You are truly dedicated to your art, without your own emotional biases weighting in the balance of what you deliver as your product. You are really trusthworthy, no wonder why you skyrocketed like this over the course of only a few years. Of course you have an incredible production quality, and the absolute best intros of all YT channels, but you guys, Thomas and James, are truly the heart of what we all truly love about this channel.

It's not beating a dead horse, when it's actually the elephant in the room. The new M5 deserves all the crap it gets IMHO. I honestly don't care how advanced modern chassis/suspension technology has gotten, it doesn't hide the fact that the new M5 is literally the car equivalent of a Battleship. At 5,390 lbs., to put the M5's weight into perspective: - The darn thing weighs 990 lbs more than a 2014 S class, a full-sized flagship luxury saloon. No lie, the outgoing final generation Jaguar XJ weighs literally 1,499 lbs. less than the new M5 and it is also the same segment as the S class. - Depending on configurations, an F-150 even weighs less. Case in point: 2024 Ford F-150 XL Regular Cab 4×2 checks out at 4,021 lbs. (a whole 1,369-lb difference) - BMW's own X5 with the Inline 6 weighs 4,919 lbs. (sDrive40i; RWD) and 4,998 lbs. (xDrive; AWD) respectively and and it's an SUV. - A 2024 Sprinter 3500 weighs 5,798 lbs. and while it does not weigh less than the M5, it's still quite comical that the M5 still weighs around what a Full-sized van weighs. - A Diamond DA62 weighs 3,461 lbs. and that's a freaking jet... It doesn't matter in what way one slices it, the new M5 has become quite THE Lard.

Every day, the automotive world gets worse. I’ve lost all hope in it at this point. Even Mazda basically confirmed recently (very recently) that they won’t bring back the 6 unless “people start buying sedans more”.

I think of an early BMW I owned...and weep. To give you perspective, if you took my 2018 Type R- 3,117 lbs. -and added in a 2002 MR2-S -2,195 lbs- they would weigh no more than just one new M5. And either one would be more rewarding to drive. Slower, yes. But not in a corner. When gearheads cross new BMWs off their wish-lists, that is a fail. When Throttle House makes a video- that is what success looks like. Even when it documents an automotive tragedy. ' But it's so powerful!' Yes- but it has to be just to get it moving. So no sale. There are better ways to spend six figures. Which could be another video...

Finally someone with an objective review. Feels like all other reviewers who reviewed the G90 were paid to say nice things, despite the weight. This is why I love this channel.
This M5 does not suck. This M5 has to stick to rules and regulations (however logical they might be) so the only way to put a V8 in the bonnet they had to add a battery which leads in adding additional weight. The M5 is and was always made for Autobahn drives and not for track days. On the autobahn it will perform very well. Also in the EU it is quite interesting because of reduced costs because of reduced taxation. If you want a performance car for the track chose an M2, M3 or M4.
So if someone doesn't agree to ur opinion it's paid off? Get real dude. Most drivers don't track their car. This car has better interior, significantly faster from a roll, better suspension, better tech, and more. It's the perfect daily driver.

Yea, I have a 2022 m5 comp matte black and a 2025 cayenne gts pebble grey. The m5 comp f90 lci is the best m5 ever made, not too expensive like the RS. The new m5 seems like they making it for other market, not for the performance car market, more like a family sedan with insane speeds, it doesn’t have the M feeling, at least it’s not too expensive for what your getting

I have been watching Throttle House from the days when it was just Thomas, and I do not know if there is a duo like these two out there in all of media. To compare them to Top Gear anymore is to do Throttle House a disservice, they are their own benchmark. They literally could be reviewing a model T and I would tune in to watch because they just have so much fun together, and in a time when everyone is too busy trying to cancel each other or hate on each other, its just so refreshing. I pray you continue doing what you are doing for many years to come.

@@OGSiX33 In countries with heavy emmision tax the M5 being a Plugin hybrid makes it cheaper than any of the alternatives (if there even are alternatives available). The RS6 Performance, and the E63s aren't available in the Netherlands for example)
This was such a great review, the race between the F90 and G90 was such an eye opener. One thing though; I honestly believe that with time, this car will show itself to win the “M5 war” in the context of what manufacturers have to do to keep us happy. It’s a truth we need to settle with ourselves; performance cars are on their way out and this is them trying to keep them alive. Sad but true.
Sure, true. This again basically goes back to the "atleast its there" perspective. And in this case, some might argue that this is too early through the life of the F90 to bring the new one out, including me. But, it is definitely better than BMW entirely killing off the M5 line at F90, that's the last thing everybody wants.

