    The new KickPed is NYC's brand-new "can't break it" super tough kick scooter.
    The KickPed is made of high tensile steel and can carry up to 300lbs. Tall handlebar for adult safety and comfort. Distributed by Tubemogul.

    Just came back from scooting around my rural neighbourhood in Nova Scotia! I've had my Kickped for 9 months now, and I LOVE IT.

    Used the kickped to travel to work. Great scooter, steady as a rock. From Queens to Manhattan over the 59th st bridge. Speeding down the bridge was both spiritual and frightening. I was stepping on the fender brake so hard I could smell smoke. All in all, it's all about finding the best streets to travel on. Cracks will slow you down, smooth is best. Always travel downhill as much as possible and walk when you need to. If you want to burn a zillion calories, push uphill.

    I went ahead and bought one and I'm very happy with it. Construction is indeed solid as described. The platform has a nice taper in the center for easier kicking even though it's a bit higher off the ground. It's also surprisingly comfortable to carry over your shoulder as shown in the video.
    The ride quality is nice, stable, and smooth (it does pretty well over rougher pavement too). It's a little bit slower than an A5 but a lot safer and way more durable. It's a great scooter.

    The smaller KickPed folds exactly the same as the large. The handlebar is 4 inches shorter, but it still has a strap that will fit over the rear fender, and allow you to carry it over your shoulder. All the best- Jack

    I got one so I can ride with my daughter while she rides her razor scooter. This things is super well made. All of the welds are very nice, even the welds underneath the deck where you can't see them unless you turn it over. It's a very well made scooter and I have no regrets about choosing it.

    @SteVeYG215 We went for steel over aluminum because it absorbs vibrations and bumps so it makes for a more comfortable ride. This scooter is rated at 300lbs capacity and we have had 0 issues with the deck despite selling over more than any other scooter this year. -Peter

    The KickPed will be as quiet as any Kick Scooter out there. It's built to handle bumps in the road better than the Xootr Mg, its frame is very durable, and it has thick rubber tires that should make for a smoother ride. - jack

    @nycewheels  13 років тому

    @Trund27 No problem. You're exactly right about the wheel size and material. The soft rubber and 6" diameter make the KickPed a much smoother ride. Let me know if you have more questions. -Peter

    The KickPed has extremely sturdy rubber wheels so you shouldn't have to worry about wearing them out. Another option is the City Kicker, which has a hand brake that you can use in addition to the foot brake, taking some of the pressure off of the wheel. Best- Jack

    The design of the KickPed used the know ped as a starting point, so they do have many of the same features. Based on customer responses to the know ped and other similar Kick Scooters, we added a taller handlebar, narrowed the deck, and removed the front brake. - jack

    I just ordered mine yesterday and I cannot wait!! I am a full time landscape oil painter and at this moment I am a full time Art Festival artist here in Tampa Florida. I cannot wait to not have to walk over a mile to get my van when the show is over. Or walk to my booth that far every morning. I am a BIG guy at 265 pounds and almost 6`3 I plan on using this for years to come and hopefully shed a few pounds!! It just looks perfect!

    Here in New York adult kick scooters are becoming more and more popular. Even a few years ago the sight of a older person riding on a scooter might have turned a few heads, but now they've a very common sight. There's certainly no questioning their usefulness. With a kick scooter you can cut your commute time in half, it's easy on the knees, and also great for multi-modal commutes that require subway and bus transfers. Thanks for watching! - Jack

  • @nycewheels

    Sure, we actually have a guy who's traveling all over the country doing nearly 40 miles a day with a heavy back pack! Thing is, the warranty doesn't cover wear/tear on the wheels so you'd look at having to replace those on occasion. No sweat though, they're only about $35 or so. -Peter

  • @nycewheels
    @nycewheels  12 років тому

    @moto815 All you have to do is turn the handlebar while you are coasting along. You can kick or not kick when you are turning. Basically one foot stays on the scooter and the other kicks along. -Peter

    Guys if you order this scooter prop it upside down and check the spin time of both wheels. I found the spin time of my back wheel was significantly shorter than the front one. Loosened the nut a bit with some pliers and it improved dramatically. Also, dampen a paper towel with something like alcohol and jam it in between the back wheel and the steel frame. Give it a few good spins, that should clean out any dirt or gunk trapped in there.

