Nice shots of the training center. I work out of the Chattanooga TN terminal. I'm halfway through my CO training right now and I've been down there twice. All those geeps are remote controlled so the instructor can run them from the ground and still teach the class. During classes, they usually have one running on the north end and another on the south end of the training yard. That SD70M-2 never runs. All they use it for is locomotive prep class to familiarize the students where things like angle cocks and cutoff switches are on locomotives as well as how to hook up the MU hoses. They had a wore out dash 9 when I was down there that they used sometimes. You are right about a rough ride too lol. Those old dash 9s will totally rattle your teeth out! Oddly enough despite being rebuilds, several of those AC44C6M rebuilds I've rode on rode just as rough, despite looking brand new both inside and out.
@@gloria6229 they just use it for locomotive prep class. It gets you familiar with the MU cables, the cut out cocks and other appliances you'll need to know for coupling engines together. They really need a GE there to because the angle cock and the other cut ins on GEs are in very different places compared to EMDs.
You really can't beat the look of those mid-production GP units. I have a Bachmann HO scale GP40 in the Santa Fe Superfleet scheme; one day I hope to acquire two Life-Like GP38-2s in the Superfleet scheme (one high hood and one low hood), add a DCC decoder to each of them as well as the GP40, and consist the three together. The problem has always been finding Life-Like GP38-2s in the Superfleet scheme and finding DCC decoders that would fit inside of them; finally saw one that might work in the News & Products section of the latest Model Railroader, so that's half of the problem!
Man, your trains are really cool, I have to visit sometime and see some live and also see some of the best US rail-museums. A little interesting US related train fact: In the 1960's Swedish company NOHAB produced EMD locomotives on licens for the European market losely based on the F-unit. Hungary, communist back then, bought some of theese but as soon as the Soviets found out they where banned from buying any more. They where however allowed to use thoose already delivered so there where actually about 20 F-units (sort of) with proper GM EMD prime movers, running with a big red star in the front, behind the iron curtain for several decades. They still have a cult status in Hungary to this day! :)
@@v12productions awesome! I kinda wish that US railroads would still allow cab rides for railfans, though I do understand the concern. BTW, was that locomotive still in service at the time, or do they have a railroad museum in Denmark?
Just started watching you videos recently. Odd to see a video from my town. There are a fair few neat trains that come through here, even got a chance to see one of the Heritage units come through Friday, February 11th in afternoon heading northbound, 8114 the red and yellow Norfolk Southern scheme. It was quite a neat sight to see
Neat to see how other railroads training facilities are. I'm currently in training with Canadian National at their training center in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The new building was built around 2013 and is a huge upgrade over the old ex-bunkhouse training center. Also very cool since we are next to Transcona yard's locomotive shops, and there are lots of cool old locomotives sitting on storage tracks, like old GMD-1s, BC Rail M420Ws, and lots more.
One of the perks of living within 45 minutes and 10 minutes of two of the busiest US double track mainlines in the country is your almost guaranteed to see train after train after train. Sometimes it’s too much and there have been days where I make almost 3 one hour long videos because it’s so busy
Any chance you can try to do the Stone Mountain Railway this year and get some video of 5896. The test run on the railroad will take place around March 5. You can also go to the yard after walking the tracks from the grist mill. If you're lucky enough you may even get a shop tour.
Nice catches! You should visit NS Junction at Memphis, TN, there's quite a bit of BNSF runthrough traffic there, been there a couple of times myself picking up crews there.
Have you ever seen Norfolk and Western 611 class J if not then sometime next month or April it will leave Strasburg railroad and head back down south probably to Spencer North Carolina.
NS "Admiral" Cab GP38-2 #5217, & High Hood GP38-2s #5049 & #5237. Wonder what that SD70M-2 is used for? What is that SD70M-2 numbered as at the training center at the g scale New River Gorge National Park and Preserve in Fayetteville West Virginia not far from Ansted where my uncle Greg lives.
If only we was born in America we might be happier now :( Even Railfan are given the same facilities as train passenger, there's even a Train Scanner 😭 only use HT here :(
Some advice to new railfans, WEAR HEADPHONES you could go deaf or damage your ears I Made this mistake and my ears are somewhat damaged, and I can no longer hear as much as I use too, but if you don't want to, do it at your cation
You’re right, that horn on the final engine sounded like a trumpet, was great 😊
1:30 I remember seeing that as a kid
great video happy Valentine's Day

