would work. In the end we are very happy with it and the comments confirm we made the right decision!
This was lovely ❤. Thank you so much for this tour
Thank you for watching. 😊
@@MemorySeekers You are more than welcome 🤗! I love your BEAUTIFUL Uk 🇬🇧! One day I will get there! I’ve been to other countries but, this is the One ☝🏻 I really love. Even if I have to come on my own 🥰
Another brilliant presentation. Though I have been there before visiting the town and patronage but you have managed to surprise me with new stories and sceneries. Thank you so much! Love your videos. 👍❤
Thank you so pleased we managed to share something new.
I have been there in 2018 just on a day visit so beautiful 😍
That was a wonderful overview of the lives of the Bronte family and the countryside in which they lived. Thanks.
😊👍
Absolutely stunning footage! This was such a beautiful film and narrated so well. I really enjoyed all the narrative and history you fill your videos with. I learn so much more than any commercial guidebook. Also, well done on completing the walk, it was so difficult in places and you both deserved the beer at the pub. Thank you both.
Thank you so much for the kind words. It really means a lot! So pleased you enjoyed it. 😊
I am throughly enjoying this series. Your postings are always educational and today I learned more about the tragic Brontes. Thank you so much and, yes please, more Yorkshire and Bronte visiting. xx

That is so kind, thank you 😊
Very enjoyable! Nice photographic quality. Lovely narration. Many thanks!
Many thanks!😊
What a lovely, unintended tribute to the Brontë sister! Having read Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights numerous times, I feel this video captured the essence of their works’ inspiration and who they were. Such a tragedy that their lives were so sadly cut short. I imagine they would have been so much more prolific as writers. Thanks for sharing these glimpses and insights into your beautiful country and its rich and its rich and layered history.
So glad you enjoyed the tour and thank you for the kind words 😊
Какие прекрасны виды с возвышенности города на долину . А ночной город во время дождя и при свете фонарей вообще фантастика.😀👍👍👍
This was wonderful. Thank you so much. The walking trails, although difficult, looked wild and beautiful.
So pleased we did the walk, it was a real highlight of our trip.
So, so dramatic life stories ! Jane Eyre is a real pearl !
An excellent video as always. Thank you so much.
So nice of you, thank you 😊
Thanks again

Absolutely beautiful views, thankyou for this very interesting, I’ve been to the Brontë house few years ago, but didn’t go elsewhere, I’d love to go again sometime
Thank you Sue, glad we have been able to share it with you. I do hope you head back and see more of the places, they are just so interesting to be in and the scenery! Amazing.
What a sad yet lovely and heartwarming video. Wery well and beautyfull put together, thanks guys.
Our pleasure! Thanks so much for watching.
Great video! Greetings from Canada. My early family 'Strath' settled Long Strath Dale as the result of their efforts in the Wars of the Roses. Such a tragic and talented Bronte family . May they RIP.
It is really enjoyable to hear your narrative with these wonderful places which are full of history early in the Sunday morning in Sydney 😊
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
This was so beautifully put together absolutely perfect. I so enjoyed it and all that this wonderful video had to offer, I felt swept along with you two sweet chaps on the walk that I’d couldn’t do now. Bless you both for sharing this, I enjoyed it tremendously.
Looking forward to the next one. 😊
Thank you again Jay, really kind words and so happy it hit the spot! 😊
Simon and Will, you make such interesting and visually stunning videos, I have followed your channel for ages. I thoroughly enjoy them all. As others have said this video of the Bronte's and Yorkshire countryside is so inspiring! I've wanted to go to Yorkshire for many years and have never got there. After your video, I'm determined to get there, you have such a lovely way of speaking and the visual imagery is amazing. Great camera work! Brilliant all round. The music was magical, very atmospheric. Thank you. 👌😊
Hello Wendy, thank you for your kind words. We are very happy that this is inspiring you to look at planning a trip. It really is a lovely part of the country and I wish we had visited before. It has been on our list for a long time. Thank you for watching and your continued support. 😊
So interesting! Beautiful filming!❤❤👍👍
Many thanks!
You're welcome. ❤
absolutely great documentary man! Thank You! i m an artist illustrator and done an exhibition in the Bronte Museum years ago, one of the high lights of my career i must say!
Well done, enjoyed the tour and you gave so much of the history within your video. Thank you.
Thank you!
You have captured the mood perfectly the music is sublime, perfection
So glad I found this channel 👏👏👏👍
Welcome aboard!
Canadian here. Just came across your content. I love history and your videos are excellent!
Hello welcome! Hope you like them.
Another wonderful, well researched and presented video. I'm enjoying the Yorkshire series a lot, given me plenty of ideas for visits. Haworth is special to me as my wife proposed to me (I was too slow apparently) there, and we are still happily married 16 years later!
Thanks so much, great to hear its given you ideas. You should pop back to Haworth for a romantic weekend!
Hermoso video! Bellamente filmado, respetuoso, interesante, una joya para los que, estando lejos, pudimos sentir "estar ahi".
Lovely channel...Very much enjoyed this episode! Also, your Jane Austen series is a favorite. 😊💛
Thank you so much, glad you liked the videos. Makes us very happy!
Memory seekers thank you so much for this informative video loved every part of it
That is so kind. Thank you!
I really enjoyed watching it amazes me how the Brontë woman walked there in those big dresses etc fabulous
Well done,
Love your wonderful videos❤️
Glad you like them!
So well researched and presented!
Thank you!