  • @nycewheels
    @nycewheels  11 років тому

    The KickPed has thick rubber tires with beefy tread so it's going to glide over bumpy terrains super smooth, but won't be as fast as some of our other kick scooters like the city kicker - jack

    If you're looking for good performance on rough asphault and cracked side walks the KickPed is definitely your best option. I would say the ride is slightly less smooth than a long board, mostly because it doesn't have the 4 wheels, but much smoother than a polyurethane tire scooter like the Xootr. Best- jack

    I used to use a K2 Kickboard. JUST got a K2 Revo for casual use on the weekends...First I drive there then I scoot....hating California right now. I live in a city where driving makes more sense. I wished I lived in a place like NYC where a scooter can take you to interesting places. I would definitely get the KickPed, that's one beefy ride.

  • @nycewheels
    @nycewheels  13 років тому

    @Trund27 Well they are very similar, the large size KickPed will have a taller handlebar, a thinner deck, and no front brake. I think the KickPed may be a bit better because the thin deck forces you to keep your feet over the center of balance, making your more stable at speed. -Peter

    @funkyastronauts We get a lot of excited comments from visitors from Europe who are amazed that so many people ride kick scooters here. I'm honestly shocked they aren't more wide spread. For $50 - $100 you're still going to get something more of a toy or a kids kick scooter. I think it's worth saving up and getting something like the KickPed that will last many many years. Good luck and regardless of what you buy: get out there and have fun with it. -Peter

  • @nycewheels
    @nycewheels  13 років тому

    @CelticDragon026 We designed the KickPed with two handlebar choices. With the tall handlebar the KickPed is the most comfortable scooter for tall people I've seen. I'm 6'2" and riding scooter with the taller bar in the movie. I know what you mean about leaning over, I hate that! :) -Peter

  • @nycewheels
    @nycewheels  13 років тому

    @thegenrl This scooter is similar to some other kick scooters offered by Goped but it has some dramatic differences. Mainly it is stripped down to bare essentials and has a thinner deck to allow easier kicking. Also, there are two handlebar options, making it customizable to you. - Peter

  • @nycewheels

    That's right, the large rubber tires on the KickPed will make rides smoother but also a little slower than the City Kicker which has thin faster polyurethane tires. - jack

    @utubeworms Sold quit a few already and have not had any problems with those. They seem simple but the lack of many little moving parts actually makes it pretty reliable. GoPed has been using this handle post for almost 30 years on all their scooters. -Bert

  • @nycewheels
    @nycewheels  13 років тому

    @djYuz The KickPed is overall much more durable than a Razor A5. Not only will the fender brake hold up longer, the whole scooter will last you longer.

  • @nycewheels

    The issue is that goped wheels use 1/2" i.d. bearings for their massive steel axles. not your typical skate/scooter part. So yes, you could technically swap them out, but you wont really get anything much better than they provide from the factory..

  • @nycewheels
    @nycewheels  12 років тому

    @nycewheels very cool. my big problem is the vibration up through the handlebars that I have felt with the Razor. It kills my hands and wrists. I think it may be the small, plastic wheels; that's why the KickPed's fat little rubber tires look good to me

    The kickped is better than the Xootr in about every way, imo. I have done tests comparing the two and the Kickped rolls faster on real life type pavement than the Xootr, and it even rolls just as far if not further. Maybe I'll do a video of one of these tests and post it so you can see it and believe it? Plus you enjoy the ride on the Kickped, not needing to watch every inch of the pavement for a crack. Best scooter ever...

    yes exactly what I was looking out for. You can certainly slam into someone, if not the barricade, at that turn. Slow is safe. Other than that this thing, like the Goped, is a beast on the pavement and can easily go over things that would send other scooter riders flying. One question, is there ever a need to oil the bearings from time to time?

    I ended up getting a xootr MG, but regret it and am selling it on craigslist. It's fast but that's all. It's way to noisy and annoying to constantly deal with the pin mechanism.
    Is the kickped quiet? I assume it is, but I was surprised at how loud the MG is, especially every time you hit even a small crack or bump (which means constantly), and it's even SUPER loud if you're walking it and your weight isn't on it. I'd get a kickped if it's quiet. Is it?
