I’ll never understand the “it’s too familiar” complaint. The formula has proven to be successful. This game got rid of the mini-map to place a focus on immersive discovery and got rid of the tower climbing mechanic while also changing the hunting and gathering economy and perk progression system. There are also planes, helicopters and you can call in a freaking bear as your backup. Also smacking fools with a shovel never gets old.
I thought the seeds were awesome and each had a different personality and especially Joseph he was very creepy and had a really passive aggressive vibe that made him seem truly insane
I hate how your character doesn't have a voice. All they had to do was get a female and male voice actor, like Bethesda did with fallout 4. Quite ridiculous really as they had 3 years
Your character do have a voice but it's only down to grunts and moans and a couple of lines when fishing. I hate the fact that Deputy (player character) got no character at all. There are so many scenes that he/she should have at least some sort of reaction but nope.
I know right. It ain’t that entertaining completing a mission with a mute character. Besides, Ubisoft has a lot of money anyway, they can probably squeeze voices for the characters if they want it, but probably they have a schedule to catch or simply they’re just minimizing the game size. Anyways, I don’t care for the game size, all I want is a talking protagonist.
I don't have any problems with the game so far, EXCEPT 2 things that I absolutely hate. 1 - Stealth is, well, no longer existent. 2 - Even when I want to peacefully explore the environment I am always interrupted by gun fire from planes, vehicles and people in places where i have literally liberated all outposts and completed all quests.
1- Stealth is still optional. I always sniped or silently take down as many guys I could before I got spotted then it's boomstick time. 2- It's America. What do you expect? (jkjk)
The biggest letdown for me was the resistance meter and how easily and quickly you could liberate a region if you just did the right things. For example, I beat Faith's region in probably less than three hours. That doesn't include the side missions or anything, but her character just kinda came and went before I could get invested in them. The same went for the other two members of the Seed family. You could easily be more than halfway done liberating a region by doing 5-6 resistance missions. It just felt very rushed. I would of liked to have seen more of the family. I also didn't like the aspect of the game where they could capture you in the middle of doing something. That was annoying, especially for me, a guy who really enjoys open world games.
8:02 "The game features some of the greatest snot(?) acting we've ever seen"? What? what is she saying there? It's really frustrating me, I keep playing it back.
I thought the Seeds were far better than Pagan and on par with Vaas. They could've got more screen time, but at the same time, I think leaving them relatively untouchable made them all the more intimidating. I also loved that towers were kinda phased out. They're fun to climb, but every game has them now.
The mission where you meet sharky and kill a ton of the angels was my favorite mission in the gams so far. Mainly because I played that one mission for like 30 minutes just killing angels and completing the perk challenges.
Looks like far cry 4 just with a different setting. I think I'll buy it when it gets a price drop. Don't think it's worth 60 bucks when it looks excacly like the previous games.
If they could implement the nemesis system from Shadow of War into this it'd make boss fights so much better and add variety to the combat. Actually pretty much any open world game would benefit from the nemesis system.
agreed but remember their blocks of code built by coders from that particular company. they cant just copy a code. and re writing something like that must be tough, especially to implement it into a different engine. I feel Ubisoft have the best ideas, just they don't seem to have the best coders. Warner Bros have a brilliant set of coders and they use Unreal 5. I wish company would team up to make games
I’m sorry but as someone who’s used a lot of actual level editors I can safely say there’s not that much the Far Cry editor offers. It’s just blasted with assets and that’s it. All you can really do is put stuff down and “decorate”. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s fun, but I’m not fond of the praise for its “creative opportunities” when it’s limited to 4 gamemodes and prop reliant level design with pre-scripts. Also, it’s not that hard to use but it often feels imprecise and at times glitchy. You’d know what I mean if you ever used hammer. It’s not an unfair comparison considering I’m only talking about how the ui and performance feels. I still think it’s good for what it’s designed for.
I thought the seed family were kinda interesting.... faith had been betrayed by her own family an tortured.... turned to a junky and wanted to die.... all the others all lost some part of themselves and joined but the farther.... his story was sad and disturbing at the same time.... he was a victim... but his pain turned him to do evil he believed was right.....
Honestly the only thing I don't like is that there aren't any stabby stabby takedowns like in farcry 3, they could totally have knifes, or especially pitchforks....
Tbh, I adore the Seed family, all but for Joseph for the reason you mentioned. His acting when he's there is brilliant, but that's about it. The ending is what really took the shine off things which is a shame as it's a very good game before that IMHO.
