Just got a KIA Proceed GT today, I love the design and it drives excellent. For the money I feel I got a lot of stuff included which would have cost me extra on other brands. Kia learned a lot over the past few years and are getting better and better.
Appreciate it's a driving review, but given that it's a 'practical estate car' and being reviewed / compared as such - it would probably help to see SOME of the practicality and maybe a glimpse of the boot..
Its so upsetting that most car manufacturers stopped selling station wagons in the US. Personally I love a good sleeper. A car that's practical and capable but hiding the heart of a lion.
So few people are buying them over there. The SUV craze is so stupid. And the (mostly American) mentality of "I need a big car to be and feel safe" when in reality today's smaller cars are extremely safe as well. If I was in the market for a new car right now, I'd get a Mazda 3 with the Skyactiv-X engine or a Mazda MX-5 if I had a bit bigger budget. Small sporty cars and hatchbacks are cool. Huge monstrous and heavy vehicles are dumb, because 95% of the people buying them don't need them.
I've had this car for just over 12 months and it's fantastic. Drives great, looks great and the Kia UVO SYSTEM is fantastic. Love how you're able to lock and unlock via the UVO app and see how much fuel costs just by looking at the satnav on screen. Traffic updates are great with clear road sign information too. Yes, it's not an Audi or a Mercedes but you're also not paying their prices too. 👍
As an owner of a proceed gt, I can confirm that the boot.is really very reasonable. I will happily get a full load of shopping with masses of room to spare, the dog and buggy in the boot. As stated in the review it's a perfect all rounder. My wife and I adore the car and could not be happier after having owner it for 12 months now!
@@charlesomeni4256 yes, but with a large lab, not alot else, it's got a large opening and floor space but due to the sloping roof, the dog will want most of the space.
I love this car. As an E46 owner I’d seriously consider this as a replacement (only the GT one though) Also, finally a regular car review on this channel. Been a long time. It’s all been high end performance cars of late. Gets a bit tiresome.
@@alexb2612 The i30N will cost more to buy, run and insure. It’s a track day car too. Not many people go to track days, and once you hit a certain age, you start to look a bit silly driving around in a hot hatch. This car is a more practical version. Plus I feel the current i30 looks very boring… but I do like the Fastback version. At least this has some style. I do like the i20N and Kona N though. But hey, each to their own. I could never understand why people buy Citroens, but I guess some people really like them over other similarly priced choices.
The Ceed Interior is very understated.... It's relaxing. Simple. Practical. Well built. Classy. Ok the whole car isn't exciting, but there is also very little to complain about....that's a winner.
I've got KIA dealership right out of the window. And there are a lot of proceeds GT right there. I have to say from the outside they sound pretty loud but very hollow.
Great review. Bt proceed looks better to me than most volvo and merc estates. It is the most cohesive-designed wagon ever made. Except interior. Oh if only this n i30 got the new int. already.

I don't like station wagons and I don't particularly like hatchbacks either.. however, this thing has Panamera and RS7 vibes on a budget.. looks good, I dig it. Imagine this thing on a Stinger GT platform? would be really cool.

Over in Canada it's the Forte GT, I like the North American one more in terms of looks and the interior is a little different looking but my brother has one and it's a fun car.
That's a great looking car. I'd describe it as a a Shooting Brake, rather than an Estate. Throw a 2 Litre into it and a 0-100kph around 5 seconds and Kia's onto a winner.
When legends like Henry Catchpole speaks positively about a nasty DBX, people who are split 50/50 are bound to go the suv route. Americans have sworn by suvs since 1990s. When i watch tv shows of tht period, i see so many jumbo Tahoes, LCs etc. on the street. They are unsavable.
I've just bought one. Although not the GT model but the GT-line 1.4 turbo variant. Coming from a Vauxhall Insigna VX-Line 2.0 diesel, I have been keeping a very close eye on Kia for a number of years since my wife bought a Rio (great car by the way) the Kia is light years ahead. I have absolutely made the right decision. The car is just superb, it drives and handles better than any car I've ever had....and I've had BMW's so this is a bold statement. Very well equipped, very good and comfortable seats and that engine for a 1.4 is just perfect for the car and my driving style. The economy is quite decent too. I just love my Proceed, and to be honest Kia has got me hooked with the quality and that world beating 7 year warranty. Yes the interior could be a little more "classy" but its functional, and it just....works! Aside from a little tyre noise from the rear this car is perfect for me. Very highly recommended.
The 5 door hatch has multiling and so does the proceed shooting brake. They are identical in every way (chassis etc) except the body put on top of them.
Kia seems to have created this with the same sensibility as the Cerato (Forté) Koup. I own a 2012 model. It's not the best car in the world but it's one of the most balanced options at the price
Not sure why you're focusing on it being practical. It is shaped a bit like an estate car but that tailgate is tiny and there can't be much space is there. I'd be surprised if there's much more that you can do with this compared to a regular hatchback
Why are you comparing this to an rs4 which is in a completely different league ? There’s no conparison , Kia isn’t even trying to compete with that. You should be comparing it to a Vauxhall or vw estate of some type … it’s meant to be an every day car with a slightly modest amount of power, not a sports car.
I'm sorry, but I drive this exact car in sedan form (Forte GT Manual in the states) with a manual. Same power, same engine, same suspension etc. And that's just under 25k USD. Nearly 40 grand US for this is preposterous. On the note of the Sport button-- It's the first car I've actually noticed a difference. Like, flicking it on and off cruising on the highway, you can actually feel a little shove turning it on. And the car genuinely feels more sluggish without it. So I turn it on every time lmao
At least you have real buttons. :-) RS6 sucks big time with the display overkills :-) I drive a super sedan but I really do respect KIA for this great fun/family/design car for a quite affordable price.
Kia is doing a lot of good stuff these days. Seems like a pretty short period of time since they went from the butt of jokes to building some compelling cars. (Although many people seem to have missed the memo.) Sadly, this is likely a model that will not be on sale in the USA where I live.
Unfortunately Drew's in-car mike had a sound problem. It was hard to hear and alas no CCs. The review was well considered, clear, intensely practical and in its own manner and style every bit as enjoyable as Henry's works. Thanks to Carfection.
I mean ... I know Kia is striving upwards, but to compare this to an RS6 is almost irrelevant I would have thought! Slightly different league. It does raise the question though, what is the direct competition of this? The ~190bhp 3 series/A4/c class? Octavia VRS? Any of the warm focus and Leon estates? Still a lovely car, looking in to one of these as a replacement for my V60. Gt-line S Vs GT 2022 MY, not totally decided
It’s a “Shooting Brake”, essentially a station wagon with a coupe like roof line for added style. Some people are put off by the boxiness of a standard station wagon.

Won't it be transverse four not a straight four as in rear wheel drive. £30,000 cheap but will be a lot cheaper after 12 months............. Buy a nearly new Ford Focus ST instead.
Comparing this to a car like the RS6 is just plain ridiculous. This is an affordable practical family wagon with plenty of useful features. Too focused on performance not enough on the practical highlights of the car. 👎 review, sorry

It's pretty much kia Forte5 GT. Doesn't look as pretty as this but is just as practical and as fast with the same powertrain.

i got a used 2022 gt coming in 2 weeks, 6600 miles on it 7 speed auto, little apprehensive about the gearbox at the moment....

I got the gt line for £18,000 with 500 miles with on the clock. Never buy brand new. Buy demo cars.

But this is not new Proceed. The new refresh model is cooming in few weeks.
