The Razor A5 is one awesome kick scooter. It's not just for kids either, the Razor A5 makes an excellent adult kick scooter as well! Are you ready to upgrade to larger wheels, a taller handlebar, and a faster scooter? Well the Razor A5 is the perfect scooter to get you rolling better than ever. This review by Miles from NYCeWheels takes a look at the Razor A5 from an adult perspective and will give you an idea of what its like to ride the Razor as an adult.
I'm an adult who has had this scooter and I loved using this for going places up to two miles away. Fantastic. I've tried trips about ten miles or more (not exactly sure). It's doable, but it lacks in comfort options like suspension so every bump gets to your feet and legs. Along with just scooting fast constantly, I got a headache after a good while. lol A bike with comfort options might be better. But I put it through its paces and it handled it like a boss. Carrying it wasn't a problem either
Thanks. He sort or hinted that this "companion scooter" is better for the kids. But it would have been nice if he said it outright, like you did
How long does it take for you to travel a mile on this thing?
@@sylvial1985 If you take it relatively easy, about 10 minutes. If you work hard, about 6-7 minutes. You can't go too fast on the sidewalk; have to take to the streets for top speed.
I have one of these and it's not that fast. I recommend just buying a smaller scooter instead of this one because it's big!
@@fin_janis not for kid
I'm 6'4" and 250 and love my KickPed. I've been scootin' around Chicago on it for about a month now-a blast.
I have this scooter, the BEST scooter I've ever got! So much better and more good looking than my old one, the color is good, the smooth ride is AMAZING and I used it when I was going from one class to another at my college, or if I wanna get some exercise with fun included
i love how he is riding with sandals on
Makes me think of the hotter summer days ahead. Has been a long cold winter here for us in NYC! Thanks for watching! - Jack
NYCeWheels Just slam on some white socks when the weather is cold.
lol yup
Sometimes, you just have to let those toes ride free - Jack
Yeah that sort of seems like a bad idea.
Glad you liked it! That is as high as it extends, yes. I'm 5' 11", for reference.
-Miles
I purchased one of this scooter from nycewheels! thank you NYcewheels toronto, ontario canada loves you
Hottest spots to ride in New York City: blog.nycewheels.com/kick-scooters-new-york-city/ - Jack
Should be perfect, I'm 5'11" and 170 or so, and I wasn't even close to pushing any of the A5's limits.
-Miles
That was sort of the effect we wanted, funny and laid back. Thanks for watching!
Just bought it after watching this review. I am lovin it!
Congratulations Felix, thank you for watching, and happy riding on your new scooter! Are you local to New York? - Jack
Nice
I've got one too, more fun than walking. So strong for such a light scooter 250 lbs no probs!
Just blue and red (once we're back in stock of the latter), but maybe sometime in the future...
-Miles
I currently own one and I love it.
The sync to the song is great. Nice edit, haha.
Similar design, also inspired by Born to Run, but I actually made these myself with the help of a close friend who is a shoemaker. His company is called Babu Shoes, look it up!
-Miles
I just received the red one but it didn't have a kickstand. I am very excited though. I'm going to ride it in south beach this weekend. Thank you for your review.
Impitch Foty Fibe Only the blue one has a kickstand.
Heh, Miles look like the kind of guy who hangs out at the beach or skatepark, producing videos for skate or surf DVDs. xD
"I'm gonna go for a joyride. >:D" Like a boss.
The tallest scooter we carry is the KickPed in its large size. That seems to work just fine for people of your height.
-Miles
I have one
This was awesome. Looking to get this for my son. Thanks
Hi, great little review (not super detailed, but some good high speed shots!), you seem to really recommend this one, but I'm interested in the Micro White (or Black) as well. Any chance of reviewing the White/Black? Maybe a comparison with the A5? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! The Micro Adult is quite a nice upgrade from the Lux, although offered at a bit higher price point. I'll see if we can post a comparison review on the Lux and micro sometime soon. In the meantime, here's a blog with some great kick scooter articles: kickscooterpro.com/ All the best - Jack
does the rod go up any higher or is that the limit? (also, great video, out of all the ones i've seen, this one is way more genuine and fun than the others. it lists the technical specs as well as gives good examples of how it actually rides. makes it look joyful to ride)
I love this
Do you think it's a good idea to stick on a strip of heat resistant silicone (the oven glove material) on the brake so it doesn't melt shoes when going downhill?
Sounds great, haven't seen that one in action yet. Does it have big beefy wheels like the KickPed?- jack
Hi Michael, thanks for writing in. We do not have trade-ins actually, sorry! Maybe you can sell yours on craigslist? Best of luck to you!

