Been a long time bmw owner but never an M car owner. Finally got myself into a G87 and managed a decent discount. Just over 57k which I think by today’s standards is pretty good value for money when you think an M240 is pushing over 50k.
I seen one of these M2's in this colour blue today, it immediately caught my eye especially as the sun was shining on it, what a stunning colour and car. Couldn't stop looking at it
The allure of a true M car is undeniable but being that I risk speeding tickets anytime I get on it in my G42 M240i I can't image how much worse that would be with 100 more horse power. Coming from an ND MX-5 I thought I wanted more power but I now understand what they say about driving a slow car fast versus a fast car slow. I can't enjoy what my M240i can do without the potential of significant fines and/or loss of license...still love the car though.
For the sheer extra money, it's not a great deal better. I do love the bonnet on the M3 and M4 however, but I've just had my G87 M2 custom tuned to 640 HP and 818 Nm (at the wheels) and the thing is beastly. Even on RWD, it's blisteringly fast.
I’ve had the G80 M3 Comp XDrive and the M3CS I recently bought is worth the premium over that car. The instant you pull away you get a totally different experience from the “standard” M3. The car just has a different intent and you can tell. It’s not so hard core that you can’t daily drive it either. So to ask if this is worth the premium from the M2 - having never driven the 2 - it’s still an easy yes. It really is that good.
There is talk of European enforcable speed limiters being installed in all cars. If that ever becomes a reality, you do wonder what will happen to the market for cars like the M3 CS
Hi Joe, watched loads of your videos and you keep on talking about the Michelin pilot tyres on an M4. Can you tell me which types of pilot tyres they are, please? I’ve got an M4 on order for September so need to know thank you
@JoeAchilles1 I don't do car reviews . Understandable, you only had what was available to you at the time. Just saying that the M2 auto ( gearing, shift times) would've made a better comparison.
5 years ago I bought a 2 year old M4 comp for $35K. That wont even buy you a 430i, nevermind an current M4. Car prices are just rediculious at the minute.
M2 back looks like magatrons face but out all the m cars i believe m3 series are the best and hold their value longer then any other m series when it comes resale and long lasting conditions from previous owners
That M2 seemed a bit slow on the 0-60, maybe would have been a better comparison if auto had been used. No one can argue that the CSL is not a great car but comparing the two in terms of value and performance the M2 would win hands down with £5000 spent on upgrades. Sorry to say Joe, video production is not up to your normal very high standards😢
Oh dear Joe didn't mean to offend. Your other content from Australia was fine. I have followed your channel since the early days with the M135 and all my comments have been constructive, positive and honest. Cheers.
there is only so much you can do with rear wheel drive. i only bother launching mine if my PS4S' are at 140 degrees F or so. even then, they slip. an M2 with a 6 speed is more for the fun aspect of it on the street - not for 0-60 times or competitive track use. he made a good point. while the M3 is objectively a better car in every way, a 6MT M2 is just more fun for every day street driving and you are less likely to end up in jail.
😂 😂 😂 Is it worth it? No! Of course it isn't worth it, but mugs who can't really afford these cars keep buying them. BMW, Audi and Mercedes must be laughing all the way to the bank.
All good. Buy it knowing it’s made in Mexico and BMW saved a bunch of money but still charged you German build money. This attitude is why they get away with it and why Chinese car sales in Au have gone from less than 1% to over 15% in our country. No one seems to care where there car was built.

Should’ve just bought an F80 M3

Sound is a little echoed but great video Joe!
Yea it seems to be mainly joes voice
I was ready to take my headphones to the service 😂
Paul was great. As a fellow Victorian, him poking fun at the state (revenue raising, PC bullshit etc) hits home hard lol.

Nice story bro
@@dash-kt7ufpeople love to lie lmao
@@PeakMotionOfficialthere is absolutely nothing far fetched about a 640hp m2. Very easily and cheaply accomplished actually
Go m2 with csl suspension mods and tune like Imran from Evolve 👌🏻
i put kw v3 on mine and it is a big improvement! arms and joints all still stock
You and Paul present so well together enjoyed it
Great comparison. You can’t beat back to back drives.

Good to see another vid Joe! Keep them coming - always great to watch
Amazing review, Joe please you both need more together 🙏🏼! Paul is a great guy!
Tbh I prefer G87 looks over G80/82
Same and they drive much better
What a super fun video. Paul is a paragon of awesomeness.
You guys make a great pair ! Great Video
Love all the carbon details 👌

Good to see you in the Great Southern Land Joe, great review with Paul 👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🍺🍺👍
I have a 2018 M3CS and previous to that had a manual M2. Not the same comparison as this video but I don't miss the M2 one bit.
Excellent video Joe 👏👏👏👏🫶
Nice video Joe! 🎥 - when’s the X5M one dropping? Keep them coming! Been quiet on here recently mate, hope all is well.
Should've tested an M2 auto.
We tested the press cars we had at the time, quite simple really. Let me know when you film Auto M2 vs M3 CS 👌🏽

I feel like this is old video, I don’t think Joe is back in Australia. Also the echo is weird. Is everything okay Joe?

I still think the RS3 is easily the better daily car over the M2. The AWD grip is the main reason.
Absolute quality guys 🤣🤣🤣
Sound is a bit weird... But otherwise, greet video and great collab!

I love my M2! I wish the one in the video was auto, it would be a bit faster.
Great video
Ngl manual M2 is slow. I was hoping for a 4 seconds at least.
With automatic u can get 3.9s in good conditions, decent for rwd

Hey Joe!
Lets face it the manual is so pout of date in this day and age they should have given you an auto levers and pedals dont belong in a car these days
That M3 looks so chav. I recall the M3 being a good looking machine e.g. E46 and E90/2
Nah, you could buy a grownups car for that money.
For the life of me I thought that was Seth macfarlane 😄
As much as I love it the m2 is just to heavy now
😂 😂 😂 Is it worth it? No! Of course it isn't worth it, but mugs who can't really afford these cars keep buying them. BMW, Audi and Mercedes must be laughing all the way to the bank.
Audio is awful! Still liked the video though.
It’s crazy that the M2 actually makes the M3 look pretty good 🤦♂️
I just can't get over how ugly that M2 is. It looks like a Chinese rip off of an actual M2, constructed from cheap eBay parts.
no
The M2. $130k for a car made in Mexico 🇲🇽. Rich folks won’t even know what they are buying.
The M3 CS is made in Germany.
Why is this relevant? Having spent a lot of time in the new and previous gen 2 series, the new one feels much much better built.

@washout04 the m2 parts was manufactured in Germany but assembled in Mexico.
The Mexico built is at least good as what the Germany builtif not better. Apparently German golf was poor quality than Skoda and Spanish Cupra.
Don’t worry about slow and ugly BMW’s, just buy an Audi
slow?