A Far Cry game feels like a Far Cry game. That’s a shocker. -2 points for being Far Cry. Meanwhile God of War repeats hack and slash to each cut scene, a few puzzles, and hack and slash some more. Guess I’ll deduct some points for familiarity and feeling like a God of War game before it even releases.
NiktendoV12 Sounds a lot like every COD game I have played. To be honest familiarity is why so many people like to stick with some games, but we blast others for the same thing. The only FPS series I can actually say has changed in its feel is Halo. The formula stayed the same, but every single game played differently.
Just for contrast, I disagreed with the first negative point. While she is right that the game doesn't dive into these topics how they could have, I feel like there is enough material on these characters to really understand what they are about, and especially how they all bought into the ideologies of the cult, this is actually one of the few games i've ever played where at one point I genuinely believed the main antagonist was breaking the 4th wall and directly asking the player some pretty heavy questions about happiness, the world, and how we fit into it.
tbh the one thing I didn't understood about FC5 is that how the hell did Joseph Seed get all those assault rifles(assault rifle being a rifle that can fire in burst(burst being you pulling the trigger and it will only stop firing when you run out of ammo)). Like seriously, unless he converted the ARs he got or he bought all those guns illegally.
Seems like the sniping is broken too. Taking over an outpost in the hills got every enemy tagged then there is that one lonely guy by himself where no-one is looking at him, take him down with a silenced .50 cal and then everybody knows where you are
Other than story if you had read notes and stuff around the Hope Country and listened to radio and other stuff, you probably learned more than just focusing on shooting and wanting a good ending
I've heard he's a staple character who appears in all the games. I've only played 3 and 4 but he was only in 4 for about 30 seconds and I don't remember him being in 3 at all.
K Dub From my knowledge. Far Cry 3 was Hurk's first appearance. But he only appeared through the bonus pre-order missions for Far Cry 3. Him and his Monkeys.
I’ve been playing far cry since fc2 and unpopular opinion my favorite one was fc4 but I have already preordered this game but there are a few things I don’t like why do u take down with your fist I’m not quite sure how the chain takedowns will work unless u go all Bruce lee and why get rid of crafting honestly like these perk points just dumb down the game and from what I’ve seen you buy these with money but that brings up another problem money is piss easy to get in these games also the villain seems shitty ima miss vass and pagen like remember in fc4 when pagen told you to wait at his house and if you just chilled there he’d come back and you would spread the ashes and win the game I feel like that level of detail won’t be here
I think for aerial and chain takedowns you'll use a weapon, probably whichever you have equipped because there are multiple melee weps. The perk points will probably be purchased will skill points that you'll get for gaining exp. I mean crafting wasn't all that complex in the earlier games. "Kill 2 bears. Okay now kill 5 bears and a wolf." And I'm sure that if you refuse to cuff Joseph in the beginning you'll get a "I joined the cult lol" ending. We'll just have to wait and see.
Been playing since Far Cry 1. Still think the first half of the game was the best experience of any Far Cry game in the series. Been waiting for them to bring Jack Carver back and do it properly but hasnt happened yet. Far Cry 5 still seems good though. Going to give it a shot
My problem is the enemy respawn. Enemies respawn behind you while you are still in a fight (according to ACG review). Unrealistic enemy respawn kills immersion for me
I'm playing this on PC. It looks, and runs like a dream (have to appreciate the optimization here). I love everything about it except that the enemy encounter rate at times can feel excessive.
Can you increase the difficulty in the game by turning off certain elements of the UI like you can in Wildlands? The Wildlands experience totally changed when I changed the difficulty to hardest and turned off most of the UI.
How did you overcome the autosave stutter while picking up ammo or new regions names popping up ? I run the game on pc and these lag spikes occurs even on the lowest settings.
Just so anyone reading the comments knows in case they don’t say in the video, the deputy is a mute protagonist, aside from grunts, you don’t speak and characters awkwardly look at you between lines as if you’re supposed to respond in your head
I can’t wait till far cry 6, its gonna look so amazing but I also hope they learn from their mistakes on far cry 5 😂 cause I went through so many loops, I had to repeat the ending (I still have to) after the credits 😭 so now I’m doing all the missions I missed, then ima do the ‘Where It All Began’ mission after it all
@@judge00 lol i bought it maybe right after it came out and i still have yet to finish it. Not much of a difference from the previous games ofc but still a good story.
Oh man Far Cry 3 had a great villian. What about the story? Oh that was no different than any other Far Cry story. So why are people going crazy over a villain that dies half way through the game? Shrug shoulders idk people are like that.
is hunting animals a big part of this game? I hope it is cause the setting just feels so right to do so. Carefully tracking a deer to a certain location, then tailing until you get the shot, pull out ya hunting rifle and fire. So perfect.