Should I ride my kick scooter on the sidewalk or the bike lane? Is there a law recommendation for that? If this helps, I live in California, USA.
I have one of these scooters and I ride it around on the sidewalks of downtown San Francisco, I see lot of commuters there ride their kick scooters on sidewalks.
I ride mine on the sidewalk as long as you are careful

Hey NYCe wheels, as a fellow new yorker i was wondering if you could give me your opinion on an electric scooter that is good for riding to college?
Hi, good question. We have a few high end electric scooters that would be great if you are looking to invest money in something very high quality. You can view these at the link: www.nycewheels.com/goped-i-ped-electric-scooter.html You should also consider a high powered electric folding bike. It will end up being lighter, faster, and more compact than a scooter, and for around the same price. Here's a link to an excellent electric model called the E-brompton: www.nycewheels.com/brompton-electric-bike.html
Jack
This is quite a well produced video, marketing is under play.
Thanks June, a lot of time and energy goes into making these videos as high quality as possible. Hope you keep in touch - Jack

What's the hardness level of the a5 wheels?
How tall is it (max. Length)? I want one!
What is the total length of the handlebar in this model?
Are those Luna's he is wearing?!?
Would you recommend this one or the A3 for a college student?
I'm a college student and I use the A5 -- love itt
I wouldn't get a car instead
UA-cam thinks I'm a boss? I'll take it.
-Miles
Dear NYCeWheels I live in a pretty rural area and I just got an A5 but I still can ride at the schools and in the neighborhoods sidewalks but do you think I could ride in my yard thay isn't too rough or rocky?
Hi David, you could give it a try but most kick scooters have wheels that are too small to ride over grass or unpacked dirt. The KickPed would be your best bet: www.nycewheels.com/kickped-kick-scooter.html - Jack
can you compare it to a bike speed wise? Honestly do you have to kick a whole lot more to get to the speed of a bike?
David Sarrazin
Impossible to answer that. Bicycles come in all shapes and sizes. How large the tire/wheel is, how thin the tire/wheel is, how light the bike is, how long the chain is, and if it has gear settings or not, all come into play when trying to know how fast a bike goes. Even then, there's still a large range of speeds. You can go extremely slow on a bicycle, or pretty damn fast if you're working at it. A scooter is going to be generally slower than a bike, or at least it's going to be more physical body work to go as fast. Even with great beatings in the scooter wheels, the wheels are tiny compared to an average bicycle wheel. Also, sitting down on a bike seat and slowly pedaling is much more leisurely than standing up and kick pushing. Skateboarding and scootering is typically (in my experience) more tiring than riding a bike.
WHAT IS the best choice for a guy who is 6,4? I don't want to look like the scooter riding hunchbag of Notre Dame.
The Razor A6 has a 25.4 cm wheel; whereas the A5 has a 20 cm wheel.
Which scooter should I get the red or the blue
xootr or razor a5 or micro black scooter?? which ones best for commuting and speed!? and comfort is important too but so is durability so how long it will last without braking!
Of these three the Xootr (or City Kicker) is going to be the fastest. Keep in mind that all of these have harder polyurethane tires which won't handle bumps in the road as well as a scooter like the KickPed which has larger rubber tires: KickPed, NYC's kick scooter Best - Jack
Are those slippers for girls ?
nice Sandles
Is it good for doing tricks tho
I have a question , can I riding a kick scooter on sidewalks in NYC ? I want to buy A5 but I worry where can I ride on it
Hi Kira, it is perfectly legal to ride a kick scooter on sidewalks and foot paths in New York City. Here's a link where you can order online! www.nycewheels.com/razor-a5-scooter.html Best - Jack
Where can I get a pair of those man sandals?
I like you videos
Nice sandals.
Haha, thank you, looking forward to the return of sandal wearing weather! - Jack
My red one didn't come with a kickstand.. is it only on the blue one??
Yes, only the blue model has a kickstand.
I think the newer red ones come with a stand
So, I am considering this or the Fuzion Cityglide. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what would be the better buy. I am looking just to get around campus faster and small commutes if I have to park super far away.
How much is the razor A5
i like that scooter
Holly Hill well it’s trash because I’m a pro rider
I have original one but it dose not have the kick stand, can I trade mine in? I only used it once and its been in my closet. Please my videos, I did a review of my a5
Nice sandals dude! LOL
Recommend this for 280lbs 6ft guy?
Unfortunately not, but you may want to try the Kleefer scooters! We have two models which can be found here: www.nycewheels.com/kick-scooters.html
No
What's the weight limit on these?
The Razor A5 has a max capacity of around 220lbs. Best - Jack
200 pounds
mine wont open when i pull it
How about smoothness or vibrations?
You'll feel a lot of vibrations in this scooter. The the best vibration dampening check out the Micro suspension: ua-cam.com/video/8oyvY_veC-4/v-deo.html
It's bumpy!!
They are the same scooter, just different color schemes. I'm gonna guess you'll top out at 10 mph or so on average.
-Miles
How fast can it go?
10 mph
Hey jack does this scooter go really fast
Where did you buy that
Either Amazon or Target. I bought mine from Target.
Amazon
l have a kick board
lts good😃😃
Just trying to bring in all the priceless sandal demographic, risky move I know.... - Jack
Available in black or dark gray = do want.
The problem with these wheels is they are meant for very smooth surfaces only. Otherwise you will loose your dental fillings
how do you even jump on that thing?!
You don't ;)
I am new.. why not?
No jumping? That's gay
Shaomin Zhang its a commuter scoot. It's not made for tricks. 🙄
He did
my handles are crooked and i just got them...
