I definitely agree. I liked the first season, but after that, it felt more like I was just watching because I wanted to know how it ended and had already invested too much time to give up on it. Season 3 was an absolute trainwreck! And some of the acting was really not great.
Sadly agree with your rating...cast is painful, so many inconsistency and also so much potential at the beginning... I watch hoping there would be improvement but it went the other way and deeper ...
Mhhhhh I m split about the series. I think in a lot of scenes and especially the first episodes at the campside it does a lot of things better than other, modern series. A variety of characters, diversity without forcing it into and without any ,, woke " stuff, diverse characters which have more to offer than a Disney like ,, i am trans-queer-non-binary-fluid whatever thats my only personality and thats why i m in the show". Some nice development of the figures. Some interesting side-plots. Acting was ok i guess. For what the cast was i guess its alright. It never really getting to me, so i would say i m happy with it. 🤷 But now the downsides and oh boy. Around the middle of the first season they throw so much into it that i really thought ,,where the hell this should lead?" Sadly the show was at no point able to give me a feeling for the size of its world. I mean often it felt as you where in a kind of,,larger" hunger-games arena or so - considering that this is the whole world but just very far into the past. The show has the same problems as other shows: too less time. Problems mostly get solved in one episode. Pacing is off and odd. They re unable to develop a feeling for time and daytime during,,missions" far away. F.e the mines: as we know, they re at least somewhat like 20 miles or so away from the camp. When they got back they said , at the mines, -shit, they re heading towards the village (of the wild people) we need to warn them - giving the impression that its just around the corner. After a few episodes the show did no longer care for the ,,NPC" s in the camp, no longer for the survival aspect, no longer about the camp itself. When they come back to the camp after a long walk the daytime did not change, nothing gives as a hint on the fact that they could be away for at least a day or so - cause even in the camp, people are doing the same things they ve done as the main characters left the camp. Which makes you feel, that the mines, the HQ of the ,,evil corp. " , the mountain and the village are just in the range of one or two miles. The CGI for the animals is not good, but i can deal with it. Spinosaur looks really good, T-rex looked bad. The world is just empy as ubisoft game. 😅 I mean there are only animals or landmarks what ever, if they are needed. Oh there a few meters away is the only fallen tree. Under it, there are the secret caves. Oh yeah back there is the dry river with that one door in the wall to the HQ. 🙄 Again: makes the world feel like a small open world map. And there seems to be so less stuff, that everyone seems to know everything. every location, landmark, population and so on [...] So you can really see where they run out of budget.... --- Also i dont like the heavy turn towards,, evil scifi company wanna rebuild and rule the world, the chosen and lost son returns and weird time travel - time-loop " turn and twist the show took. 🙄 Than there is the point, that every foreign people they meet in the real LA or the 1988 LA is just believing that story within a minute or is just like ,, oh hell, finally i know the truth. Thanks to you. And guess what, i ve just build the generator you need over the last years " No one is asking what the hell Josh's smartphone with the HD pictures is? In 1988? The prof looked at it like its normal and said ,, everyone could fake such photos.... " ( Ehhh no, you couldnt. And pls talk again with the prof, cause know she will believe you and in her backyard she has just the machine you need to travel back " .... I mean really? ???? And the optics and the graphic design is poor as in every modern series. The camera angles take a lot of tension and good vibes and a lot of scenes amd environment looks like a fan-film. @@MichasBreakdown Well when i wrote that comment i was just in the middle of season two. 😅 So thing with the prof in 1988 makes actually sense. ^^ But still it feels a bit.... well not really round enough. But i 've watched Season 2 EP. 7-9 last night and i must say: they re actually good. It was the first time that world had a feeling of meaning and size and the first time i believed the way story and single scenes headed. Acting and twist where better, whe had a focus on live inside camp, solving problems in camp, getting a glimpse of the NPC s. If the whole story would have been like that, it would actually be good. Than still it would be too much stuff for the setting, too much plot conveniences and stuff that shouldnt be the focus - but if they had done it that way like S2 E7-9 i would be more pleased. But i ve heard that S3 must be.... well exhausting.... Looks like the ran outta ideas and decided: OK now let them give them the monsters we teased in the trailers." Here you got a Pteranodon, there you have the bad version of the JP1 T-Rex chase, now two even bigger Spinosaur.... Well running out of ideas and budget i guess....
Happy to hear you liked the show. It just wasn't my cup of tea. The good news: As it had a proper ending, you can rewatch it without getting frustrated by a cliffhanger ending.
I don't remember that clearly, but I think he stayed in another time period for a while before they met again, while the others basically were picked up soon after they landed there.
I'm watching the show right now and I have to say, this is by far the worst show I've ever seen, but somehow I can't stop watching it 😂😅. And I still wonder how Gavin got blonde hair in his childhood and now has pitch black hair. Not even his grandfather asked that question when they first met. How!?!?
Exactly, thanks for reminding me. That puzzled me as well. I mean, myself, I started out with a light blonde head of hair and now I’m middle to dark blonde. Well, with a bit of grey in there as well now. Anyway, from light blonde to black is really, really a big stretch.

Started first episode and turned it off. Cool idea, but the acting was abysmal, filled with bad CGI, I'd rather get a summary of the plot since it did seem like it could have been awesome.
While the CGI got better over time, at least a bit, the overall acting didn't evolve - and the scripts just became terrible. So it might be a wise decision to not further engage with the show, if you didn't even like the beginning - because there it still was bearable.
It started strong, but kept getting woker and woker as episodes went on, until it was a multi million dollar waste of viewership, by episode 6, I was fwding to move faster getting to an eventual disaster of a season finale!!! Spot on rating!!!!
That's right. Fitting name - but also fitting for the show, as the later seasons were drawing me under and even though I didn't like much of it, I was "trapped" and kept watching, after having invested so much time in it already 😅.
This seems to be almost as mishandled as Terra Nova was. For some reason, prehistoric related media just don't do too well when it comes to television. Outside of the acting, cast, and story that is my biggest disappointment with the show. Someone someday will make a good show related to prehistoric animals, but this is not that day.
It was a crappy series. Bad acting. Terribly written. Hated Eve. Despised Levi. Angry that Gavin couldn't be stronger in ending his friendship with Levi for sleeping with his wife. Annoyed that Eve was selfish and cold-hearted. Eve pretends to be the victim in the love triangle. Poor family ties and relations among the Harrises. Izzy, Josh and Eve's sense of loyalty to Levi was beyond me. Many times, they disregarded Gavin's feelings for Levi. Eve was a B who wanted Levi above all, she didn't care about the many ways Gavin risked his life for her and their kids. Gavin regarded Eve and his kids always. Eve regarded her kids and Levi more. I wanted Gavin to wise up and say, you love him? Go be with him and walk away, concentrate on his kids and getting them out. Better women are out there, Gavin. The love between Eve and Gavin is like muddy water. It's lacks chemistry throughout.
Though now that you mentioned it - thinking back I do remember while watching it how it bothered me. How everyone treated Gavin and how how they all loved Levi. And above all the fact that no one believed Gavin and just called him crazy, basically pushing him into alcoholism. Thanks for the reminder.