the problem with far cry 5s villains dosent have anything to do with their performance joseph john and Jacob in particular have tons of potential because of their direct interactions with the character. the reason why they didnt connect to us as much as Pagan Vaas and Hoyt is couse you play as a silent protagonist without a personality that could clash with theirs i mean think back to jason he had many reasons to hate Vaas and Hoyt couse of the story behind their relationship to him plus he was conversating with them which added to the different perspectives clashing and driving the story further towards the end. since your character cant talk back you cant give joseph the shit you want to i hope that new dawn will give us a talking protagonist again
I love the new editor from what I've seen. It was alright in far cry 4, it was awesome in far cry 4 and it's bound to be amazing with all the new features. I loved to make impossible outposts and then try those myself.
I loved the open world aspect and honestly felt that the leaders of the cult were very charismatic to each their own. One aspect I felt annoyed with was the heavy amount of the Bliss psychedelic spread across the county. The reason is in the last few titles 3 to primal the heavy psychedelic "trips" occurred during key points in the game rather than when you go swimming or get too close to a barrel of it. In Faith's region especially this is bad. Don't get me wrong I loved the actual story based "trips" in which Faith speaks with you the visuals and l dialogue were on point!
Hmm. Turns out someone else checked in the options menu but didn't seem to find the actual method to disable the blinking objects. Do you know how to go about it? Sorry to bother
one thing for me is that i don’t like, (it’s a bug they can easily fix but) the silencers are asssss. i’ve scouted a whole place out, took a headshot on the guy at the top where no one can see him, and still get caught
I’m just hoping they’ll be roaming enemy a. I After liberating region and completing the campaign. I don’t want this game to become empty . I know you can reset outposts, but aside from that , I want enemy a.i roaming around after all is done, regardless of outpost reset or not .
Great review. I just finished the game and agree with much of the comments made here. It is fun, but the story is lacking, the AI is pretty bad, and the game play is a little too easy/short&simple. It was fun, but I wish they did more character development, and made the campaign missions a bit more involved, I was done before I realized it, without even finishing many of the campaign elements. It was far too easy to just end up with enough "resistance points" before even getting these side characters set up. Also, WTF? The AI CANNOT DRIVE, it was painful watching them try to drive, I just ended up driving myself because they were so slow and kept running into things.
this is a terrible game all you do is fly planes, helicopters, have wingsuits, drive cars and trucks with a multitude of weapons you can mod, fantastic scenery and wildlife and some very boring characters that give you loads of shity missions, rinse and repeat. now if we had made this in Ireland and Liam Neeson was in it it would have been bloody fanatastic.
I felt the shoot house drill in the Jacob Seed segment of the game was far too redundant and perhaps the story writer had been out hitting the "Bliss" a bit too much and didn't feel like writing anymore so they came up with a scenario that could fill in for the lack of meaningful story line.
Great video, I agree with all of the dislikes regarding the story the end was a complete cop-out and basically made everything done prior meaningless and I loved this game weird glitches and all was a blast but that ending just ends it off on a sour note for me which is truly a shame
Does map creator also have a mission creator in it or is it just make buildings, place items and enemies, rinse and repeat? Old game like Infamous 2 was able to do it don't see why games today can't.
Nothing about walking 500 feet, turn around and you have enemies back at base again? Like you never been there at all? Or is that finally over with in previous FarCrap games.
They took away vehicle takedowns and the knife takedowns. Bring them back please Ubisoft. They led to some badass moments in 3 and 4. And this is the most vehicle heavy game in the franchise to date lol..
I'm glad they did away with the crafting. It has been over-done by SO many games and quite frankly, I'm just burnt out on it. I spent hours on end grinding out crafting supplies for all of the previous FC games. Glad I won't have to do that on this one. Lastly, I hope you're not repeatedly fighting the same 3 or 4 AI's like in pretty much every other Ubisoft game.
I’ll never understand the “it’s too familiar” complaint. The formula has proven to be successful. This game got rid of the mini-map to place a focus on immersive discovery and got rid of the tower climbing mechanic while also changing the hunting and gathering economy and perk progression system. That’s what I’m saying
One thing I loved is when you liberate a region, it feels liberated. The enemy levels are low which makes you feel like you are accomplishing things
John Seed was interesting for me.
Especially his last scene where he gets visibly angry.
Main problem for me was the fact that everytime you reach a point in a region the same shit happened. You get drugged they take you You escape.
Yeah but I mean, what is supposed to happen? You die? And anyway it only happens 5 times, it could be worse.
@@duck3819 ONLY 5 times? That's quite a lot
I thought the seeds were awesome and each had a different personality and especially Joseph he was very creepy and had a really passive aggressive vibe that made him seem truly insane

