I have owned 3 Harley Davidson in my lifetime. An 80ci. 96ci, 103ci with gear cams, and now a 107 Milwaukee 8. Truth be told a Harley Davidson is good right out the dealership. I believe and know that if you change your oil in all three holes on the regular you will not run a motor out with you just twisting the throttle to get more speed and power if you need it. My 96ci & 103 both had gear cams installed and I bought them new, when I sold each one they had over 139k miles on them with no engine or transmission work, just a clutch pack. You don't need to spend a mint on a crate motor and unneeded upgrades to ride a motorcycle around. Aside from brake pads, tires, cables, and spark plugs now and then your Harley is good stock. Regular oil changes are the key to any internal combustion engines longevity so save your money on upgrades and motor work.
I have a 2020 Ultra Limited and I had put 5000 miles on my bike when I had the 131” kit put on mine here by Bert’s Barracuda Harley-Davidson here in Pinellas Park, FL. I rode it for a few weeks before taking it to Bert’s Black Widow Harley-Davidson in Port Charlotte, FL for a Dyno. I by the way left it stock-ish by using the Harley-Davidson tunes for the Big Bore Kit, anyway It peaked at 4400 RPM as that is where it hit 110 MPH. At 110 MPH it was putting out 121.5 HP and 140 ft lbs torque. A couple weeks later it started to act up, I limped it home in the middle of the night beach ride, and didn’t want to risk any further damage if it was damaging it. Next day I rode it over to the shop and it was riding fine, I was told it may have been an electrical issue and to keep riding it. I parked it for a week, then on July 1st was casually riding to work (70MPH) and it shut down on me. I got it to the shop next day and the rear cylinder had seized up causing damage to the rear jug & piston. It is still at Bert’s Barracuda Harley-Davidson waiting on Harley to send my parts... BTW, I only had 700 miles on the 131” when it seized up and it was 1/4 qt low on oil... I am hoping to get back on her again soon, the sad part is, that I never got to open it up and see what she could do! The ones that did were the Mechanic that installed the kit, the General Manager, & the Dyno Operator... I have been riding it and I have another 1,100 miles on the second break in and I have really been babying it this time for the 1st 600 miles. So Far So Good!
Dude in my over 50 years of riding I had a golf ball, a pick up truck bed liner, birds, bolts and rocks fly at me and thankfully my helmet was on!! That’s what a helmet does.
@@MyTrucker619 But you show on this video you haven't. Guess your brain and being healthy is worth rolling the dice with? Are your loved ones on board as well?
Wow. His choice to wear or not wear a helmet,as long as hes within legal limits,i choose to wear mine but never give shit to those that dont. Their head, their choice
Take note to what he mentioned. No joke, this engine is for experienced riders. It is a beast of a motor and the power needs to be respected. If you are a beginner or novice, get some more miles/experience under your belt before upgrading.
you can get a 124 for a 107 or a 128 for 114 Big bore kit and have bigger numbers than the 131 for half the price. It'll be a cool engine when it comes stock but $6k+ just for the engine + install and all the parts that go with it is insane
My sons helmet saved his life a few weeks ago when he wrecked and got airlifted to hospital. I'd never ride without one now. Just saying. Love the video tho. Ride safe out there.
$37K... 😲... 2 words...Indian Challenger 😎 I’d keep a lot of change... Enough for some cosmetics, Sound System and Lloyd’s Engine Upgrades... Good Luck with that 131 guys.
One can't compare a liquid cooled over head cam offset wedge to a traditional harley. If you want to compare Indian to a harley apples too apples use a v-rod. Otherwise physics makes the two incomparable. Harley tried selling big power in a bike and consumer wanted traditional.
Nice video Sir, but where's your helmet???? Lol must be in a state where it's not required.... I'm just use to seeing helmets in California myself, but clean bike..... Be Safe!
I’m sorry but the 131 upgrade does not look like the bang for the buck just watching the way the bike reacted to throttle response compared to other performance engines. Why should you have to pay an extra ten grand just to upgrade a stock bike?
You do have to keep in mind that I didn’t take it over 3500 RPM due to break in... I’m sure once broke in it would feel like a whole new bike... This had a lot torque on the low end
What oil was in it? Harley oil? Were the rings seated? I like Harleys but I do not like their M8 with upgrades being sold as some kind of performance package. I my opinion just keep the M8 stock and just appreciate the styling because Harley rapes you for a little bit of performance on an engine that is not made for it. Retro is great in the looks and the styling but not on the inside of the engine. I would be worried that a 131 primary chain drive with a slip of the clutch at low speed would break off a dog ear on a gear. Had that happen on my Sportster and it came with factory upgraded cams. I would love to see Harley put that revolution engine in their big baggers.
Can throw an aftermarket cam and header pipe in a 114 and make the same power as this ;/ New woods 22x-e cam dynod at 134 TQ and 122HP in a otherwise bone stock 114 .
You should of had yours built instead of ordering a crate engine. To me the only reason to order the 131 crate engine would be if your engine has had a catastrophic failure or your bike came with the 107.
I like it and everything but for the amount of money you put into it you can buy 3 sport bikes that would totally embarrass this bike and I would rather have 3 bikes. The other thing that starts to arise is the bike itself is not made to handle that kind of power (tires front forks and rear suspension no steering stabilizer for speeds) be very cautious cranking on this thing.
So, you still have a bike that ANY JAPANESE bike can blow off the road. I have no idea why anyone would buy that engine. My twin cam does what it does. But a fast Harley is a fast Harley. It's not a fast motorcycle.

It’s funny how you turn the throttle just slightly when you we’re merging on the highway and then a big grin spreads across your face. 😎
Saw your jeep today and I subscribed! Also I think that ur Jeep looks awesome!

does that 131 has a top speed governor ?

Looks good. 1 question......engine heat......seeing much of a difference over a 114 or 117?
I went from 117 to 128 and the heat during the summer was insane.
Would you know if I can buy a complete 131 engine - what is the cost
Odin's Wolf The crate motor is 6400 plus tax... Then you have to pay for the Harley header that they sell for 800
Nice video Sir, but where's your helmet???? Lol must be in a state where it's not required.... I'm just use to seeing helmets in California myself, but clean bike..... Be Safe!
Wisconsin we don’t have to have one... I’m from California so I remember always having to wear one
Great 👍..Sir 😀👍

Too much sound interference when on the bike by something?
It’s wind... Not much I can do about that.... It’s way less when the camera is not exposed to direct wind

True but that 131 has room for improvement in the heads and camchest!
Peak numbers. The curve is flatter with the 131. There is 20 more HP at 4000 rpm with the 131
It may be lower priced than a CVO, but it will never keep a higher value than a CVO.
BobsGT235 I agree...
CVO is JUNK too

Right... I miss sport bikes and will probably add one to the channel
Those 3 bikes arent Harleys. And harleys dont need steering stabilizers, theyre designed and built correctly.
@@coffindancer38 Yeh, Harlys don't need stabilizers cuz they are slower than a 20 year old mini van 😂😂😂
