Our Dad played his records growing up great memories,Dad after listening shared Lionel Trains and memories of San Francisco and days of Trains in Early. 60's. He's a great singer and made history with his style, one of a kind and pioneer of great memories and music. Thanks for show casing his talent never lost his gift.
I love this piece of history from an amazing performer. The page here does not give the full context but as we can see on the marquee the concert is at the Orleans Hotel, Las Vegas. Mr. Laine played there on November 19-20-21 1999. He was 85! Amazing! His love for his audience and his love of performing for them shines through in all of his performances, but this one is special in that, from what I can find, it was his last full concert. His enthusiasm for his craft and his class and humility are evident in every interview of him I have ever seen, heard or read. His talent is on full display in every note of every recording he made and every concert he gave throughout his brilliant 75 year career. Frankie Laines's lovely spirit and loving heart is evident in the fact that he was married for a total of over 50 years to two women, and both marriages were "Till death do us part". He was married to Nan Grey for 43 years, from June 1950, until her passing in July 1993) and to Marcia Ann Kline from June 1999 until he passed on February 6, 2007 at age 93.
I grew up listening to frankie lane and was told he and jeff chandler were brothers. Jeff had a good voice but frankie was a singer and jeff was more of a soft crooner ...both were great in their careers..
One of the greatest singers of all time...
