Roger Ebert will be missed very much by those of us who are Chicagoans. It is great to see Studs Terkel in the background here as Ebert talks about Mike Royko. These three great writers are together now talking about Chicago, and they are all relieved to be far away from the Cubs, who continue to torment those of us who are alive. Rest in peace, Roger; you are free from the cancer with the aisle seat at the heavenly movies.

Roger was the reason I became such a movie fan. Thank you for watching with us for 46 years. RIP

'99 was the summer I spent in Chicago, read a whole book of Mike's columns. Great stuff.

I was there!! Harold Washington Library, book release for a book of Mike's columns. Sam Sianis(sp) was there, Ann Landers, Bill Kurtis, Studs, Tim Wiegel, Carol Marin among others. Most of them signed my book that night.

Seeing him after he got sick was really heart breaking it was shocking what happend to him. I could not go on with life after that he had great will to continue on living the best he could. I used to watch his show in the 1980's when I was a late teens and every weekend we would go to the movies. I'm turning 50 in a few weeks and many of my favorite actors are very old or dead now I just don't find the same job I did in movies. I rarely go anymore maybe once a year at most I find myself still watching the movies I loved in the 1980's and 90's. I don't know why I just don't find any of the new movies something I could sit though. The greatest directors I grew up watching are too old to direct anymore the today's youth has such a short attention span movie scenes are nothing more then constant action based on comic books. My advice is if your young don't squander a day of life live out your youth best you can once it's gone it's gone.

This is a great story but it make no sense as to the time of the events. It's New Years day, late? It can't be around midnight, New Years, can it be? Or is is actually January 2nd now, 1 AM or 3? An eye opener joint is a 5 or 7 AM sort of place. In any case why is a hockey game playing .
None of which means a damn thing. It's a great story.
