Estate cars YAY! Suv's BOO! 😁👍
I feel rather like King Canute trying to hold the tide back. I thought I was the last remaining estate car fan. Happy I’m not alone anymore 👍
Had my Proceed GT Line for almost 2 years and still love it. I went for the 1.5turbo in 6speed manual. Great fun after 5 years in an automatic SUV.
I have a previous proceed 3 door coupe, most reliable car I have owned in 40 years.
Great little review Matt, I had a first generation Cee'd Sportswagen and it was a really good car, it handled well for a 1.6 diesel and was my first Kia so this this really appeals to me, it's got a nice spec, subwoofers for my tunes and decent sized space for the family.
I'm impressed! If I was into modern cars, I would seriously consider this as my daily over anything else
I’ve always liked these. They deserve to sell far more. Also hallelujah… physical climate and audio controls!
No one can complain about modern day Kia’s!
I beg to differ. We had a myriad of issues with the ones my company had. 24 Sportage’ & two Xceeds. The Xceeds both started cutting out round corners for some unknown reason and every single one of the sportage’s had this issue (along with customers) where the chain seizes. After my fourth I declined another Kia vehicle
Until they reach 80,000 miles.....that's when they start to wilt.
@@byronmills5952 80k? Yours must have been special! I didn’t get one past 37k 😂
@@byronmills5952mine hit 325,000km (203,000 miles if you live in 1947). I had the previous gen Pro_Cee'd CRDI. I'd mapped it to 160bhp and a little over 350Nm and upgraded the brakes. It lived a very hard life as a commuter car. Outside of service parts, I only had to replace the clutch in 8 years. The only gripe I had is that it felt slightly sluggish at low revs, but it was a diesel after all.
Mad that a 1.5 is now able to do 130mph and give 50mpg. For a "Family" type car you certainly do not need any more.
What a well equipped nice driving car, great to see Kia still offering an alternative ❤
I miss the Estate Cars of times now sadly mostly gone. I had a Modeo MK2 (the sharper edge version, not the facelift MK1) and it was brilliant. The only downside with any estate of the era was finding the required two post codes to park it although I found mine a doddle to park with the brilliant visibility. This Kia would certainly be a consideration if I wasn't falling to bits hence I now drive an SUV as I can get into it and out without the aid of a shovel. Many thanks for sharing as it's a big shame that estates appear to be going the way of the Dodo. RIP Volvo estates in the UK.
Oddly enough the hatchback Mondeo is longer than the est.
@@terryatkinson899 I may well be wrong but the MKII hatch was 4,731 mm (186.3 in) and the estate 4,804 mm (189.1 in) but not that much in it. I certainly found the estate easier to park though. They were great cars with decent handling, equipment and a huge amount of room. Everyday classics in the day as not that many on the road now days. I miss mine even though it's been a decade since it went on to new pastures after 10 years of ownership.
@@anthonystevens8683 I'm thinking of the last one mk5?
Next door has a 2017 hatch one and it's like a van in the back🤗
@@terryatkinson899 The last one was huge. I've never driven one though. Most are parked up so far away to find a big enough parking space.😉
One of the best looking estates you can buy, but I still think its predecessor is one of the best looking cars of the last decade.
If these were available in the United States I would be at my local dealership waving my checkbook and begging them to take my money!
For what, an new engine or a new steering column?
I have a 2012 proceed diesel and this makes me want an upgrade 🤗👍🇮🇪 however as things stand I've no interest in changing it cos it's so reliable and 2nd hand is overpriced at the minute over here in Ireland.
The Kia auto box is a gem, I dissed autos for years but after running my Niro for the last four years I wouldn't go back to manual for my main, everyday car.
I can agree, after having my 2022 Niro HEV for 1,5 years. Dry dual clutch 6-speed really suits to a full hybrid engine. And I have a direct comparison with my previous car's 6-speed Aisin conventional AT. That was quite sluggish and slow-shifting, strangling the peppy 2.2-liter PSA diesel. Also, what a combo - Japanese AT and French diesel, combined in a German-built Ford.
Could not agree more- CUV's are everywhere here in the U.S. and I'm so tired of them. Wish more estate's/wagon existed, but there are very few offerings. Great video, thanks.
Hilarious that the purely digital clocks do the needle sweep on startup. But at least they're clock-like.
Piano Scratch Black.
I hear those pandemic roofs are really catching on.
Man, that Trent Reznor made a nice lookin' station wagon.
I'm on my second Skoda Superb estate after owning a couple of crossovers. It's been great for tip runs, bicycles and DIY jobs. Seeing people at my local Wickes struggling (and failing) to fit sheets of plywood into their SUV's convinced me I'll never part with an estate for as long as they sell them.
