- In this video, Mark Wallace travels to Andover, KS, to take advantage of his brother's auto shop. Mark and his brother, Mannon, install a Terrafirma spare wheel carrier. Mark walks through all of the projects that they will be tackling while he's in Kansas. Maybe the front-end wheel wobble will finally be fixed. We'll have to wait and see.

Nice video.👍 I realise you have since swapped it out for the large wind fairing, but I noticed that the original wind deflector you had on the roof rack in this video was installed in the wrong position. It should have been installed in the second groove (centre of the first slat), not right at the leading edge. That may have been contributing to your wind noise. I have the same rack with that wind deflector in the correct position and don't have a problem with wind noise.
That could have been it, for sure. A couple of other people pointed out that it was not installed correctly. I hope others learn from my mistakes. 😃
Final thought on this , I finally got swing out carrier complete installed I had to remove carrier use a racket strap to pull corner bumper over to be able to snap right corner in to place and drill hole larger and reinstall carrier , my only gripe was terrafirma instructions suck and not well designed, lr3/4 has same instructions now I can not use the ladder I have on right side due to carrier so I am planning to install a defender ladder on left side in lr3 , I saw a viedo of this but no information on how it will work because I have a front runner roof rack , and I will probably need to drill 2 holes in roof and 2 in body of lr3 I watch lr time drill holes in his body or other options is prospeed rear ladder for above license plate bracket also same viedo that mounted defender ladder to lr3 he also installed on right side the defender lunch box both looks good but I can't afford any mistakes due to drilling into body so I am still searching for more information the ladder on line only 439 vs over a grand if bought at dealer looks identical any way this carrier issue done to be honest it was a very easy installation but my steps was not correct on fitting bumper, if anyone reading this installed rear bumper before drilling hole for carrier
Thanks for the install video. One thing that I was hoping to see and was missing was the installation of the retaining bolt that comes up from the bottom of the bracket, into the swing-arm pivot. How did that go? I don't think there's a ton of space in there to move a wrench or a ratchet. Is it just a slow process with a short angle of action to work with? Thanks again!
That was a bit tricky. We had to unbolt that side of the plastic and pull it out of the clips to get enough clearance to get a wrench in there. But It didn't take more than a few minutes. Tight but not difficult.
@@ShiftyDrifty Thanks very much for the reply. That makes sense. Fortunately, I've managed to sort my repair (driver's side park sensor) by only dropping one side of the plastic fascia.

you can fit the spare underneath if you deflate it- thats what I did- Though the spare tire carrier is cool, though pricey.
Very true! I have seen people do that. I wanted my spare out and ready even if I'm stuck in mud or in a precarious situation. Getting under the truck isn't always a safe option. If I was sticking to the pavement I would have kept it underneath.
I will add another comment, I just attempted to install my terrafirma swing out tire carrier many parts of install was simple to complete but where things go wrong is not knowing the best way to finish the install, what I learn it is best to reinstall plastic bumper first before you drill corner hole for tire carrier, or you will have issues snapping the right corner bumper to the lr3 , I now have a 1/4 gap it won't snap back to the corner, so now I will have take off carrier and try to attach the right corner to my lr3 then , drill the hole much bigger than needed and I need to find a spacer to cover the much bigger cut out , next grip is , what holds the tire carrier from popping out is that round black plate with hole in center for securing the carrier to bumper for me I find the terrafirma instructions suck this is why I say be well detailed in viedos so people like me not to make mistakes, now I need to buy brackets that hold bumper to corner I broke mine by forcing the corner bumper to the bracket nobody has a very well detailed instructions on the terrafirma carrier installation
You should have made a video so LR3 owners know what the issues are. But it’s good to know, hopefully someone will read this comment and avoid the same problem. I wonder if the template for the LR3 and LR4 are the same. I suspect that they are not.

I'm hoping to do another expedition in South America and Africa. But finances have been tight, so I'm delayed at least a year.

Those are just the hubs. No covers. I have some covers, but they don't fit well, so I just left the hubs exposed for now.

Did you relocate the back up camera? Curious if the tire blocks the original pov too much.
I didn't relocate it. The tire blocks about 1/3 of the view. You can't depend on it to know if there's something behind you (like a child or animal).
Does your spare tire obscure your tail lights at all? How much of your rear view camera does it block?
It doesn’t obscure the taillights at all. It does cover a large part of the rear view camera. Maybe 30%. And it blocks the rear collision sensors. I need to see if I can fix that somehow.

Hi , 53mm hole saw is ok?
I think that's the size we used. You may have to adjust a little with a file or a reaming tool. A Dremel comes in handy.
I own a 07 land rover lr3 hse I bought off of copart for 1100. With mechanical I got running with bad transmission now getting rebuilt , plus many upgrades to get back to running better that new condition, one of my upgrades is terrafirma spare tire swing out carrier , nice video but not well detailed on installation on bracket installation or spindle, I feel this was more important that you explaining how to remove rear bumper , broken off plastic snaps , plenty of how to remove wheel flares , bumper removal, nothing on terrafirma rear wheel carrier this is where I would have given you a thumbs down, you could have had the first and possible only video on this installation, but you took short cuts to shorten the video , on other videos on any installations be more detailed its the parts you leave out. Is what's most important, I hate reading instructions I rather watch someone showing how too , in sure you seen LR. TIME videos , and when I install my front runner roof rack I learn about the screws that come with rack is known for breaking of in factory roof on lr3 so I bought #8 bolts before installed my roof rack by the guy who made video o so I would not same fate. For you may not be important but for others can be good luck in future viedos
