Trying to STAY CALM under pressure with multiple distractions | Compton Abbas | R44 helicopter

  • Watch me try and stay calm under pressure, manage multiple distractions and avoid irritating other aviators. This time I take my cousin Dulcie and uncle Nick for a flight to Compton Abbas airfield in the R44 helicopter. After flying myself and Lizi to Salisbury Racecourse I needed some fuel and my family were very excited to have a ride in the helicopter so I decided to combine a sightseeing trip with a fuel stop. It turned out to be a very enjoyable sortie, but it also presented me with several new challenges. I hope you enjoy watching!

I enjoyed the ride around my local cabbage patch Rory. I fly a fixed wing, a Foxbat, with superb visibility, not quite as good as an R44. A friend who flies from Bliss took me for a ride around Purbeck a couple of months ago and the helicopters characteristics felt uncanny at times but was super fun. Like you, I have to pinch myself when I am in the air, such a hard earned privilege. My joy is to take friends and family for a Solent or New Forest flip and see their pleasure writ large across their faces. I fly from a farmstrip near Lymington and Compton is one of my favourite destinations. Sadly, greed caused the closure of Old Sarum that I had as a base for many years, but Goodwood, Sandown and Lee are all within 20 minutes flight time ready to facilitate that $100 cup of coffee 🤣😎

I've been waiting for this one to hit. You've certainly checked all the boxes with this video! From a passenger who was feeling uneasy at first into one that was at ease and genuinely happy to a passenger and one who was just simply enthusiastic and joyful the entire flight. I must say I found it amusing to hear her voice quivering in time with the rotor spinning. Made me smile.
That brings me to a question. Do you have a switch on com to remove passenger headsets to help prevent over saturation during times of need or to help you keep a sterile cockpit? Many fixwings do.
What a pleasure it was to ride along with you on this and all of your flights. Many thanks!
CONGRATULATIONS on the announcement of a Baby coming and also on your channels growth!!!

Thank you David. Yes, there is a button to isolate me and ATC from the rest of the occupants but I don’t often feel the need to use it. Handy to have though! I’m delighted you enjoyed my family trip.

You should have supplied them with a Good camera, that they could take pictures with while flying.

I do encourage that with some passengers but I worry they might get air sick looking down a lense and I mainly just want them to enjoy the experience.

    * You must have an expensive iPhone: " touch of a button and it dispense cappacheno coffee.'
    * I'll have a double Astrazeneca, no variants.
    * Are you aware of the new aviation fuel being developed in the U.S The fuel is lead free, I believe no mods needed to current combustion engines and has FAA endorsement.
*Anyway, keep each other safe, and well, great flight "speedy'.

Sorry - I meant to answer her then forgot and she didn’t remind me. They are a visual trim indicator to help is see at a glance if we are flying in balance or not.