Just bought a Mazda 6 -17 with similar specs, love driving a wagon :)
I considered one of these when i bought my 2019 Leon Estate. Interestingly, at the time, KIA did this, plus a Ceed Estate, which had the more conventional squared off back and an even bigger boot.
I ended up going for the SEAT as it was available with a 2.0 turbo which had more torque than any of the KIA 1.5 turbos, and the hotter turbo was only available on the Proceed, which has that slightly impractical swoopy back.
Nice car, though, and KIA are WAY more generous with their standard equipment than VAG.
Shame these were never sold here in Australia. They are a great vehicle & could have done well here
I keep looking at those I like an estate car
Yes! If I needed a brand new estate car I would be considering one of these fantastic looking Kias (and maybe a Corolla or Swace).
"Pandemic roof "- love it - does that mean it comes with its own mask and a warning not to approach within 2 metres...? (Also - remember to wash your hands every time after operating it).
I'm surprised you were so nice about this, considering that it's an accursed automatic.
A very nice looking estate car Matt 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏👏👏👏
This is a very nice car, a Mercedes replacement perhaps (in a manual).
But at the risk of disagreeing with Mr FD this is not a compact estate, at over 4.6m long it is too big. With the demise of the Skoda Fabia Estate there are no longer any compact estates available.
This is why I bought a Suzuki Vitara. 4.2m long. 1200kg curb weight, less than my R56 Mini Cooper SD. It will do, in manual form, 50mpg if driven carefully, 45 if not. And it handles nearly as well as a Suzuki Swift. Load space at 375L is not bad, plus it is flat.
Buttons!!!! Yea :-). Except, the screen looks like a bolt on after thought. Are we ever going to see cars designed with a proper dash, like the s-max, Mondeo, older A4 etc?
My only experience of Kia's was a mk 1 Picanto. That had all the comforts of a showground Bumper car. This is a different animal. Looks quite good and spacious and i wouldnt say no to a wee test drive. Quite impressive. Thanks for vid Later 👍
They’ve come an incredibly long way from that!
Current Picantos are actually hailed for being the most engaging and comfortable city cars, that feel much bigger than they are! Definitely come a long way. Shame they're ditching the 1.0l turbo engine in the facelift now, up till now with that engine it was a baby hot hatch.
I really like the look of this vehicle and your video has made my mind up to get one.
Great mini-review Matt, that's a great well specced car! 👍👍
Got a 1.6 GT after coming from a mercedes and am pleasantly surprised how good it is especially the gearbox
And also your in a pretty exclusive club as you'll not see many
And now, the council for the defence, Mr Furious - proceed!
Bought one, I love it
Ordered mine already. Exactly the same as this one but (infrared). Expected delivery time, late December 🤞Really excited though.
Thank you very much for your review Matt.
Good Times, I ordered mine and I'm being told Q1 next year for delivery 😢
I had the old model as a courtesy car. I liked it especially the under floor storage. It was much slower than my Astra H 1.9 estate. Also for a brand new car I wasn't impressed that the electric windows stopped working. Seen a few bad stories about reliability and wear and tear not being the best after a couple of years.
BRING BACK ESTATES
Seems good for a modern car, much rather see an estate than an SUV
I'm surprised you liked this car so much Matt considering it's a dreaded AUTO! 😉
Very similar spec to our Xceed First Edition
The problem is it's a CUV (what Kia called it) - not an SUV - but dangerously similar!
As a Mk3 2009 Avensis Tourer with the 1.8 Valvematic petrol owner, this Kia would make a great replacement. I have only had hatchbacks or estate.
Yes, I agree. Although I have an SUV, there really wasn’t any practical alternative at the time. I would much rather have a sporty estate.
Just ordered my new gt line s, hopefully take delivery end of July ? It’s in the black the same as the one you tested. I have a qashqai atm so this should feel amazing in comparison?
I like the pandemic roof, lol😮 it’s catching
Kias simply ROCK.
The one that got away. I nearly got one but went for the vw golf mark 7 estate instead. The Kia engine and chassis were considered inferior. Given it was covid times not easy to test drive anything. Cabin looks cheaper but it's definitely more interesting especially the exterior styling. Wasn't this version. I was looking at 2019 cars. The new engine you've got in this one is significantly better. The golf has more room too because of the boxy shape.
I've just ordered one Matt, thanks for doing the review
Hope you enjoy it!
Who needs a Benz? 😉 I love this car, wouldn't mind having one. Or the regular SW
This does come close, and you can have a manual
Great review Matt. These are very nice looking and glad some manufacturers still make estates. However, I think that estate cars have lost their way with style over function and they offer less boot height compared to their predecessors.
Still, I’ll have this over a Sportage any day.
Oh, and glad it has proper buttons!
Volvo 940 owner checking in... totally agree. What ever happened to that high mileage S80 you sold to that Alex chap?
@@lukemallory7832 hey. Still with Alex and last time I heard it was waiting for some welding to be done.