Kieran O'Donnell I I find it weird.

Sorentity In Ghost Recon Wildlands you could choose you gender and it was not a silent protagonist, so idk why they didnt do it fot fc5
Play on Hard, lose the reticle and then fear every step. Much different experience.
Casey Staton Was thinking about doing that, probably will
Totally agree with that. At least you can turn all that off. The modern xray vision etc is bs in games these days..
Thank you for the suggestion! I like playing games with the extra challenge - I can't get into them if they don't draw me in.
I play games like that regardless
Oh yeah. Far Cry without the HUD is intense.
Jacob was well written. He has a way of getting in your mind.It feels like you endure the same torture endured by the deputy inflicted by Jacob.
I love how they say at the beginning that there’s no spoilers in this video, then proceeds to show some cutscenes from the story 🤪
The Seed family is pretty well developed, I prefer them to Pagain Min... 10000 times better
U understimated a bisexual pink suit president. Actually, u are right.
I love her accent...... I could listen to her read cookie recipes for hours and enjoy it
"In a lot of games, this would have made the experience feelin quite aimless". That was the perfect time for a sneaky Sea of Thieves screenshot :0

I feel the exact same way about everything you said
8:02 "The game features some of the greatest snot(?) acting we've ever seen"?
What? what is she saying there? It's really frustrating me, I keep playing it back.
After you kill one of the siblings there's a cutscene that shows Joseph ugly-crying with a yard-long streamer hanging off of his nose. Enjoy!

How about having an Eagle as a companion instead of shooting them?
DarkM4773r *FC4 flashbacks* *Shivers in fear*
Kai Flood, Don't you wanna give it even a little pet on the beak? *brings Eagle closer*
You know what's even scarier? A bear wit diabeetus.
Too bad Bayek has been dead for over 2000 years. He could have helped out.
Omg having an eagle attack enemies would actually be really cool. But at least we have a walking tank like Cheeseburger
Far cry 5 looks amazing
Looks tedious like every other open world game imo

That Marvin Gaye playing in the background so random 😂
If you would know what particular mission this is, then it completely makes sense tbh haha
I do not like the new perk system. I want to skin animals to uppgrade my gear
I honestly hated that 4 of the pistols were just the .44 but with increasingly larger barrels
Love your narration. Subbed.

Johns boss fight was pretty awesome
Nick Rye is a godsend

Professor Snuggles, ha that's actually a quite funny thing to include.
8:01This in reference to an angry cutscene by Joseph after you've slain all three lieutenants.
I'm yet to play the game, but your description of the Seed family seems to me to be a description of America as a whole in recent years.

