    Another good thing about any Porsche is that if you take good care of it, it can last almost forever. I have a Cayenne Turbo that I bought in 2003. The engine still works fine after 160,000 miles. And after replacing some plastic parts on the body, it looks almost looks like a new car.

      How much do you pay to maintain it annually?

    • @jim90272
      @jim90272 Рік тому +4

      @@Illiterate243 It is not cheap to maintain. I probably spend about $2000 per year. If you buy a used cayenne, the biggest thing to check is the transmission, because the transmission isn't easily repaired, and replacing it is really expensive. And of course, be ready to buy a lot of gas, because it only gets around 10 miles/gallon.

    Lovely car. I have a Panamera which has the same engine and when I got it I discovered that some of the plastic coolant fittings under the inlet manifold were cracked and very slowly leaking and there was a small pool of coolant in the V of the engine. This is something for a potential buyers to look out for on the 3.0L TDI. I love working on my cars and I fixed it myself during the first lockdown, but it took me about six hours and I decided to replace the oil cooler as well which added to the price. I replaced the water pump whilst I was in there and cleaned out the inlet manifold as these DFI engines do get gunked up on the inlet side. I get 50 miles to the gallon from my Panamera on long motorway journeys. I’m delighted with my Panamera. Your Cayenne looks like a lovely car as well!

    I have a 2016 Cayenne diesel and before that, a BMW X5 diesel. I love my Cayenne and have to agree with this video describing how much fun it is to drive. The seats are fantastic! Yes, get the air suspension if possible. It will then go from a terrific highway cruiser to the best handling SUV there is. The X5 was OK but was disappointed by the build quality and reliability. One thing you have to remember about the diesels is that if you drive around town most of the time, every once in a while you must get out on the open road an cruise for about 50 miles to burn out (clean) the particulate filter. If you don’t, the check engine light will probably come on.

    Bought mine (2011 3.6 V6 958) a year and half ago and here's how much it cost me:
    1: Replacing 4 tire sensor -- 2300$ (covered by warranty)
    2: Fixing coolant leak -- 600$
    3: Replacing right side mirror motor -- 570$ (covered by warranty)
    4: A new set of tire -- 1400$
    5: Aux coolant pump replacement --1350$ (covered by warranty w/ 200$ deductible )
    6: Replacing battery -- 270$ (Did it myself or otherwise around 700$ at dealer)
    7: BreakFluid flush -- 120$ (Did it myself or otherwise 1300$)
    8: Air filter + Oil/Filter change -- 150$ (Around 600$+ at dealer)
    9: Transfer Case fluid flush -- 40$ (Not sure how much dealer charge for this)
    10: Wiper replacement -- 40$ (Probably about 150$ at dealer -- not entirely sure)
    11. SparkPlugs @14$ each and ignition coil @35$ each -- 300$ including tax and shipping..
    Very satisfied with this car and it is quite reliable. But its probably good idea to get extended warranty if possible and prepare to do bunch of simple preventative maintenance yourself.

Which one do you prefer can you please inform me🙏🏻 (live in France)

    • @youtubeDaddy525
      @youtubeDaddy525 3 роки тому +2

      @@premium2554 You might want to check with your dealer when purchasing the car. Many dealer offers extended warranty for certified preowned porsches. Mine cost around 3k USD and it offers coverage for engine + trans. The warranty is offered by a third part though, not from dealer or Porsche factory. I'm not sure how's it in France but I'd definitely suggest you to check with dealer. As for how it works, here in US, you'd take the car to dealer for repairs and the dealer will contact the warranty provider to cover the cost of repair. You'd only pay for deductible + anything that is not covered. Hope this helps !

    I appreciate your honesty and candor. I've owned a 2015 EHybrid Cayenne and I have absolutely no complaints. Porsche's aren't for everyone. If you have champagne taste but only a Coca Cola budget, you will complain about fuel costs. It's an SUV for goodness sakes, not a sedan. It will take more fuel! My EHybrid actually allowed me to switch usage both electric and gas. On those long trips, it was definitely a positive factor. The speed, power, handling, superior performance and comfort were more than worth it. Sadly, its time for an upgrade and I just sold the vehicle. Yes, I'm ready for a full electric vehicle....Not Tesla, not Audi or any of the other upstarts. I'm waiting for the all electric Porsche Cayenne and my expectations for superior performance are high! I know they will deliver.

