    I've never worked with micas or oxides, but my art experience is telling me to add a small bit of yellow or neon green to make a more true dark green. I do not know if this is possible with oxides.

      @skyydancer67 4 роки тому +17

      That makes sense.

    • @RedhairedBallerina
      @RedhairedBallerina 4 роки тому +54

      That was my thinking too. I mean, I do it with eyeshadows, and that's mica powder, so it should be possible...🤔

    • @skyydancer67
      @skyydancer67 4 роки тому +43

      @@RedhairedBallerina The only wild card that should be kept in mind is that this is cold processed soaps. You'd have to use reliable soap-stable mica/oxides that can withstand the changes that happen in this type soap and you'd have to take your own soap recipe into consideration as well. Other than that, I agree with you both.

      I was thinking the same thing. Yellow oxide if there is such a thing and the most green bright blue... and add black oxide as needed. Hmmm... wonder if there is some extra blue hiding in that black oxide? Blacks can be really different....

    You said u love a good challenge sooo, you should cut the slabs into bars first THEN pipe the Brussel sprouts onto the individual already cut bars. That way you get those beautifully beveled edges instead of brussel sprout/ flowers that are cut into. I think is would be a test of patience and speed.

My mother is from Pittsburgh, but I’m Irish so shame on me for not knowing this) so the banter between you and Kenny, the combined giggling and the MASSIVE personality that other soap channels lack. We had come to the conclusion (with a bit of research) that anything with seeds is considered a fruit and that what was a vegetable was arbitrarily defined by chefs and if they had leaves. We didn't think that there could be fruits or veggies that could be considered both!

    When I first read Brussel Sprout Soap I got nervous because Brussel sprouts usually smell like farts.🤢. However, the soap is gorgeous and the use of the green tea fragrance makes me even more excited about this soap!😃

    • @mossattacks9191

      Ya gotta season and roast them to get rid of the fart smell FYI. Any time I’ve steamed them or quickly baked in the oven my house smells awful, but sprinkling them w olive oil, garlic and onion power, paprika, and chili powder and then baking them until brown and crispy makes them smell good

They boiled them with other vegetables to make vegetable soup and they were ashy green, soaked, almost slimy textured and smelled bad. Yuck. Just a few years ago i tried to make them differently. Cut them in half and breafly prepare them on pan with a bit of butter, about 5 minutes each side. Then i just add a bit of salt and perhaps more butter. They remain their crunchiness and freshnes. My friend once told me “hey, I was cautious because they looked suspiciously healthy. But they are delicious!”

    I feel like you should try the Russian Piping Tip to make embeds! I can just envision frustration with a whole slab and it might be harder to scrape off and fix without creating a disaster. But embeds?? The brussels sprouts were so freaking adorable, I'm so glad you channeled this inspiration and reinterpreted it in soap. That tip would make a lovely dark purple and white stripey flower, I imagine!

      Ditto. I'm not a big fan of the high tops because they look too large & awkward to use properly. They're gorgeous but don't make sense in my brain. I love this top! It's different but doesn't make the soap too big to handle without cutting.