Esp in fc3.
Love this game was super happy when got skull collector's edition early its super fun to play
CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO FINISHING DOWNLOADING!!
This is one of my favorites. I have a feeling we will get a farcry bronze age or medieval next.
Can Aoife voice all UA-cam videos? Please.
Can I build trumps wall in the map editor
I don't think it supports that many polygons..
You're too far north, all it would do is keep out the Americans in the Southern states. . .or was that the idea.
Please do it and upload it so i can play
I bet someone is going to make and insanely good version of it and be one of the top played maps lol.
We don't need a wall. No one wants to come here now with the current POTUS.
the problem with far cry 5s villains dosent have anything to do with their performance joseph john and Jacob in particular have tons of potential because of their direct interactions with the character. the reason why they didnt connect to us as much as Pagan Vaas and Hoyt is couse you play as a silent protagonist without a personality that could clash with theirs i mean think back to jason he had many reasons to hate Vaas and Hoyt couse of the story behind their relationship to him plus he was conversating with them which added to the different perspectives clashing and driving the story further towards the end. since your character cant talk back you cant give joseph the shit you want to i hope that new dawn will give us a talking protagonist again
Don’t hide the accent! Love it!
When choppers or planes show up I always use the bow I can use any arrow type
Love your accent 😍
The only thing I want is that you can go to third person in the vehicles
Love the game, but I found the kidnapping situations where u encounter the bosses to be a bit redundant, and often they made little sense.
I love the new editor from what I've seen. It was alright in far cry 4, it was awesome in far cry 4 and it's bound to be amazing with all the new features.
I loved to make impossible outposts and then try those myself.
why is the reflex a red dot and the red dot a reflex sight, its insanity
I loved the open world aspect and honestly felt that the leaders of the cult were very charismatic to each their own. One aspect I felt annoyed with was the heavy amount of the Bliss psychedelic spread across the county. The reason is in the last few titles 3 to primal the heavy psychedelic "trips" occurred during key points in the game rather than when you go swimming or get too close to a barrel of it. In Faith's region especially this is bad. Don't get me wrong I loved the actual story based "trips" in which Faith speaks with you the visuals and l dialogue were on point!
Thank you so much for no spoilers
Any confirmation on being able to disable in the options menu all the blinking/flashing objects?
SlyRy YES you can. Peace.
Jeff Skellington Thanks!
Hmm. Turns out someone else checked in the options menu but didn't seem to find the actual method to disable the blinking objects. Do you know how to go about it? Sorry to bother
SlyRy Go into 'Options' and then 'Interface' (bottom selection) . There ya go. Good hunting. Peace.
Gotcha, thanks a lot. Peace.
I’m glad I waited on a review.I’ll wait until FC5 goes on sale, before I buy.
"Tits up"? Lmao. I like it. I'm using that.
one thing for me is that i don’t like, (it’s a bug they can easily fix but) the silencers are asssss. i’ve scouted a whole place out, took a headshot on the guy at the top where no one can see him, and still get caught
I’m just hoping they’ll be roaming enemy a. I After liberating region and completing the campaign. I don’t want this game to become empty . I know you can reset outposts, but aside from that , I want enemy a.i roaming around after all is done, regardless of outpost reset or not .
Best Far Cry since FC3...will buy for sure.
Thanks to Jacob Seed I started to like only you song.
Speaking from experience, never...EVER...mess with bee hives.
this is a terrible game all you do is fly planes, helicopters, have wingsuits, drive cars and trucks
with a multitude of weapons you can mod, fantastic scenery and wildlife and some very boring characters that give you loads of shity missions, rinse and repeat.
now if we had made this in Ireland and Liam Neeson was in it it would have been bloody fanatastic.
What's the 'watersports' thing?
Nothing about walking 500 feet, turn around and you have enemies back at base again? Like you never been there at all?
Or is that finally over with in previous FarCrap games.
her accent is amazing.. so perfect for this... keep using her please
I think you forgot to mention the gory healing animations.
They took away vehicle takedowns and the knife takedowns. Bring them back please Ubisoft. They led to some badass moments in 3 and 4. And this is the most vehicle heavy game in the franchise to date lol..
Farcrys great I'm playing right now
I'm glad they did away with the crafting.
Smooth Steve the AI is still the same lol . You can be right in front of people and they won't notice you

10:10 forgot to edit that.
Yup. Whoops!
10:02 I have some questions...
