outstanding. i flew the royal navy commando version - wessex hu 5 - in the falklands war. read about our exploits in my book "scram". this guy couldn't be doing a pure loop unless his helo has been fitted with a fixed rotor head. zero g inverted would cause the blades to flap uncontrollably upwards on their hinges. but it still looks like an amazing piece of flying. beautiful control. I got to 115 degrees of bank in a wezzy 5. hard to tell if he manages more than that. great poling.

Amazing what kind of airplane you can make from an ancient airframe with new turbine engine technology and a new rotor system. Probably a lot of updated electronics and avionics too. My Dad flew th H-34 in Vienam for the Marines. The same airframe with a radial engine.
This guy is Hung Like a BEAR... Amazing Skill, Precision and Balls - doing it YEARS before they built a helicopter that people knew was capable of a loop - What a Legend - the Bob Hoover of the rotor wing world. RESPECT
Holy crap. That guy has nards the size of beach balls. My 15 year old is training to be a helicopter pilot. I used to fly fixed wing, and he got me to "fly" the R-44 simulator. Flying rotary wing is like night and day compared to fixed wing. Those darn things have ZERO sense of direction!
The fact is that the pilot is not so much great as he is daring. The video clearly shows this and that helicopter would have been grounded for a major airframe inspection if it were used for civilian passenger transport. I used to fly the MBB-BO-105 and that is even more responsive and maneuverable than this Sikorsky and I never dared touch the capabilities of that aircraft so as not to exceed the limits of the airframe or put myself or others at undue risk.
So agile and really unbelievable moves with this old airframe. Very brave pilots! Big like!
