I just wanted to say I'm a big fan with the original and grew up watching all the Patrick Swayze films. Hands dwn the classic will always be my favorite and til this day I still watch the film. The New Road House film was good as well but could never replace the original. Over all both films are good but the Swayze version will always be on top.
It was a good movie, but I definitely agree about some of the fight scenes looking a little off due to the excess cgi/artificial speeding up. My biggest complaint about the new one was that they relied too much on cgi instead of using more practical effects to sell some of the scenes. I also loved McGregor's character, he added some fun chaotic energy to the movie.
I watch the original every time I run across it channel surfing and always watch the entire movie or what's left of it. I watched the 2024 version tonight and wasn't impressed. It doesn't hold a candle to the original IMO.
similar on all accounts. i think having grown up on the old one it's tough for us to really love the new one, though i did enjoy it as a stand alone. the ending of the original is what really stomped the new one i thought.
This is a comparison between the new 2024 Road House and the 1989 classic including character mapping and comparison as well!

appreciate the comment and went through this same though process with the point break movie, coincidentally another swayze classic!

same! if the fight scenes were a little more real, they would've been really good and yeah, the irish nutjob was awesome in it!

McGregor was a total creeper in this film.
😂
Mcgregors acting was ridiculously bad. Not even in a humorous way
far from oscar material, but his character added more interest to me than the villain in th original.
