This is a Godsend, don't ever delete this video lol. I just bought an '11 Cayenne Turbo w/ 108k mi, hoping to make sure this never happens
thanks!!
I wanted to thank you guys for this series of videos. Made the process nice and easy. Did my first one yesterday, I’m sure I’ll see more of these. 🎉
Did you have to program it to the car? This doesn't look very difficult at all and would save me a couple thousand $$$.
@ I don’t believe so. I don’t remember if there was a transfer box oil reset to do or not. Definitely the hardest part was splitting the two halves of the case.
Porsche here in Canada honors 10 year extended warranty, my 2014 Cayenne S is getting a brand new transfer case, it isn't a recall, extended warranty. I was about to slaughter mine after watching your videos, but thought I'd call the dealer first.
There is one of these for sale for $800 with transfer vase issues, easy job to remove and rebuild? Used one is pretty cheap, so the vent mod didn't do the fix 🤔
Do you have any videos of a complete teardown and of a, porsche cayenne transmission?
Found one of these for $800 with transfer case issues.... Worth?
My 04 s does this but it is also stuck in 4 hi any thoughts
You guys need to offer this as a service...for realz...
have considered it, but junkyards want a lot of cash even for broken transfer cases! so it would be hard to efficiently do refurbishments
Great video! Is there any way to seal the vent so water doesn't get into the transfer case?
you can't seal the vent because the oil and air inside the case need a way to expand and contract with temperature. The vent update does route the vent line all the way up to the engine bay though, which ensure no water can enter through the vent
Perfect. Thank you for this.
glad it was useful for you!
I have had to replace the transfer case twice in first 27K miles on my 2015 Macan S. First time Porsche reimbursed me $3,000 for the repair when they extended the warranty on this part to 7 years due to so many problems with their transfer cases. 2nd transfer case I will need to pay for because I am 6 weeks past the 7 year warranty. Seems many owners are starting to replace for 2nd time. Porsche should be recalling the Macans for this issue. Very disappointed with Porsche for not taking ownership of their faulty transfer cases.
Where did you get the new spare parts?
awd.tech
in usa tcbmwx5 inc
You know Porsche just extended the warranty to 10yrs. On the 958 models.
yup I actually just got mine done! but the repair I did in this video was still holding up great. I assume lots of people will miss the warranty window since it is just a few months remaining for 2011 models
@@SpectroRacingChannel Do I have to have symptoms for them to replace the transfer case, my 2011 Turbo warranty expires May 2021
Will Porsche replace the drive shaft as well? Or its onky the transfer case alone?
What about 2012
my is 2016 and its 2024 can i get a new one ?too.late?
How did you get that godamn shaft out of transfer case !!!!???? Im fighting with mine and is not coming out
dude, getting it to decouple is a HUGE pain. You pretty much have to have the car on a lift just so you can use a pry bar long enough. There is a little landing on the aluminum for leaning the pry bar against. You need like a 4-5 foot long pry bar though. It's insane. Also maybe consider some ratchet strap or chain fall creativity. It is NOT easy
@@SpectroRacingChannel thanks for your answer man, I’ll put the car on the lift next week, it s impossible otherwise, I spent 2 hrs under the car fighting and swearing at everything around ahaha!
Is this DIY Dan?
I'm not familiar with Dan; this is DIY Ash
@@SpectroRacingChannel lol well forgive my rudeness Ash and thanks for the videos I've converted recently from a Chevy man to a Porsche guy!
welcome to das dark side...I had a suburban before I bought my first cayenne. The suburban was certainly less maintenance but it was terrible to drive. Thanks for watching and I hope these are helpful!
Porsche doesn't stand behind the quality of their vehicles. The transfer case on my 2015 Macan S has failed twice now in only 27,000 miles. This is a known issue which caused Porsche to extend their warranty to 7 ys. Their "improved" transfer case lasted only 2 years 2 months and 9,000 miles. I am out of warranty by 6 weeks and Porsche turns their back on problem and sticks me for $3,200 repair. Don't buy a Porsche w/o extended warranty for entire length of time you expect to own it. #1 rated warranty company - Endurance - won't even sell coverage on Macan. That should tell Porsche and all potential buyers something. Customer experience is far from an expected premium car brand experience.
for what it's worth, the improved case on my 2011 cayenne has been good so far and the rebuild as demonstrated in these videos wasn't difficult at all. It's only a $3000+ repair because it's at the dealership. Indy shops will hopefully catch on and start doing these rebuilds for much cheaper. It was only about $400 in parts.
pahahahahaha
was a cheap and easy fix! I have put about 18k miles on it since the repair. e z
good. would have hated to hear procurement of another porsche or bmw was necessary ensure ready transportation for spousal-like units. lol