    Great video, I hope more people realize what hidden gems these beasts are. I had a 2013 Mini Cooper before buying my Cayenne, and I noticed that the services were going to cost about the same at an independent shop but with the Porsche having much better reliability. Millage is only a little worse, which was a pleasant surprise (22mps vs 27mpg averages according to both cars on board computers). You're so right about the air suspension also, its such a pleasant experience and it isn't tiresome to drive.
    I don't have interior squeaks or rattles, but the last owner really didn't take very good care of it, and the leather is dried up and peeling in some places. I'm hoping the leather products from the Chemical Guys can work some life back into it. That is really the only issues I've had with it, the last owners neglected a lot of things.
    I did the spark plugs and coils myself, and it reinvigorated the engine and improved the fuel millage.

  • @healingenso7923

    Nice video. I'm coming up on 60yo and early retirement and my Jaguar F-Type S does not tow anything and the Cayenne seems surprisingly competent. It looks like one of the smallest SUV's to tow 7,000+ and I travel alone, so I don't need the normal full sized SUV. Fuel economy is better than my Jaguar (the way I drive anyway). I know how it is to pull up at lights and have someone bellow from 2 lanes over "HEY DUDE, NICE CAR !" and then try to hold a conversation as the lights go to green.
    As I live in Arizona, there are lots of times off roading of some degree is fun and I've been surprised that the Cayenne does that well, too. Just had my F-Type's annual (minor) service and needed tracking doing too - 575GBP. I think it's fair to say, if you haven't got a porsche, Jaguar, Mercedes etc. yet, expect everything to be expensive.
    But all in all, I'm encourage by what's been discussed in this video - may well go ahead and trade for the Porsche.

And now when I have decided to move again you're covering exactly the car I have chosen too . And it's not that I have been disappointed in MB E - class . Almost the opposite of that, E class has earned so much respect ( here in Norway) that prices for used cars are over the roof . With that price tag.... The Cayenne 958 is indeed a very nice car, I sold my CTT in January, very reliable and I can relate with everything said in this video, except of course the power of the Turbo version, it is extremely fast! Why did I sell it? Well I guess I was just never excited about the car, mine was white with beautiful natural brown leather and walnut mix interior, it just didn't give me a buzz, perhaps the underwhelming sound of the car as compared to a GTS, or perhaps it was the light feel of the steering, everything about the car was soft, easy and delicate.
    The chrome on the window buttons started breaking, the lovely stitched leather on the dash started shrinking back, I heard this was a common problem with these cars in hot climates, but mechanically and all it was driving perfectly with everything working, except the adaptive cruise control that had a mind of its own.
    I had an 07 C2S and I guess I was looking for a daily driver/family car/performance car in one after I sold the Carrera, but the CTT just didn't quite do it for me, you know that car that makes you offer to do the errands, I mean all the time? That car that you just want to drive and keep driving, this wasn't it.
    I found that in a very strange place as I picked up a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 for half the price, shocking! The good news is I should be welcoming a 997, a Coupe this time any moment from now, (just have to have a Porsche in my life) with the cayenne, horses for courses I guess....

    with your start stop issue, you may need to replace the battery and/or have it reprogrammed. The vehicle likely has one of those "intelegent" charging systems that only charges the battery when necessary, but if the battery is on it's way out, or it doesn't understand the "true" state of charge than it can cause the issue you've described.

    Look out for oil leaks. We had the exact same car and year. Porsche quoted us over 5K for an engine out but its seldom required. local former Porsche technician who runs an indy garage told us it was a couple of rods in the engine block which had not had enough sealant put on when built. Half a day and £300. Job done. Oil leak vanished and part exchanged with Porsche for a 2017 plate with the 262 brake. Huge difference.

    Great video on the Cayenne. I'm curious if you wish you wouldn't have gotten the diesel for performance? I was lucky to find a well cared for 2010 Cayenne GTS with PDCC and the air suspension. You are correct about the air susp and how great it is! I bought my Cayenne for $8,800 plus some shipping. It had over 200k miles on it with the V8. I'm at 217,000k and it still drives and pulls like it's broken in but it is my daily so I do take it easy. And the Sport mode and Exhaust is awesome! I have a couple Mustangs in my neighborhood and it's fun to drive by and wave!

    I have a 2014 GTS, fantastic car. Not faultless, I have Porsche Warranty and I wouldn't own it without it. I wouldn't worry about 35mpg Mr Tpn TV. I get 12mpg, all day, every day. Thats a lot of 98 octane! I feel like the sound from the NA4.8 litre V8 is worth the fuel dump!