Thanks Charlie for the consistent and Strong 💪 effort. 👍
Thanks for watching!
I saw Norfolk Southern 4067 from the 2022 Tennessee derallment
Looks like a great place to watch trains. Great shots and indeed, some very cool horns too. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I have always like the GP38-2. It’s my favorite train. Just love the style. Even if it means less seeing for a driver it’s still dope.

Nice location and some great shots, 👍👍
Thanks!
I’ve been wanting to catch NS 4009 with that P5, just hasn’t come through my area yet
Wow that lead unit on 10A was bouncing like a car with airbags!!
I remember seeing long strings of those NS high hoods. I miss them a lot.
Dang! You actually caught a rare horn on the BNSF 5161. K3LLA Horn.
Nice drone shots. Beautiful!
Thanks!
I love your videos man! You dont trespass and your quality and narration is always on point! Keep it up!
I really appreciate that! Thank you!

All your videos are beautifully shot...trains and surrounding images....excellent!
Really appreciate that! Thank you!
What a beautiful P5 on 226, great catches.
Thanks!
0:49 Great video as always, btw I have been inside of that ES40DC 7577 before.
Thanks!
No problem man, keep up the good work!

@@v12productions Your very welcome.
I’m from the Mcdonough area and Locust Grove is home base for me when it comes to Railfanning.
The horn on 4226 is a hybrid. It's a Narrow Font K5LAB, bells 1 2 3B 4A 5
Caught just one freight there myself in April 2021 - a long way from home, but a great stop.
That was surprising to see, not just one, but two Intermodal containers loaded piggyback-style on container chassis - in one day!
At 2:44 the reason you keep seeing high hoods is because GP38-2 high hoods 5005, 5217 and 5237 are assigned to the training center.
I like the horn!

I'll add that to my list! I'd like to start visiting places outside of Georgia.
Nice video!
I also caught a strange train horn near Detroit and it was a CN Gh-643-H and it was really weird and loud!
Nice video.
Thanks!
I live in a rural town called Pendleton, OR and we get trains almost everyday, railfaning isn’t a thing in my town
Have you ever seen Norfolk and Western 611 class J if not then sometime next month or April it will leave Strasburg railroad and head back down south probably to Spencer North Carolina.
I haven't, but would really like to.
There's the Norfolk Southern training center in McDonough, Georgia.
nice bro!
Nice video
I do agree that horn does sound weird

Great shots and informative narration. I probably missed them but the first 2 or 3 trains didn't have a FRED? Cheers, Bob
Thanks! They did, but they're kinda hard to see.
Hey V12! I was wondering if you ever can go to Fairport NY since it has a great place to railfan!
I'd like to do some railfanning up north one day. Thanks for the tip!
Austell ga is a great railfan spot

Thanks! I would recommend late afternoon.
@@v12productions Ah alright, thank you.
I feel like I should had finish my processes with NS to become a train conductor but I’m unsure with the money they make and the time away from family
Bnsf is my home road so to me thats just normal
Tnat k5la on the first was crying for help
That’s actually a Narrow Font K5LAB or K5LAM. The lead engine was NS 4226
i need to go to locust grove
I got lucky too
Manchester has a pretty nice platform, but no radio unfortunately.
Im on my fifth week of training at the ms tc rn
I got there at 5 o’clock and no trains came after for two hours
Apparently the AC44C6M gave good results....
5:21 NS 4067- Derailed- Collegedale, TN
I heard.
5:18 it’s actually snow 4009
V12 productions a train derailed in Kingston Georgia
How do you know the train number