Half decent looking thing . Give it a proper handbrake, proper dials, ditch the touchscreen, and maybe I'd like one .
i like a nice estate although older ones
I had a MK1 with the 89bhp 1.6 and it was a great car despite the low power. The the 2.0 cdri sport, great engine but they lowered the seats to much to be sporty which wasn't as comfortable. Finally a Optima estate which an amazing motorway car but rubbish in town. I have a kodiaq now which is a tall estate really
I can never tell if you are saying "pаndеmic roof" by accident or intentionally.
I’ll let you decide
It's a pity Kia have stop making (or at selling in the UK) the Optima, I've a touring version and love it. Loads of kit and massively spacious for load lugging.
Proper car. Very nice.
Very nice but how was it for road noise it sounded rather intrusive
I think it was the mic picking it up worse than in real life
Looks like it would be very easy to live with. No doubt long warranty too. MB quality for much less money??????
I would've liked to see a wide shot of the front of the car. I still don't know what one looks like!
Fell in love with her as soon as i saw her. The feeling was mutual and she said PROCEED. I said first give me a KIAS 😘😉
Swap in the 3.3 V6?
Please test drive a fist gen Smart Forfour
Great looking car, nearly bought one but got an XCeed instead as we have to get very young and/or very old people in and out occasionally. Same engine but manual box, really love the way it drives and all the kit, plus that warranty. How does the autobox compare with your Merc's?
Very similar auto, only a 7 speed vs 9 in the Merc. Very smooth but a bit dead to drive
There wont a lot of room in the back, the drivers seat has reversed ,you have the front door open....😊What a wally
I love an estate car but nothing wrong with SUVs. I said this before but I’ll lend you my Jag F Pace for a drive and see if you think that’s roly poly.
Yipee I'm 12th today
😂😂”Pandemic Roof”
Mine arrives next month!
When did you order
@@leecowper1509 ordered early August and arrived mid September.
@@12CylonModels I ordered in June and still haven't had a build date
@@leecowper1509tbf mine was much quicker than they originally told me. Like 6 months earlier. I assumed I got a cancellation or something.
@@12CylonModels are u pleased with it ,I'm thinking of cancelling and looking for something else as they said it would be here for October, I got told off another dealer that they will not be here until quarter 1 next year
May get one in 8 to 10 years time if there still a good buy used😂
Hardly any estates in the States.
Trust me, I'm no Wordsworth ...
I do like these kia ceeds estates not in black tho fed up with black cars I saw you at the festival of the unexceptional I was going to said hi but you was busy hopefully next year matt
Is it uncomfortable to drive? Too hard ride?
No, I thought it was on the sporty side but not harsh and rode better than an SUV
Cool. Iv driven SUVs and some roll around quite alarmingly. This car seems to tick most of the boxes! I guess you always have to compromise on some things with any car.
I prefer the diesel version, more economical.
SUV's are largely for non-car people...who ever thought the thinking mans car would be a station wagon!.
Every thinking man might have thought that, presumably. Q E D.
I've literally just sold my Proceed gt line s because of the horrible dct box..
Looks like a mercedes CLS wagon estate
I have an SUV Matt... I´ll get me Coat. Sorry!!!
Thank´s Matt. Good to know I´m not out in the Cold 'Cos of my car.
Motorway?
Oh what a surprise not on this Chanell .
which motorway in the New Forrest do you suggest?
“Pandemic roof”? And vegan leather.
I like Hyundai group cars, but the fact that they have a very recent and repeated record of child labor use, would put me off.
👌👌
Ahm... I'm unsure what a "pandemic" roof is. 😂
People were often calling the covid pandemic "the panoramic" or various other similiar sounding words mostly to avoid social media censor detectors, since negative content isn't good for advertising.
👍🏴
No thanks
I do not like shiny black plastic it scratches to easliy.
Personal preference, find the Leon a far better all rounder
Had one of these as a courtesy car once. It's a car with an estate body and the boot space of a 4-door saloon. Utterly useless. It also handled like a shopping trolley full of logs.
Suit u please slow down talking too fast
Lol a Pandemic roof what is that lol? I think you mean pararomic roof.
Pandemic roof 🤣
Can't say I like the styling (a bit slug like) and the rear seat ergonomics not the best (I mean come on Kia, if you are going to 'gentrify' the brand get stuff like that right).
Saying that, cheap compared to a Merc or BMW, and nice to see a car that isn't a SUV. Do I feel tempted? No. Good for a family, mum and dad with a couple of sprogs in the rear...a bit like...a SUV!😮
Room for improvement.
Cheese toasty lol. Its a car not a kitchen. You seem obsessed with food and drink. Really that is not good.
a cheeper vw wannabe
So booooring
Kias are possibly the most boring and soulless cars on the market along with VAG cars at the moment 🥱