    I have a 981 Cayman, I think its a battery issue, my auto start stop doesn't work (but that's fine honestly because I hate auto start stop) the alternator over charges the battery sometimes to 14.9 V when I'm driving and the battery gets drained quickly when the car idles for about 10 mins and I have to start it again for it to charge. When I run the battery nearly flat where the car turns itself off I get an IPC code U0155 but it goes away after I run the car for a little. All symptoms of a battery that need to be replaced soon. No hard cranks at all though.

    • @smartcatcollarproject5699
      @smartcatcollarproject5699 2 роки тому

      Sometimes you need to replace the battery on new cars, and chose a battery with more capacity/Amperes of the same size (in one case I could even fit a larger sized battery !). I have seen this issue with a Hyundai Santa Fe, Citroen Berlingo, and BMW X3. Hyundai and BMW would not start after a few days or weeks without driving, and Citroen would not start if I had to stop/start too often (I had to wait 10 minutes, then it would start, without charging). In all these cases the issues were solved with a battery of higher capacity than the original model.

    I have a GTS, best car I have ever owned. I have had Mercs, Jags, BMW's the list goes on. That's said in your video you said the Cayenne is Porsches best seller. That may be the case in the UK but my local PCar dealer here in North America says it's the Macan. Basically because it's cheaper. I test drove a Macan Turbo before I bought my Cayenne. Still bought the Cayenne GTS.

  • @evgeniy5966

    Your mileage is impressive!
    I just want to tell my fellow Americans that, here in US, our gallon is 3.8 Liters, compared to the British gallon of 4.5 Liters. Meaning that 1 British gallon is basically 1.2 US gallons. That is why, to us in US, 50mpg sounds out of this world for such a heavy SUV.
    Here in US, we can possibly reach mid or high 30s MPG, which is still amazing!
    There are not too many diesel Cayennes here left, due to Dieselgate. And the diesel sales before Dieselgate lagged far behind those of the gasoline counterparts.
    I myself can’t wait to get into Cayenne. I had X5 3.5 and it was a good car. Then I drove my friend’s 2013 Cayenne S with 4.8 V8 and it was a beast! Needles to say, I fell in love with it. Now, since 2015, Cayenne S comes with 3.6L twin turbo, which is actually a bit faster and more economical than older V8 model, but does not feel “the same” as a true naturally-aspirated V8. Hence, I am shopping for 2012-2014 Cayenne S V8.

    Doesn't sound like long list of drawbacks when it comes to maintenance. I could maybe live with the fuel costs especially given now in post-covid world where I won't be daily driving it to work 5 days a week every week. I'm also on the same boat I've made up my mind on getting the Cayenne S (trading up from a BMW 4 series coupe) . Thanks for the review mate - I feel better about having made up my mind :)

    With any stop start problem it usually is down to an old battery. A lot of V/W parts fit and are exactly the same part minus the porsche sticker. Having owed an Audi I can confirm their parts prices are on a level with a Porsche

    How to permanently shut down the start / stop system?
    I have a button for that but it needs to be pressed every time the car starts :-(
    HOW to turn it off permanently .. this is an extra option on a car that DOES NOT WORK AS IT SHOULD!
    So it can be turned off with software or a resistor ... or the button can simply be shorted?
    Auto start / stop shuts off automatically if it is cold and the battery does not have enough voltage

  • @nickpain8596

    The start stop function depends on the battery health! If it fails and it's slow to crank you may need a new battery! You wont necessarily get a fault message for this issue. Battery is £250 plus an hours labour for fitting at non porsche specialist.

    • @mihalym.6876
      @mihalym.6876 3 роки тому

      Do not forget to code the new battery to the car. Without coding the battery will be depleted within 2 month and the situation will be the same regarding the start-stop. I did this mistake, learnt from it. Time to time it is worth to regenerate the battery with a charger capable of desulphating. Because of the 15.5V pulse charge I recommend to disconnect the battery ground cable and charge the battery directly via the positive charging pole of the car and the negative battery pole. If the batery was deep charged - two weeks sitting on an airport - than this regeneration is mandatory. Pay attention how frequently the start stop is in use and what durations. If you drive short distances and have a lot of traffic light with 1 minute or more red light than the system is not able to charge the battery back to the normal level. In this case a normal charging is necessary via the cars charging poles.
