The insane German Carrier planes

  • During WW2, if certainly the nations confronted each other on the battlefield, they did it with as much relentlessness in their design offices and laboratories to have the most revolutionary weapons which in the 20th century gradually became the most decisive factor . It is towards the end of the conflicts that technological superiority will be most coveted. Although in a critical situation, the Germans will succeed in developing the most advanced weapons of the conflict because it is their last resort to be able to turn the tide of the war in their favor. Although being very advanced, some will be the mark of excess but also of German despair. The project of this video fits perfectly into these ideas as disproportionate as they are crazy. It is a gigantic carrier aircraft proposed by the car manufacturer and engine manufacturer Daimler Benz. Able to carry jet bombers to be able to strike the USA. It was later also entrusted with the function of being able to transport very particular aircraft, human-guided missiles. Just like the Ohkas of their Pacific ally. These projects decline from A to F, it consists of three carrier aircraft, three schnellbombers and two human-guided missiles making it a scary devastating power machine.

Many sites have sensationalized WW2 German wonder weapons beyond reason.
A lot of them were cooked up as Germany's war accelerated downhill and were little more than radical concepts "being tossed at the wall to see what stuck". Many never left the drawing board and for some where metal was indeed cut, they are portrayed by some sites and books as having huge military potential when in reality they should have been considered uncertain experiments rushed out in desperation.
The Daimler Benz projects are a good example.
While DB was indeed wasting its limited engineering resources developing gas turbines which would later be cancelled under RLM wartime rationalization, they had no background in airframe development. Whatever else one might say about these things, it must be assumed it would take years to perfect them, if at all possible.

Indeed, Germany had the best weapons but only on paper for most of these...

Indeed, the Japanese were almost mad but the Germans were certainly patriotic but not at such a level of madness.

"Parasite Bomber" The Sheer Size Of This Plane Is Amazing

It seems very much like the Germans were trying to outsmart the UK & allies with their technical superiority which came at a great financial cost, instead of just churning out a large number of "mid-range" fighters and bombers like USA were doing and overwhelming with numbers.
BTW, I had no problems understanding you, and the fact that you were able to pronounce technical words like dihedral flawlessly in what is not your first language is a great example of your abilities.

Indeed, they have waaaay to much wunderwaffen projects and among the hundred of these, only th Me-262, Me-163 and He-162 could be produced the others not even passing the drawing board stage.
And also, thanks for the kind comment, I do recognize that I have to improve my voice but you are right, people are expecting non English-speaking country citizen to speak even in their own accent.

I am sorry to inform that I find the narrator very difficult to understand, but the video itself is excellent, good work there. I have seen other videos on this topic and this has much greater detail.

Watch some English subtitled foreign language films, such as "Godzilla Minus One" (2023), or it's possible precursor, "Train to Busan" (2016). I've "traveled the world" via English subtitles since primary school.

This is an impressive aircraft, no doubt about it. I can easily imagine it as an outsized cargo aircraft as well as a bomber-carrier.
    1st like.

      @@F-14DTomcat Thank you.
As an aside, I wonder why the Germans didn't consider adapting the Fw-190 for carrier-borne duty? It weighed a lot more than the Bf-109, but not as much as a fully-loaded Ju-87. Plus, the Fw-190 had a radial engine and a much wider landing gear stance (to say nothing of beefier landing gear to begin with.) If you could find out the background of this decision, all the better!
      Again, thanks!

    • @F-14DTomcat
      @F-14DTomcat  10 місяців тому

Honestly, I don't even know why they preferred the Me-109 over the Fw-190 which is superior and a real fighter-bomber.

More absurd fantasies from people who couldn't fuel or man the aircraft they did manage to produce. Logistics and training win wars not flights of fancy and wonder weapons. The Soviet Zveno series was more realistic and had the added advantage of actually seeing useful combat service.

Indeed, we hear a lot about the German technological superiority but, except for the rare project which have seen the light of day the the Me-262 or Me-163. All of these were drawings, so the German technological superiority stayed mostly on papers...