The E28 M5 is my favourite BMW of all time. I hate touch screens in cars, we have all that shit outside of cars already in our daily lives. It's nice to be able to do something and be somewhere where you don't get any of that crap. Just you and the car and the road ahead.

F10 M5 owner here. People criticized the F10 for its weight and lack of V10 when it came out, but the amazing force of the S63 and the dual clutch won people over eventually.
As always you guys nailed it. I do think with this one your intro or some analogy in the video should have alluded to the classic joke where a girl is trying to set a guy up with her friend...when he asks what she looks like, she answers, "She's nice and has a great personality."

Here in Germany, the average M5 driver is a little older and wants to go fast from one business appointment to another on the Autobahn. And they run it as a company car, which makes the new M5 so great for this kind of buyer. Its pretty fast and very stable on the Autobahn, and you get the tax discount for the Plugin Hybrid as a company car (saves you half the tax cost of the old M5). So I actually think they developed a great car for the core target audience.
It's amazing how the original M5 was so coveted and initiated a legacy of highly sought-after models, yet it's easily outclassed today by cars that we don't give a second thought to like the Civic Si or Mazda 3 Turbo, for a fraction of the price (not even factoring inflation)! It says a lot about how our standards and expectations keep climbing without even realizing it, not because we need more functionality from cars but because we always want the same elevated social status from them.
Exactly, it's social status and a constant need to have the coolest car. I remember seeing W205 C classes on the street and dreaming of owning one. Not even a year after owning one myself I was already looking to upgrade. We can't be made happy.

This is 99% of youtube car reviews. This M5 sucks. I don't know who it's for. Maybe just people who have $200K and want the top trim level of the 5.

If you've ever had a bmw with the extended leather package. All that extra leather separates from the dash and creates wrinkles. It's horrible.

@@OGSiX33 In countries with heavy emmision tax the M5 being a Plugin hybrid makes it cheaper than any of the alternatives (if there even are alternatives available). The RS6 Performance, and the E63s aren't available in the Netherlands for example)
Yeah i'd go with the Touring. I think it looks pretty good, and it's super practical.

This was such a great review, the race between the F90 and G90 was such an eye opener.
One thing though; I honestly believe that with time, this car will show itself to win the “M5 war” in the context of what manufacturers have to do to keep us happy. It’s a truth we need to settle with ourselves; performance cars are on their way out and this is them trying to keep them alive. Sad but true.
Sure, true. This again basically goes back to the "atleast its there" perspective. And in this case, some might argue that this is too early through the life of the F90 to bring the new one out, including me. But, it is definitely better than BMW entirely killing off the M5 line at F90, that's the last thing everybody wants.

The E28 M5 is my favourite BMW of all time. I hate touch screens in cars, we have all that shit outside of cars already in our daily lives. It's nice to be able to do something and be somewhere where you don't get any of that crap. Just you and the car and the road ahead.
I loved my e39 too but for a daily driver, a Tesla (no FSD) is still a great buy.

I agree. Also think touch screens are more dangerous than talking on a phone while driving. Especially when most manufacturers are putting all controls into the screen. Very dangerous

Nah, I like what they are doing. As an owner of a BMW x5 45e and an X3M, this car, to me is the best of both worlds.
I cannot convey how much enjoyment I got out of this episode and the joking about the BMW NA complaints dept. I haven't watched throttle house much in my youtube car channel lineup until this year, but episodes like this are why I'm now hooked

Good on you. The previous one seems better than this new gen M5. You got a comparatively better deal in hindsight.
F10 M5 owner here. People criticized the F10 for its weight and lack of V10 when it came out, but the amazing force of the S63 and the dual clutch won people over eventually.
As always you guys nailed it. I do think with this one your intro or some analogy in the video should have alluded to the classic joke where a girl is trying to set a guy up with her friend...when he asks what she looks like, she answers, "She's nice and has a great personality."

Here in Germany, the average M5 driver is a little older and wants to go fast from one business appointment to another on the Autobahn. And they run it as a company car, which makes the new M5 so great for this kind of buyer. Its pretty fast and very stable on the Autobahn, and you get the tax discount for the Plugin Hybrid as a company car (saves you half the tax cost of the old M5). So I actually think they developed a great car for the core target audience.
It's amazing how the original M5 was so coveted and initiated a legacy of highly sought-after models, yet it's easily outclassed today by cars that we don't give a second thought to like the Civic Si or Mazda 3 Turbo, for a fraction of the price (not even factoring inflation)!
It says a lot about how our standards and expectations keep climbing without even realizing it, not because we need more functionality from cars but because we always want the same elevated social status from them.
Exactly, it's social status and a constant need to have the coolest car. I remember seeing W205 C classes on the street and dreaming of owning one. Not even a year after owning one myself I was already looking to upgrade. We can't be made happy.
